NOED Meta Incoming...

I feel like NOED has always been a meta on PS4.

That's still slowing the game down.

Damn working for BVHR must be rough right now. Hope they okay.

Very true. During my 1000 hour campaign as killer I never felt I had to use NOED in order to stand a chance in the high ranks. I'm currently on a 1000 hour survivor main campaign, and with this Ruin nerf, now I'm feeling like I'll have to equip perks like Detective's Hunch, or Small Game in order to ensure that we won't get devastated in the endgame.
The funniest thing about NOED is that survivor mains have always complained that its a "crutch perk that rewards bad killers for being lazy" when in actuality it "Rewards Any killers for the survivors laziness". If survivors don't take the combined 1 measly minute of time to break the 5 totems (less than that if more than 1 of them is actively breaking totems), the killer reaps all the benefits at the endgame. Brace yourselves everyone, NOED's going meta

######### you smoking? It's already here.
Most games killers have noed and ruin.

At low ranks maybe. I only see like 2 noed games at most in a week of active gameplay.

the best thing about noed isnt the one shot. its the movement speed imo

Well, then explain how I'm getting those killers when I'm on purple ranks, and go against a red rank killer?

I'll admit I run NOED frequently. But most of the time I can manage a 3k or even a 4k before it activates.
I run it for the survivors that like to teabag in front of the gate or chase me around while EGC runs down instead of leaving. The smug satisfaction is great. The meme builds are fun too.
I've also let teams go with it active because they played well and I don't want to punish them for my inadequacies.
If NOED gets nerfed, I'll adapt but I'll miss it.

NOED has always been meta. An increase in it's use isn't a problem.

It's possible. In that case, I could see Detective's Hunch becoming meta.

big brain moves, make a perk that survivors hate, (Noed) meta by nerfing ruin
GENIUS
(then it get nerfed next patch because it is used up in 80% of red rank games)

Oh sweet summer child. When Mettle of Man was changed survivors reduced this forum to a crater, disconnected in protest, and review bombed the game for weeks. I bet my bottom auric cell that you weren't here calling for rationality then. This dumpster fire has been so fun to watch. Let the slug races begin.

If you have to rely on training wheels instead of learning to gitgud this would be pretty sad and just show how many players are that unwilling to learn killers ans just be badass.

I like to run endgame builds, and I find that NOED only goes off about 50% of the time at my rank. Even then, the totem gets cleansed relatively quickly. I think Nemesis/Rancor with Bloodwarden could be very interesting

Both sides have fits, don't you remember the review bomb when Freddy was initially released? You can check the forums for when MoM first got nerfed or when they buffed a killer or even the Balanced landing change for that matter. Both sides complain and both sides have fits but if you create a genuine thread with valid complaints I wont call it crying.
The only time I call it crying is when it's a one-liner saying "Devs are X biased" or "Devs cater towards X side" or just generally put no effort into their thread.

If they actually did that then Ruin wouldn't have been a problem in the first place.

I think I'll be running NOED more often as a replacement for Ruin.
Partially malicious intent (NOED is basically a giant middle finger for survivors who thought they were about to escape) but also because New-Ruin is very pathetic for slowing down early game, meaning it might be more wise to go into a match "Armed and ready" for endgame with NOED.
IMHO NOED-meta might be a good thing, as totems will become more of a secondary objective for survivors. I've had all 5 dulls cleansed when I ran NOED a few times and I was genuinely impressed and proud that the survivors actually got all of them for once. As survivor I run Detective's Hunch (In my opinion, Detective's Hunch even PRE-buff was underrated. Post-buff, it's actually really good. Yes it's not meta but you seriously should try it sometime, as the awareness of gen-layouts and totems you get is insane.) in my main Tapp build and go out of my way to do totems whenever possible.
NOED meta will mean survivors will want to cleanse dulls every game as an unwritten rule, slowing the game down and buying time since survivors are off generators.
Personally I believe there's no shame in running NOED especially on killers that lack map pressure and instadowns like Clown, Leatherface (Sure he has an instadown but it's so hard to land you're pretty much an M1 killer), Trapper (Long setup time), etc. I only think NOED is a scummy move if you're using it and practically throwing the rest of the game away by camping people before gens are done. When I run noed I play exactly as I do when I don't run NOED, with the intent to win.

Step 1: Use Ruin to help slow the game down... A little bit... Maybe prevent gen rush kind of not really? Ruin wasn't all that strong....
Step 2: Ruin gets nerfed cause.... Yes.... Even though... It wasn't that strong...
Step 3: Killers use NOED to punish the rush, maybe some Pop Goes action in there
Step 4: NOED gets nerfed cause it's being over used to punish the problem the DEVs created
Step 5: Pop Goes is good as ever, CI for more slow down
Step 6: Rinse and repeat
As Crutch as I think NOED is, and I really do think it is. If it helps slow the game down, so survivors are FORCED to get the totems, then so be it. It's one of the few dwindling viable perks killers have.
NOED and Pop Goes it is! And a Mori here and there because outrage!
It's a sad day when there is a legit reason to being forced to bring NOED into a match. But hey. That's how the ball rolls.

My head hurts to see Spine Chill listed as a crutch perk for survivors

Except Spine Chill isn`t meta though...?

I must play like 10 rank 1 killer games a day and I see it as much as Urban Evasion or Kindred. Even immersed survivors I see tend to have Urban Evasion+Sprint Burst+Iron Will more than Spine Chill. But maybe your experience is different.
In my experience survivor meta is DS, BT, Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, Adrenaline and Unbreakable, even though I must say I see a lot more perk variety in survivors than in killers.

just pick detectives hunch, a map or w/e

The irony of crying about the inevitable meta change that nerfing Ruin will bring while mocking people for complaining about change.

Yeah that's the thing, I see people claim everyone runs DS but I very rarely get more than two people running it a game and a lot of games don't even have it. It's still more used than most survivor perks in my games though.

I'm red rank killer.
I use NOED and HEX: Ruin from before. NOED is meta.
But NOED doesn't give pips to me.
game balance is BROKEN.

if it does, you guys will nerf that too ;)

It may have been to you, but not everyone is a super intelligent psychic with very obvious superior game sense /s

Ruin was a perk for me to have fun and be nice. I usually go for a 12 hook fair play at rank 1. And I always end up in a situation that if Ruin was gone early, I would proxy camp, force second hook/force death, slug to gain advantage.
First scenario: I have one guy on the hook, one guy downed on the ground near the hook. If the gens weren’t going too fast, I would pick up the guy on the ground and let them save the first guy. However, without Ruin, I would probably proxy camp both of them until the first guy reaches struggle or I might lose all my pressure.
Second scenario: A guy in struggling on the hook and there are 3 gens left. If I had Ruin I would probably got more hooks and maybe 1 of them is on death hook and the other two have been hooked once. Then I won’t proxy camp the hook to force a death. But if I didn’t have Ruin, I would probably camp this guy struggling on the hook to death given the fact that I have hooked all other 3 guys only once or I would probably lose the game.
So overall I think Ruin is a perk that allows fun to go on for both sides rather than an OP determinant of the game.

Can't wait until people start actually hunting for NOED it will really help Hex totems be useful in general-oh wait it will simply decrease the already RNG based placements even more....
2 -
So you can nerf it in next patch coz it will be "frustrating" playing "against" these builds... Survivors need to have as much fun as possible.
2 -
Don't be silly. We all know NOED is next for the chopping block. Survivors need to have fun.
3 -
If you have to rely on crying on the forums instead of cleansing a totem this would be pretty sad and just goes to show how many players are unwilling to learn how to cleanse a totem.
1 -
I've been playing Huntress in Red/Purple ranks without Ruin....using BBQ/Whispers/Nurse's(or PGTW or CI)/NOED.
Getting a large map is almost a death sentence.
1 -
mh ok devs but what about, you know, reworking NOED ? The prime example of "perk that gives major advantage without the killer needing to work for it" ?
0 -
I salute you, sir.
1 -
I honestly doubt that would be interesting. NOED is one of those perks that hurts solo survivors more than swf survivors anyways. Since we still don't have a totem counter. It will just lead to more frustration and people complaining about NOED.
0 -
With NOED most likely being used more often now, do you think that Blood Warden will be used more also? Survivors 99 gates but killers will just learn to open the gate then hook. If this happens will we see even more unbreakable on survivors also?
0 -
Yeh, have fun with all that.
I'll be back next patch notes to ask how badly they "ruined" the game and what the experience was like.
Till then o/
