Is there a gen speed remedy soon?

I'm thinking there is a perk upcoming that strengthens totems which explains the necessary rework of ruin. Otherwise, with gen speed as it currently is, all of the totems never gain any power to affect the match in any way.

If you cant manage that with the current tools you should rethink your life choice of being a killer...

No thats what makes the ruin nerf/change overall very bad but ruin was a band aid for a fix as the issue of gen times won't be addressed.

Dear god I hope not. We want fixes in the base game, not another bandaid fix that takes a perk slot.

I am thinking that there is a small sliver of a chance in the upcoming Killer perks from the DLC next in line. If not then really it will show how biast the Devs are.

They gave a bandaid solution to a problem. Then pulled the bandaid off without fixing the initial problem.

Well i love playling as killer really even spend som.money for rift maybe buy some cosmetic as well.. But ro feel how crazy heavily they are surv sided its insane.. Whoever designed last patch notes should ve fired... Yes everyone wants ruin to be removed from game but removing bandaid with words its because of ######### emblem system where they know noone cares and shitting on every killer player that you must do pressure you can't be lazy ...

Its so sad.. So from those words when are honba be meta surv ds,bt,dh gonna be nerf? Never..

Every time when i have a inch to.play dbd and kill someone i immediately thinking about how ######### matvhmaking is maps ste. Broken killers nerfed how surv are boosted by devs because of money ลกtv etc.. Sound broken, perks broken . After thinking about these problems i just feel that devs dobt give a damn for killers so why should i even play...

I still hope that after nerf ruin they will come up with some solution.. If not its pointless

yeah there is a re-work coming. it's called the hatch spawns in when the game starts, every survivor has infinate keys and the game is pointless. or BNP is back to how it originally was. because at this point i wouldn't be suprised. they nerfed "slow down freddy" because games where "too slow"... isn't that the point in "slow down" to be "slow". and now ruin is being nerfed. i like how one of the fricking emblems is to "slow down the game" but the devs are making it impossible. "they're re-working that emblem" there would be no need if the gen speeds were decent to begin with. i litrally just played a game and finished a gen with ruin within 90 seconds (no tool box) because i hit 98% of great skillchecks. SO saying the game is "too slow" is a fricking joke. If anything with all these gen speed changes the game is going quicker and quicker into the ground.

"until this game starts going down the tubes due to the lack of killers" mate, we've already reached that point. people only play killers now for quick BP or a daily.

Don't disagree, but there are still games to be found at the moment. We are rapidly approaching the point of no return if we have not already reached it.

Doubt it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they added a new bandaid fix on the new dlc.

Gen speed is the main problem in red rank. And survivals have DS and borrow time to expand juking time. 80sec per one gen, killers should down survival before that time. if killer can't, 3 gens have done.

  • silverwolf4455
    silverwolf4455 Member Posts: 496

I would rather a revamp of map sizes so that all killers can pressure the gens effectively. There is almost no hope on maps like red forest unless you three gen or play one of the stronger killers.

    • Base time
    • Skillcheck chance/probability
    • Skillcheck sucess bonus / fail penalty
    • Skillcheck size/difficulty

There are quite some factors that could be tweaked to slow down gen progress.

But the survivors already show disdain at sitting on a gen for more than 80 seconds, while the devs intend to remove the only perk hampering with the sucess bonus/fail penalty

So skillchecks aint gonna get harder nor does the base time get tweaked anytime soon.

Just start using noed, punish the gen rush. Also it's great for extra salt, M1 heroes think they are hot sh1t until they all get 1 shot downed then cry about it post chat. Oh well that's what people get when gen speed is junk and they butcher the only way to slow down early game. But hey guys don't worry, that pesky gatekeeper emblem will be changed to make up for gens being done 30s after the game starts lolololololol.

Knowing how these devs do things, they'll try to sell us a perk to incentivize buying the next dlc killer to cover up the band aid they'll rip off after the ruin change.

Exactly, but people are so attached to ruin for some reason

  • Blueberry
    Blueberry Member Posts: 13,590

I don't believe the issue is people being attached to Ruin at all. The issue is Ruin being removed without the reason it's used being fixed simultaneously. That is why people are upset.

Gen speed remedy? What game you think this is a horror game? No sir, that could impede on survivor fun and experience and we can't have that, pretty good job so far though. T_T

Killer logic be likes: as long as pallets exist and survivors can work on gens the game is literally unplayable. Every killer except nurse has over a 50% kill rate as of the most recent stats and you people will not stop bรญtching. Like before the ruin nerf where survivors had BL nerfed (which i agree infinites shouldnt exist), DS nerfed to be purely antitunnel, and whatever that other one was and killers were stil going on saying that keys needed to LEGITAMENTLY be removed. Killers are literally suggesting and entire item removed because it "makes the game unplayable and unfair". Like this just ahows killers dont want balance they just want free wins. KILLERS ARE UNIRONICALLY ASKING FOR MORE BUFFS AND HELP WHEN FREDDY HAS OVER A 70% KILL RATE. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS. I mean i really dont want to disrepect but jesus christ listen to yourselves/this post. The game killers are asking for is a game of hide and seek where they can one shot survivors with VERY little counterplay if at all. These requests are surpassing absurd and are legitamently mind boggling how someone can say that out loud and MEAN IT.

Balancing around unskilled gameplay rather than optimal gameplay is a fool's errand. Sure, for those that haven't progressed high enough along the skill curve, killer is far more powerful. But balancing around new players is like saying there's no need to wear protective gear in sports because the 8 year olds who are playing it don't hit that hard.

While it's perfectly sensible to make changes that remove the stress on new players, it becomes the opposite of sensible if it only further destroys the balance at higher levels of gameplay. If you were honestly capable of understanding the issue, you would realize that's where fixing the gen rush issue comes from. Players didn't want to rely on Ruin, they were forced to unless they wanted to engage in even more hated gameplay in order to stand a chance.

  • DanteMorello

It is not only new players. Majority is in lower ranks with low skill. The people complaining here do not understand that.

They NEED to balance it for the majority. That is where the money comes from.

It makes no sense to balance the game around the elite in DbD.

This is not League of legends. There are no professional esport events filling entire stadiums and hyping a community towards high skilled gameplay.

  • Dehitay
    Dehitay Member Posts: 1,726

That depends on whether you want a loyal playerbase or a rotating playerbase. All these people that are currently not high in skill will eventually get higher in skill as the goes on. If you want to reward people who put the time in effort into getting good with a "FU, we don't care about skilled players", then you'll lose players as they get better. If the BHVR goal is to honestly just have people play for only about a year each, then they're going about it the right way, but most game companies tend not to adopt such a stupid policy.

Besides, it's not difficult for intelligent people to balance around top tier gameplay as well as make things easier for new players. Hell, that's what this entire thread is about. This Ruin change would be 100% justified if they did something about gen rushing. But that's just the problem. They haven't done anything to help with balance, but catered a change to new players that further destroys balance.

I don't think we'll see a Perk for Totems unless it's a Hex Perk itself, in which case it'd be really weird since there already is a Perk for helping out Totems.

Not that it's against the rules to have multiple Perks for 1 goal, but still, weird.

They already came up with a remedy... Ruin will now regress every gen if they aren't being worked on. Killer doesn't have to worry about kicking gens anymore.

You kidding! I am rank 17 player and I get 3-4k every game! BHVR knows I'm pro and that's why they take my word for balance.

Gens taking too long to fix were no fun for survivors so they'll be increasing gen speed by 200% that way survivors will have more fun fixing gens before even being spotted ๐Ÿ˜‚

Wow dude you're a rank 17 that's almost rank one (let's ignore that fact that rank one survivors had a 20% higher escape rate then even rank two) how do you keep up at the rank

I would assume they are planning something because the developers have been ignoring any questions related to fixing generator speeds. ๐Ÿ˜

It's very suspicious โ€” I never seen the developers act this way towards the community so they are either:

    1. Have something planned that they aren't ready to announce yet.
    2. They have a huge disclaimer and don't want to add more fuel to the flames.

"perk that buffs totems in the future"

There has to be a whole gamemechanic that buffs totems because they are completely useless most of the time.

What totem perks get used? Ruin because its needed, Devour Hope if you want to flip a coin and hope for the best, and Haunting Grounds which is only run because of the previous named perks.

After the Ruin change, Hex perks will become completely irrelevant, BHVR has to buff them somehow. An addional perk shouldn't make them viable. (Just another method of grabbing cash of the players buy getting through potencial cash walls.)

But we all know BHVR's thoughts now, "Late game Ruin". :)

What if... and this is just a rough idea so don't chew me up too badly, but...

What if when after a generator was finished something else had to be done before another generator could be completed. Now, I'm not saying that has anything to do with working on them. I think that survivors should still be able to do that but would only be able to get them to 99% unless they, let's just say for fun... go find a breaker that appears somewhere randomly on the map (that only they can see and not the killer) and throw it (like opening an exit gate but it doesn't take as much time) and then they can complete one more. Then repeat. It would definitely put a dent in gen rushing, which if anyone has experienced as a killer... it freaking sucks, but it wouldn't have a detrimental affect on gameplay and really it wouldn't be too hard to do and the survivors wouldn't necessarily be at risk either. Just a random thought I had after reading this.

The gen speed has been remedied.

They made gens go faster for baby survivors with ruin being murdered.

  • SpookyJeff
    SpookyJeff Member Posts: 108

Yeah, if they even acknowledged there was a problem with gen speed, which they haven't, they would have put through that change alongside the ruin nerf. They're never going to address it, and will watch as new players bleed out over bad queue times caused by, you guessed it, a huge killer shortage. I had started playing survivor more often, but it's boring as hell when you PiP 80% of your matches, so now I just quit playing when killer matches go south over and over again. I can't imagine other players are much different.

  • liquidlight
    liquidlight Member Posts: 344

It's boring when you pip? lol That's what made it boring? I'm confused by that. I'm sorry. If you pipped that meant you were actually doing stuff. Cleansing totems, working on gens, running from the killer, saving people. That's how you get pips. So, that means you were in the action. If you were bored than you might just have a preference.

Really? I could swear I've seen this kind of behavior from Behavior a number of times now. There was a severe amount of silence on DS before they finally got nagged into it. Gen rushing, tunnelling, excessive chase times, and camping have been in the game for years and the devs will go silent about those subjects for massive amounts of times before doing nothing about it. Not only have they been known to ignore the problems with SWF, but they've actually gone back through their youtube videos and deleted video evidence of them admitting than voice communication would introduce serious problems.

i am sorry buddy but as other pointed out: If they had something in the works they would have said it just to stop the backlash that has been going on on nearly all social media platforms for the game.

Heck it doesn't even need to come out with ruin(They could say its to see how much they'd need to push it form a live test) just saying they are doing trying to do SOMETHING about it would help calm the fan-base.

  • NMCKE
    NMCKE Member Posts: 8,243

I'm just speculating from what I been seeing, and besides, the developers add at least one new game mechanic per road map:

    • Last year, they added EGC.
    • This year, second objective?
  • MiktheSpik
    MiktheSpik Member Posts: 75

Noed doesnt punish gen rushing its just a crutch. Not in any specific situation. Its just a crutch. Qhat logic do you have in your head that thinks noed punishes gen rushing. If you really are fighting highish lvl survivors who mostly accel at stealth and gen rushing. Then you would probably never ever ever ever get to use noed.

  • SpookyJeff
    SpookyJeff Member Posts: 108

It's hard to explain in text I suppose, but getting a PiP that consistently to me is boring. If I'm having a rough go at killer I occasionally hit survivor just for the pick-me-up from a win or two, but it's hard for me to play survivor a long time at once because it just feels like easy mode to me. The weird part is I know for a fact I'm way better at killer than survivor, so it just bothers me when I have such an easier time as survivor. I can't even loop properly, nor is my route running solid outside of knowing the really, really strong loops in central structures.

  • Spooky13
    Spooky13 Member Posts: 1,471

The big problem isn't gen speed really, it's map size and tile spawns. A huge amount of maps are either too big for killers to pressure effectively, have such good tile spawns you can loop a killer for the entirety of the game, or a combination of both.

  • whammigobambam
    whammigobambam Member Posts: 1,201

Very true. When escaping 80% I tend to get sloppy and eventually die to a killer because I was doing something stupid to break the gen jockey snooze cycle.

  • whammigobambam
    whammigobambam Member Posts: 1,201

I am glad that they are reworking larger Maps, no more running 2 miles for someone to save right in front of you. Too bad it doesn't seem like an urgent matter for bhvr to get it done. It would be nice to to get a buff to killer meta. For instance make Franklin's add the survivors item to the killers inventory. And the only way to get it back is to be carried on his shoulder or sneak up behind him. Let killers drop items in opened chests in order to carry more items.
