You Also need to be mostly behind them. If you're to the side instead you'll swing at them instead of picking them up, which in the case of unhook can be very bad1 -

I rarely have to drop survivors but I've been learning to just grab people trying to unhook a survivor and then just dropping them right away so they can't unhook and I can catch a 2nd surv…1 -

I hate the button mashing especially with the current bug where it decides to just not count your struggles and kill you anyway. A skill check system would fix this so easily9 -
