It's been a season since the new rank reset system was implemented
What are everyone's opinion on the impact that the new rank reset has had on the game?
I personally made had my doubts before it was implemented, as the boosted survivors and killers you use to see at red ranks at the end of the season during the old rank reset system would remain at high ranks at the end of the season.
I have noticed an increase of bad players playing at high ranks throughout the season. I've lost account the amount of times I thought a survivor was just a rank 15 brought into a red rank game by survive with friends, but it turned out they were a red rank. The other day I had two games in a row where a Nea was just urban evading at the edge of the map, and in both games the Nea was a purple rank.
It's not just survivors, it's killers as well. I've played against the killers who I expected to be about rank 10 and the reason they're playing against me is due to the current issues with matchmaking, but at the end of the game I get surprised to see that they were actually a red rank.
Comment your thoughts.

Red rank survivors when I sooo queue are just bad half the time. Self caring jn a corner against sloppy, crouching for minutes at a time doing nothing, etc

Eventually everyone will be red rank, which will make newer players wait longer times between games.
Bad change, in my opinion.

I rarely get matched with red ranks when I solo queue, and I get the same killers that I do when I solo queue when I queue up with my green-yellow rank friends. Plus, it always takes at least three minutes to get into a survivor lobby.
Killer queue times are pretty great, but I keep getting sub-par teams. It's like I'm in purple ranks. I can't play hag without stomping everyone, which is no fun, so I just play Legion instead. I like a challenge on killer, and I'm not getting it very often.
It sucks.

Typically when I hook someone and see a survivor aura way in the distance, 5 miles from the nearest gen just self caring away... I just chuckle and go after their teammates who ARE being productive.

Havent played Freddy in like 2 months due to him being my answer to tough teams. Just been swapping between OTHER killers and getting some playtime in on them... I got every perk on Bubba...didnt think id ever say THAT.

With the upcoming change, that u wont be able to see ranks in the tally screen, devs effectively get rid of ranks.
With the new rank reset, there are noobs all over the place. It hurts to see red or purple rank survs, that have no idea which addons or perks the killer uses or how to counter certain killer powers. They have no idea about the map layout or how to use what is given to them.
As a solo survivor, this game is painful due to loads of boosted players.
The only reason for this is, that these devs arent able to get their matchmaking straight. In the end they decided to get rid of ranks, which will improve the queue times a lot but make the game experience a lot worse than it already is.

I thought the leaked update was incorrect and they weren't going to remove the ranks from the tally screen, as it's not in the PTB.

Really doesn’t matter at this pint. So many players are above what they should be because they never reset rank far enough, and it’s almost impossible to depip anymore especially as survivor.
May as well hide and or remove ranks

it has made rank irrelevant... as long as youre red ranks.

It is actually pretty bad.

They need to do a full reset and have everyone start at rank 20. They also need to make it significantly harder to get red rank. To a point where it's actually skill based and not time based. Every 3 or so months they should have another full reset. Give rewards to people who get high enough rank

I think a full reset to 20 would be against what they're trying to do with some of the reworks in keeping new players engaged. If they reset it to 15 or something like that then the brand new players wouldn't be completely steamrolled by all the red and purple ranks clawing back to the top.

I'm stuck in Red Ranks and I can't escape.

As still solo player, I'm now intentionally avoiding ranking up to red ranks by simply avoiding playing survivor. I was very sceptical about the changes as survivor pipping is way too easy. My experience tells me I was not wrong.
I've had three games with purple ranked teammates against two trappers and a wraith from yellow ranks who had only a few random tier 1-2 perks equipped. All games 4ks, two games two gens got done, one game only one gen (guess who did those).
Then with three rank 9's (granted, the were still green, but they were certainly purple a couple of hours later) against a rank 18 huntress with Lullaby tier 1 as only perk which I cleansed during the first minute of the match. Was on console (where huntress is more difficult). So this very new console controller huntress managed to kill my three much higher ranked teammates with 110 movement speed, perkless and not using her power at all. Sigh.
I've been watching a (pretty experienced, played on PC since 2016) streamer who's playing on my system in my region in red ranks solo. So, matches I'd be getting if I was in the reds. After seeing what it's like there, no thanks, keep me out of there. It's even worse than what I am going through. Four rank 1-2 survivors against rank 2 wraith. 4k for wraith with not a single gen done.
Same streamer two days after previous rank reset, again red rank game with all red rank players ... dead on first hook. With(!) Kindred. What made it worse that a teammate actually tried to save him. Even though it was obvious from the auras that the killer was chasing someone else in a completely different part of the map, he crouch walked over there, finally when the chased person got hit he started walking, and when the hooked person was just about to die he finally ran, but did not make it in time anymore.
If I can't avoid ranking up any longer, I'll go looking for an SWF group for sure even though I'd prefer to stay solo.

It doesn't matter because they are already getting paired with people who aren't new. I'll be at rank 10 and go be an entire lobby of ranks 17-19. The reset to 20 would only be relevant for a week or so and would then even out for the rest of the 3 months. Since ranking would be harder, more people would be stuck in the 15-20 range so it would be easier for them to find games in their rank after a week or two from reset.

I thought it would be great. I hated having to grind to red ranks every month.
However I notice that skill has gone way down since this happened. Used to be red ranks was mostly good players, now game after game you get people who can't do well in chases, have no game sense, can't work through Ruin etc the red ranks now feel like the green ranks.

I had game today as solo survivor all ranks 1-5 against a rank 19 killer today

Valid point. Matchmaking is utter trash right now. So that's a big part of the problem

The idea behind this change was to stop new players from being bullied outright by people who have been playing this game for years. Of course, the matchmaking doesn't work properly anyway, so it didn't fix anything. In any case, today's rank reset was completely bollixed, which most reset too far and some few others not reset at all. Most likely, there was no regression testing of changes made when they reinstated the DC penalty.
As many of us say regularly, "this bug has a game in it."

Before the changes from what I seen anyways, casual players were purple, and harcore sweaty deathsquads were oddly green ranked not red. They would spend hours depipping just for easy games.
The new system is less abusable this way so you can't exploit ranking. Or at least there's little reason to anymore. People who belong in red ranks will have no qualms being in red ranks since you can still be paired with yellow.
