Why don’t people who hate the game so much just quit?
Like it’s one complaint after another and while I agree the game has some issues that need looking into, I don’t get why so many people refuse to just quit playing despite all the complaints they make.
Ive seen several posts about going on a killer strike, trying to ruin the fun of survivors by using moris or op builds, basically just throwing tantrums over the ruin nerf. Even before the ruin nerf there is non stop complaints and whining and I’m not just talking to killer mains
So my question is, if you hate the game so much and it’s causing you stress and anger, why do you keep playing it?
Nothing you say or do on here or even in the game is going to change anything. There is an average player base of 22k monthly with numbers up to 75k the game continues to grow and new players keep coming. So again, why do you keep playing if you hate so much about this game?

I mean if all the killer mains quit enjoy the 25-30 minute que time for a 5 minute long genrush game or the killer beats the crap out of you with moris and noed. its fun for everyone!
16 -
And this is not directed at people who offer ideas and solutions to their complaints. I like seeing people try and come up with ways to improve game vs. complaining all day.
3 -
The game doesn't cause players constant stress and anger. Like most pvp games, players will be going through highs and lows and like any addiction it is hard to stop.
The general nature of any forum for any game is to post what you are not happy about, that is just a fact. So it may seem people are always unhappy with the game but what you are really seeing is a minority of players expressing dissatisfaction.
13 -
You missed the point buddy. But that’s okay. I’m saying you aren’t that special. If you leave game new killers will come. They always do. Killers on rank 20 today will be rank 1 before you know it.
2 -
I understand that, but doesn’t it get old. You can’t even come to this page without a wall of complaints. Not everyone but the majority. Good post btw.
2 -
doubt theyll want to play when they see how powerful the survivors are compared to the killer i know if i first started and id face a 4man with DS and bnps and other stuff i wouldnt want to play again. Now i can handle that crap barely though even with a good killer.
3 -
Sure they will. Because they got to rank 1 playing game as it is today and without ruin, so they’ll be in a way, more advanced. That’s how things evolve.
2 -
someone clearly doesnt know how red ranks are...

Giving negative feedback or expressing dissatisfaction is one thing, and it's something to be encouraged as long as they can do it in a reasonable and constructive way. But at the same time there is a difference between that and people posting lengthy rants calling the devs names or spitefully taking out their disappointment on other players, which I think is the kind of behaviour OP is talking about.
7 -
If I had to guess, and its a guess because it doesn't apply to me, its because the game has hooks that one would expect out of an mmo. In particular the brutal amount of time in unlocking all the perks and then spreading them around to each killer. A lot of people fall prey to sunk cost fallacies in anything where they feel like they also 'put in work' beyond just playing the game.
And so there's an invested interest in things being fixed to where they enjoy it again. Add in that this game is a Cauldron of Salt on both ends fairly frequently and 'feedback' on a sort of slow development cycle (especially one as left field as the current one when many complaints are games are too fast) leads to a lot of vitriol.
1 -
Have you considered that maybe all the players who complain actually love the game and complain because they just don’t like the direction the devs are taking it?
Im getting tired of the Ruin complains almost as much as I’m tired of the tunneling and camping complaints, but I’m not going to fault people for complaining. The forums are here for feedback, and the onus is on the Devs to make the game as enjoyable as possible for both roles.
Currently, their obvious focus is on new survivors rather than long time players. And from what I can see from watching older videos (I’m still a newcomer to this game so I could be wrong), it seems they also have a slight bias to survivors fun more than they do for killers.
If they don’t fix rankings and matchmaking soon, get ready for longer queue times.
2 -
Yeah, people complain because they enjoy the game fundamentally but they take issue with the direction it has gone in with this latest ptb. If they didn't care they just would uninstall and not bother.
3 -
But with matchmaking, most new killers quit relatively early on. rank 20 killers vs red and purple rank survivors is just a miserable experience. Why do you think DBD was one of steam highest selling games in 2019, yet the player base has remained constant rather than increasing?
ppl get sick of ######### and quit, especially new players when they are facing veterans who know every exploit and loophole
1 -
Oh I 100% agree on that. I faced similar survivors at rank 15 killer. It’s brutal.
2 -
People have been suggesting ways to improve game since this game was released. You could think of ideas and solution all you want but that's not gonna get noticed by the developers, In fact developers would be happy that the little sheeps are content conjuring up imaginary fixes that would be never applied to the game while they can drive the game they love to the ground. The damage control is literally being done by the sheeps and they don't have to do anything. That's pretty brilliant.
Consume, consume never question it.
2 -
So then why complain If you think nothing gets fixed and sheep will bury game?
1 -
I honestly understand to an extent. But I don't like the attitude of "nothing you say or do is going to change anything". This game is insanely expensive if you have bought the dlcs like many of us have. It's actually my most expensive game. And here I am waiting over 10 minutes to find matches that are finished in 6. But don't you say anything. Just accept that bhvr doesn't give a ######### and move on from the game you have over $100 in just for all the characters.
2 -
Because expressing your complains gets more noticed than Sheeps playing damage control? See how Oni flicks is back?
2 -
In other words, people are addicted and are unable to quit.
1 -
Have you ever played at rank 1 as a killer? o.o... I can do that at any time I want, I just don't do it because it's not fun, and this logic of yours couldn't be further apart from the truth... It's a well known fact that on lower ranks you have a lot of killers and few survivors, but red ranks your queue as a survivor tends to be longer and longer, because few ppl find fun on playing killer as the ranks goes higher. At some degree we're already feeling the weight of killers either leaving the game or playing more survivor (like myself), so yeah, good luck with that mindset, because soon bots will be implemented in the game so we don't get a full day of queue if they don't stop balancing killers for rank 20 games, like they're doing right now.
1 -
I'm not out of mori's yet.
0 -
Fortunately not all killer mains are self-made victims. There's also *gasp* players that play both sides!
5 -
i do to thats how i know how easy survivor is compared to killer lol. If you have a good 4 man with decent perks and you can hold your own and with ruin gone gen rushing is gonna be so easy. Ill have to wait and see till it hits live since im on ps4 though.
1 -
Because BDD is like a drug
You feel unhappy without it in your life

The thing that you do not understand, people do complain and voice their concerns because they care about the game. Like if all the people shut up about issues, it just means one thing, that we do not care enough to argue. The fact that we do argue, voice concerns, is showing at least from my point of view how much we do care about the game and that we still have hope to make the game better for everyone.
Like why do you argue with family or people you love? Because they are important to you, if it was a random stranger you would simply say oh god f* it and be done with it.
Also I doubt that you are in the position to say nothing changes or that anything will change because of people what have said. Because i refuse to believe that. :)
I love the game, i love the devs because they managed to create something that has given me so many hrs of fun and literally is the reason why I did find so many amazing people. I am just very concerned even tho when I do fail to be nice or whatever i just want to help improve the game overall.
3 -
Because they don't hate the game. They love the game and want it to be the best it can be. The issue is, BHVR is plagued with people making awful decisions. THAT is what people hate.
0 -
we don't hate the game, but there is def issues with the decision making process and lack of focus on fixing real issues with the game.
constructive threads being deleted by mods and CMs just because it rationally shows current declining trends, but offering up insightful ways on how to course correct
this game has been under 20k players for a bit now, and it does have highs and lows on steam, but so did death garden.. and then they finally killed it (twice).. history is repeating itself almost exactly with DBD as it did with their other horror genre game

I don't see why you throw the term "french canadians" in there as a negative. It's the people themselves, not where they are from, that gives them egos.
The second you throw shade at an entire segment of people - you are worse than BHVR has ever been.
1 -
The forums are basicly the equivalent of a suggestion box. You really shouldnt open it up and be surprised when you see complaints. The same way ppl dont flood suggestion boxes with notes claiming everything is ok, people arnt going to make forums threads doing the same (at least, not often).

Ive traveled the world for work, and some of the rudest and antagonistic people i have ever met was in Montreal.. the whole city.. for the 3 months I was there
So yeah.. when billionaires in Dubai are capable of holding a door for you and being pleasant and folks in middle classers in Montreal are ruder than folks in new york city, I can label an entire set of people

Double post.

Judging by that comment - and with your attitude towards people, I understand why people here weren't nice to you. That being said, I live in Montreal. I moved here from Alberta. I think you're outclassed and out educated in this discussion.
You're likely one of those people who came here, expected everyone to know English, and were taken back and negative when you realized that wasn't the case. The problem was likely you, with that attitude. Not them.

Have you met kenny hotz or spencer rice?

Attacking the character of the devs (people you know nothing about personally) as well as making weird references to where they're from, is probably the fastest way to get your "feedback" completely disregarded.
3 -
I love Canadians. One of my best ps4 buds is a Canadian.
2 -
Calls me passive aggressive...but started this whole thing with his own passive aggressive comment.
And yes, I think it's fair to make an assumption on a person based on a couple forum posts when you throw a whole segment of millions of people under the bus because you had a bad experience.

i speak 4 languages.. keep assuming stuff though

Personally I go through periods where I "hate" this game, mostly because of a lack of balance or my rank matches me with scummy players. I keep playing mostly because I'm hopeful the devs might try and balance the game since there is a pretty significant amount of outcry in regards to these issues.

probaply because its addicting af and the best of its kind out there.
thats my guess...

I have hundreds of hours sunk into this game as both roles. I am deeply invested in the growth of DBD and I want to see it get better. When it perceivably gets worse it is hard not to feel betrayed a little. Because I've been with BHVR for a long time, I've given them a lot of my money. And a lot of my time.
I don't want to quit, I want them to honor their relationship with their long term player base by making sure they never post really bad changes. Sometimes it can feel like they dont really care, honestly - community leaders spend more time responding to the same 5 really goofy complaints than they do solid suggestions on here.
4 -
Because if we didn't care, we would just uninstall the game. We killer's see a lot of potential in the game, Right now killer's are rebellious because we feel invisible to the devs since they wanna push the veteran killers away.Without killers the game wouldn't exist. Queue times are about to end up being 30 minutes just so survivors can gen rush and the match be over in 3-5 minutes or so survivors can DC since y'all despise mori's and killers being toxic
1 -
I think it's fair to say that many have - just not all of us felt the need to spam the forums with it. The ones that do probably genuinely have a vested interest in seeing the game get better and may just be struggling with sunk cost fallacy.
Frankly, though, I wonder about the logic of trying to force the devs to change it back anyhow - their language on the doctor changes demonstrated a heavy survivor leaning by itself, let alone the ruin change without any generator speed evaluation.
I'd think that if any concessions are offered at this point, then it was less achieved through honest concern for Killer side and more through threats. Seems counterintuitive to stay when you feel your presence isn't desired, only begrudgingly tolerated.

But the way you stated it just now is so much more effective than the other posts this pages been flooded with

Gluttons for punishment mostly.
The big thing is there is nothing like this game, it fills a niche. If a better game like it comes along I will happily jump to it. I don't feel all the major problems in this game can be fixed, at the current rate it would take another 5 - 10 years and the game would be too out dated then.

I'm ok with the complaints, I agree this is the place to voice them. I just think that people could do it without insulting each other and being out right hateful.
Everyone has the right to voice their opinions, views, and complaints. Being rude and hateful doesn't solve anything and makes people less likely to take your opinions seriously.

Nah because match making is busted esp on slow times. Every match I've ever had with killer was against 1+ red rank. Even when I was a level 1 rank 20.
That i just kind of gave up. I'm trying to get a hold of the game and the match is over in the blink of a eye.
Then the end game chat was just pathetic.

Don't worry they are.
Mostly people using up their legendary add on's and offerings before they leave.
Many people understand and have the faith that by doing so, the dev's will finally see the huge mistake they made and change it. Many players think that the dev's do care about all the players and not just the ones who main survivor - so they bring forward their complaints, or go on strike to push that belief. I see no problem with it, as a person who plays both. I want to see Killer mains do absolutely everything in their power to show BHVR what's what until a change is made or their game is dead.

If you're so good at assessing risk, go say something about a group of people like that in front of your boss at your company, and tell me how good of an idea that would be.
Anyway, I agree this is the place to go for a complaint, but some of these go beyond just a complaint. People just cry and say that they'll go spam mori and whatnot, or just say the devs are this or that because they don't like a change. The moment you throw a fit like that, expect nobody to take you seriously. Like if you can't make a thoughtful post with at least some constructive content in it, you're literally just spam and shouldn't be posting on the forums. If people need a place to talk smack on devs, the forums are probably some of the stupidest places to do it.
