So I been playing killer without ruin....
Currently rank 5...still get red ranks every match :') but I been playing the game long enough for that not to phase me...but that should be fixed. Anyway so far my games have been the same as they have always been. Sometimes I 4k, and sometimes I 3k...once in a blue moon ill get dunked on but that is just how it goes. I really don't think Ruin ever saved anyone tbh, especially if it gets destroyed within 3 seconds into the match. This went into 5 hours of playing killer without it. Just in case you think im bragging I do not in anyway think I am good at this game...especially at survivor 😂 just saying i'm still having fun.

the people who come here to complain about the ruin changes are just a minority of people who refuse to understand that it's okay to not be very good at video games, it's not the end of the world.

After it was announced, PS4 player, I stopped playing with ruin. My first couple of games were rough. Now it’s like you said. No change from before (or better since I don’t run hex perks anymore).
My current opinion is Dev’s are getting killers off the ruin baby bottle 🍼 with this change. There was a really brutal post on here from a survivor that was cruel, toxic, etc. but really rang true to me. “Killerini’s”, man.

Noone really "survives" the souls games. But DbD is really not a souls game.
And sure, every totem cleansed in 16 seconds is bad for the killer. But it already helped somehow if 2 survivors ran the map to find it within 30 seconds instead of doin gens.
The problem with the ruin change is still that low mobility killers have no way of pressure now. Which killers do you play to get your 3-4k? Let's not talk about Nurses or Spirits running ruin, that's a different topic.
In addition, I think red rank survivors are not really all red ranks. I don't see myself as red rank and regularly reach it every season. If the ranking system would actually work better, I think there would be way less killers found in the red ranks, just the viable handful. Which we probably never will find out. But I'm also pretty sure that the pickrate for the next stats release will at least shift into that direction after the ruin change.
With the ruin rework and BHVRs statement about the gatekeeper rework, they pretty much confirmed that it will be regular and expected, that the first hook comes along with the first gen popped. And that is simply a problem for many killers' basekits.
I'm not a fan of saying "git gud" to solve all the problems, when the problems are clearly visible. Sure there are people that only regard 4k as a win and expect every match to win. But I think there are more people that don't think so and wanted the ranking system to work properly and get comfy in the 2k-average-zone.
Currently I have to decide every season if I wanna play strong killers which I like and pip up to red ranks and then leave behind other killers because I simply cannot have fun games with some low mobility killers. Or I have to stay away from strong killers and play a season with weaker killers, so I don't rank up too fast. And with the new rank reset, the second option is almost dead until I don't stop playing killer for a whole season.
This is of course not completely caused by ruin or its rework, but old ruin helped out a bit. And before I accept any more "git guds" as solution, I would like to see a day in DbD without commodius, BNPs, ranger medkits +16 or key-map combos

Mmm yes only the survivors are toxic, there's no way that both sides are or anything like that.

Mostly it's survivors, killers can be too, usually more in actions of camping or tunneling (REAL camping/tunneling is VERY rare tthough), but when it comes to those post game insults...it's usually survivors.

Turns out I win without Ruin. It was a true crutch perk that didn’t provide as much value as it was branded.
Maybe I should revise my words to say it was a baby bottle for me but I still mean it.

The difference is killers directly impact your match and the post game chat can just be turned off.

I don’t think th Ruin nerf will change things as much as people say. Like you said it’s found so quickly that I buys you maybe 30 seconds of time people not working gens? A one shot down like Haunted ground can save you that much time chasing someone for example.
And yes, people still break totems even if there’s no Ruin I’ve been testing for about a week

True, though things can be done about most of those 2 things in games, there are literally perks that just flat out negate it...unless it's like a camping bubba or a tunneling pig.
But overall I see more toxic survivors as a general number than killers, and in more matches overall. I imagine if there was a metric measuring in game toxicity it would be about equal, but in chat, survivors every time. That's just human nature though, in a group you are more likely to pick on one person.

Survivors aren't even only toxic towards killers. Very often they're toxic towards the other teammates lol
But yeah imo toxicity that can just straight up be avoided can't be measured the same as someone's toxicity having a direct impact in the match.

Yeah, but I've had killers camp me or whatever just cause' they can, and only get actually toxic when you argue with them over it. If you just die and say gg and move on that is the end of it.
I have had survivors tell me to kill myself multiple times.
I have never once, in 500 hours, had a killer tell me that.
So you are right it's hard to measure them the same, but imo even if chat can be disabled, that type of behavior is far worse even than camping or tunneling- thing is, that is subjective, it all is and that might not bother someone at all.
So yeah, I agree with you on that.

DS and DH are fine. My only argument against DS is that as soon as you hook someone else that timer depletes cause it could be hell at end game. But that is just my opinion.

I feel like we keep saying change DS to deactivate once someone else gets hooked and it would be fine, because then it’s celery not tunneling.
But @Peanits swears if you done someone hook them, and then manage to make it and down the other person again and pick them up it’s still your fault...

Sorry, but matchmaking is a joke right now. Playing at rank 1 I'm 4k'ing almost every game without ruin. If I was playing against true rank 1 survivors every game without ruin it would be a much different story.
