I switch them up a bunch but I like to run perks to help my team like We're Gonna Live Forever, Borrowed Time, Empathy, etc. along with other usual perks like Dead Hard or Adrenaline.1 -

I think you have to be standing still to throw it on front of you. Don't press any of the movement keys and you'll be fine in that regard.1 -
