Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Trapper:

  • • As always, put bear traps after vault points, pallets and doorways. Pallets especially. Survivors love to get a stun in before running from you to get some distance, but vault points are important for this too. Pallet loops are the main way high ranking survivors like to waste your time so others can fix gens. That's why trapping main pallet areas is a smart thing to do.
  • • Always try to put traps in tall grass. Unlike Pokemon, tall grass is your best friend as Trapper because survivors can't see traps as well in tall grass. Leaving your trap in the open is a good way for survivors to avoid your traps.
  • • Use certain maps to your advantage. Haddonfield is a good example. In Haddonfield, you have alleyways between buildings that survivors have to go through to get to other parts of the map. Put your traps in these alleyways because survivors sometimes HAVE to go through these chock-points because either your chasing them or they have to get to another part of the map. For the swamp put traps on all the entrances of the boat, that way survivors HAVE to wither step in or disarm your trap in order to do anything on the boats. For Lery's, since you don't have a lot of tall grass, put traps under windows so whenever a survivor is running from you they have a high likely chance of running into one of your traps. For Mother's Dwelling (Huntresses' map), trap the tall grass upstairs so when survivors try to go to the gen that always spawns there, they get a nasty surprise. For the Preschool, trap both entrance to the preschool so that, again, they have to deal wit your trap in order to move through the preschool which is a major foot traffic area for survivors. Also you can put a trap on one of the stairs for the basement so if you chase one of them down there, they'll run into your trap. For the game, trap the clean room where the yellow gen always spawns and trap any doorways/chock-points. I could go on but you get the point. Trap chock-points and high survivor foot traffic areas.

Wraith:

  • • Don't always uncloak. If you find a survivor and as your uncloaking they either sprint burst away or vault through a window, STOP UNCLOAKING. Unless you have a add-on that makes you uncloak faster you'll just waste the speed benefit you get while cloaked. If they have a distance lead on you use your cloaked speed to catch back up to them. Then when your near them again uncloak. Another tip to add to this is scaring survivors away from gens. If you find a survivor/s doing a gen, ding your bell then stop uncloaking. What will happen is they'll run away and while invisible, you can kick the gen and then find them and chase them. Don't use this trick all the time though.
  • • Use the correct add-ons. The Wraith has some pretty good add-ons. The light burn resistance is a bad add-on so avoid that one if you can. The most important add-ons he has are uncloaking faster, a slight movement burst after uncloaking and seeing survivors auras. Running uncloaking faster and slight movement burst is a good combo because you'll waste no time uncloaking and the movement burst will guarantee a hit. The aura reveling add-on is good too because it is extremely good at finding survivors. Plus, the add-on basically has built in deerstalker, so when your down to two survivors, down one then search for the other so he/she can't get hatch. You'll find the down survivor easily because of your invisibility Bloodhound and your add-on.
  • • Use your body. While your invisible, you can use your body to block survivors into a corner or away from a pallet.

Hillbilly:

  • • Use chainsaw for distance. I know this sounds pretty obvious but I can't stress it enough. Unless your on a map like Lery's or the Game, use your chainsaw to both get across the map and get used to the turning of your chainsaw.
  • • Don't use your chainsaw during pallet loops. I've seen it SO many times playing survivor. Hillbilly revs his chainsaw while the survivor runs around the loop knowing that the Hillbilly is slowed and the survivor can always go around a corner of the loop to avoid the chainsaw. Unless you have the insta-chainsaw add-ons, your just going to waste time.
  • • Use Overcharge or Surveillance. Majority of the time your going to sprint to a gen with your chainsaw and see a decent amount of progress on it. Your not going to be able to find the survivor and waste more time. With Overcharge, all you need to do is kick the gen and then sprint away. Odds are the survivor is going to fail the skill check when you sprint away. When this happens you can sprint back and catch the survivor. However, if your going against good survivors they'll be able to complete the skill check. That's when you use one of the worst perks in the game, Surveillance. I rarely use Surveillance, but if I do it's usually with Hillbilly. The one thing about Surveillance is that it has some of the same quality as Overcharge but sneakier. Once you kick the gen, immediately sprint away and watch the gen's gray aura. If you see it change after the few seconds you left, sprint back. The thing about survivors is once they don't hear your terror radius, they assume they're safe. Once you sprint away, they won't hear your terror radius, thus making them resume to repairing the gen.

Nurse:

  • • Practice, Practice, Practice. Every pro killer can agree that the Nurse is the strongest killer in the game. Why? Because she can both ignore pallets and get to survivors much easier than most killers. The problem is that she is extremely hard to play. Survivors can counter her very easily by either running towards her while she is blinking or hide around a corner until she blinks and then hide around the other side of the corner. That's why you need to practice with her A LOT. You also must be very resilient if you want to play her. What I recommend is try playing her for one full day or night every once and a while. That way you can get to know her and get better.
  • • Know when to Blink. The Nurse, much like Hillbilly, is extremely good at getting across the map faster. Use this to always get to gens. But when you find a survivor, don't blink every chance you get. Like a said before survivors can abuse your blinks and avoid you. However, this doesn't mean don't blink at all. The best way to hit survivors is to blink and hit. Use your blink to get closer to them and then once you've blink within hitting distance swing at them but don't swing each time. If you swing after blinking and miss, your exhaustion time is much longer. Know when to strike and when it's best to do a safety blink right next to them.
  • • Be careful with add-ons. The Nurse add-ons are pretty normal. The problem is that they mess up your muscle memory. If you put different types of add-ons on every game you play, it's going to mess up the way you play. The best type of add-ons you can use are blinking range, lowering your exhaustion timer and how many blinks you have.

Hag:

  • • Trap everywhere. Now that the Hag received an extreme buff to her setting speed, putting down traps isn't that much of a hassle. Much like Trapper, trap chock-points and survivor foot traffic areas. You have 10 traps. Use them.
  • • Counter pallet looping. Since the Hag can now put her traps down faster, she can counter pallet loops much like the Nurse. If a survivors is looping you, put your trap down on the near one of the sides of the pallet. So you can teleport next to them and hit them. Don't put the trap too close to the pallet. If you do, the survivor can still have that split second to get to the other side of the pallet and stun you. Put the trap somewhere around the loop. Anywhere works. If the survivor sees or hears you placing the trap, they'll run away to the next loop or window. Which is fine because you can catch them before they get to the next loop majority of the time.
  • • ALWAYS TRAP HOOKED SURVIVORS. Again, I feel like it shouldn't be said but I have to stress this. Putting your trap in front of hooked survivors both lets you teleport and either down the hooked survivor or pull the rescuing survivor off the hooked survivor. Plus, it wastes the rescuing survivors time because they need to crouch as not to get either of them killed.
  • • Trap basement/Try and hook survivors in basement. You'd be surprised how many survivors you can get by trapping the basement with one of your traps. Plus, if you hook a survivor in the basement, the best way to both catch the rescuing survivor or waste their time is put a trap in front of hooked survivor, one on the flat square on the staircase and one at the entrance of the basement. This has a high chance of catching the rescuing survivor and, if they catch on, wastes a lot of their time. Time that you can use to get back to the basement.
  • • Use add-ons. Ever since the Hag received a buff on her add-ons and her range, I fell in love with her again. Now her add-ons make her a lot more fun to play. Especially, if you double down on add-ons. For example, if you run 2 range add-ons, you can basically reach anywhere in the map without any cons of using the add-ons.
  • • Monitor and Abuse Perk. Since the Hag has a 24 meter terror radius, making it smaller throws survivors off. having a 18/17/16 meter terror radius makes finding survivors as easy as using Myers. Trust me it works.

Doctor:

  • • Make them go mad. The Doctor is my favorite killer in the game. Although he's not the best, he does a damn good job of finding survivors. The number one thing I do with the doctor is get the survivor I'm chasing into Madness III. That way, once they get off the hook they can't self-care themselves until they cure themselves of Madness III. The rescuing survivor can heal them but the survivor still has to waste more time getting out of Madness III. Plus in Madness II they'll still have a rough time because of the random skill checks across the screen. Another good reason the get the survivor your chasing into Madness III once you find them is so that you know where they are if they lose you. And they can't use flashlights on you when your breaking a pallet.
  • • Built in Deerstalker. This is an excellent way to avoid the hatch game. When there are 2 survivors left, put one survivor into Madness III and then leave them on the ground. (Survivors can still receive Madness and scream in a dying state). Then search for the other survivor. If the other survivor heals the downed survivor or the survivor uses Unbreakable. Then down the again and look for the other survivor.
  • • Fear your terror radius. The best way to win as Doctor is have the right perks. Distressing is a must because it makes your terror radius/Treatment mode bigger. Plus, Doctor gets A LOT of Deviousness points and Distressing makes it even more. Unnerving Presence makes skill checks impossible for survivors because not only not only are skill checks shaky and on other parts of your screen, but now there smaller and they're is a higher chance of skill checks to pop up.
  • • Order Add-on. Order is my favorite add-on because it grants you a lot of free hits. Order makes fake pallets take the place of broken pallets. Making survivors you chase think their safe but they're not and you get a free hit. Plus it makes people Mad much faster which helps you overall.
  • • Don't stay in Treatment. In Treatment mode, you move slower than you usually do, which can give survivors a chance to get away from you. Only use Treatment mode to prevent survivors from vaulting/looping and when your close to them.
  • • Check lockers. Lockers are the one of the only ways for survivors to avoid your madness. If you think a survivors is nearby, don't be afraid to check the lockers. You'd be surprised how many survivors you find in lockers near generators.

Unfortunately, I ran out of space here to talk about the other killers so I have to make another post. If you have any questions or want to know more about a certain killer then ask me.

Its not that killers apprecciate the tips i do thanks .But most of the common killers in this forum at least know this. They complain not because they dont want to be better but it is because the killer has no actual power to stop the competent survivors unless they are nurse That the issue. Unfortunally

I know that Hillbilly420 already said some stuff about LF but I would still appreciate it if you gave some knowledge on The Cannibal.

The guy doesn't really know much about what he's talking about so I wouldn't bother.

I mean, as a new player this may be nice. Has some flaws like surveillance on billy but it's ok.

I'm going to clear this up for people who can't read well about what I said about Surveillance. I wasn't saying that you have to BOTH Overcharge and Surveillance. Both of them are useless if your facing rank 1-10 survivors. Now for Overcharge. As I said before: However, if your going against good survivors they'll be able to complete the skill check. And as for Surveillance, I probably should have brought a highlighter to say: I rarely use Surveillance. I probably should have been more clear in saying that you HAVE use Surveillance.

Overcharge and Surveillance are complete and utter #########. Do not listen to this man. Overcharge is complete and total garbage. Same with Surveillance. I plead with any random who is reading this thread: for the love of god do not use Overcharge or Surveillance. I was going to ignore this thread because it was bad but then I noticed this nonsense and I was like 'Whelp, I have to make a reply now and point out just how stupid the OP is."

Now I'm going to repeat myself again: "However, if your going against good survivors they'll be able to complete the skill check." The difference being if your going against rank 10-20 survivors then Overcharge is good because they haven't learned to hit the small skill checks yet. This list isn't FOR pro killers.

Problem with Overcharge: good Survivors can still hit the skillcheck and even if they fail it only regresses a gen by 5%. 5% is nothing. That sets them back about 3 seconds maybe. In case anyone is curious; same ######### applies to Thanatophobia. Both perks are garbage.

The major difference between Thanatophobia and Overcharge is the gen automatically regresses 3%/4%/5% when you fail the skill check. As for Thanatophobia gives a repair speed penalty.

I still do recommend reading the rest of Hillbilly420's thread about using your chainsaw for those who have difficulty with using Hillbilly chainsaw.

Well I'm still a rank 1 killer in both PC and Xbox and just getting started on PS4. Your right. I made this list because I felt bad going against killers who still didn't know how to properly use certain killers. Not for you.

I was going to make another list for the other killers once I get some free time but I'll give you a couple of tips.
Leatherface is a basic killer. He finds survivors, chases them, hooks them and repeats. But Leatherface's chainsaw makes certain situations easier. If your chasing a survivor and there are no pallets, windows, lockers or obstructing objects nearby then use your chainsaw. Why lockers? Survivors can jump into lockers to prevent any damage you try do to them with the chainsaw while in the locker. Basically waiting out your chainsaw attack. Since they have no where to jump away from you they'll try to either juke you or get you to hit a wall. But if you practice this a couple of times you can make chases end pretty fast. Just remember to use the chainsaw add-ons that increase how fast you get the chainsaw ready.

Leatherface is also good at preventing unhooking rushes. If you see that a group of survivors is about to try and unhook your prey, then keep your chainsaw rev'd to the max until they leave or try to unhook them. I never understood camping as a killer. It wastes your time so survivors can do gens and escape. But once the exit gates are opened and you have some one on a hook. Then you might as well confirm the kill. Again, I do not recommend camping unless confirming the last kill or survivor unhook rushes.

Going to Leatherface's add-ons the decrease charge time (Spark plug, Primmer Bulb and Carburetor tuning guide) and movement speed (Knife scratches and Beast marks) are the best ones to go with. The acceleration add-ons are good too. Survivors move at 4 m/s or 100% while sprinting. Leather face moves at 4.6 m/s or 115% without a survivor or other perks. While Leatherface is using his chainsaw, he moves at an average of 4.6 m/s or 115%. With Knife scratches he moves an average of 4.7 m/s or 117.5% while using his chainsaw. Beast marks makes him move on an average of 4.95 m/s or 123% while using a chainsaw. Using movement add-ons are a good way to keep up with survivors and mow them down. I'm not saying to use these every time but they are really good. Carburetor tuning guide especially. It's a green rare add-on.

Any set of perks can work on him. If you want more tips on him I recommend this video if your still learning Leatherface:

Its not that killers apprecciate the tips i do thanks .But most of the common killers in this forum at least know this. They complain not because they dont want to be better but it is because the killer has no actual power to stop the competent survivors unless they are nurse That the issue. Unfortunally

It's true that most killers on the forum should know a majority of this stuff, but I want to try and give tips to early rank killers so they can have a better time.

To those of you who you who read and learned something from this post rather than criticized, I hope was able to give you some tips that'll help in the future.
