It litterally is, as two sides play against each other. A non-competitive game is when all players have the same objectives, which is not the case.8 -

Your idea is good, only if the touched gens stay red and the untouched white, because this visual indication is really helpful. As others said, Thrilling Tremors is more of a tracking perk.3
