Bubba lost face

I've not seen it either. I only follow a handful of people in the DBD community and none of them would have encountered this.

However, that doesn't mean it wasn't happening or wasn't a legitimate issue. I can't say I'm bothered by their response to this.

I’m pretty sure people with epileptic conditions are supposed to check with a physician to see if they should be playing a game.

Some of you should watch this video and educate yourselves on the topic because I know some of you don't care, but how about listening to the people it's actually happening to instead of being biased and unknowing of the actual issue.

I think it's dumb that they're removing them, though I will say why is it they don't like hate and toxicity about the masks but don't do anything about macro flashlights which can legitimately hurt someone?

How is it proven that your friends are harassed over something in the game with Bubba? How did they prove this?

This seems to be something much more geographical. In Brazil this never happened, everyone who wears Claudette's mask, for example, wears it for aesthetic reasons, I particularly think that bubba is more concerned with her, and I tend to make my resistances more frightening.

Of course. It’s the intent, which is mainly why it’s getting removed.

As a woc, I don’t have a problem with Bubbas using Smartface, I have a problem with those who use it and choose to be racist. (Which many have, and also why it’s a problem).

Since BHVR can’t ban them all (and needs a better report system tbh), I’m happy with them removing the masks all together.

I don’t agree with the compensation tho, they could’ve went with clothes/accessories as replacements.

Indifferent for the most part since in the nicest way possible, it's not 'my' problem. Other people have their experiences and I'm glad that something is being done to rectify their negative encounters

I said it in the other thread, I'm sad to see content removed from the game - it's a part of the game's history being removed in a way. I understand they had to remove all the masks bc the backlash and response would've been worse if they had just removed smartface.

I hope LF get's some more cosmetic options in the future or a return of this feature in a different manner, someone suggested Bubba wearing certain items of the 4 main survivors like dwight's glasses and so on.

And yeah, it probably is geographical- EU and NA are horrific with it, with EU also having people start to harass Asian streamers with the Jake face (though far less common than Claudette).

And again, lore is irrelevant when it comes to protecting people. There were alternatives that could've been taken, yes, but I'm fine with this outcome too because it makes the game feel overall safer. If you want to be racist you have to be pretty overt about it.

stream sniping is the act of watching an individual's stream to get into their games + see exactly what they're doing, giving you an easier time. in this context, it is used to get into the games of black streamers as blackface bubba to ruin their experience.

Have you actually looked at bubba up close? They literally made his face under the mask black, it's literal black face.

Because that would cause 1 of 2 reactions

"Why wasn't X mask removed? It's racist that only X race are allowed masks"

or

"Why wasn't X mask removed? It's racist because people can use that mask to target X race"

BHVR wants to wash their hands of this whole thing and I don't blame them.

Ok, but why removing all the masks and not just the Claudette one. Were Korean and Japanese players being harrashed with the Jake Park mask? Or runners and sport people being harrashed with the Meg mask? Removing all the masks is using sledgehammer to crack nuts.

Understandable, keeping certain masks in the game meant to keep a tool that allowed people to live out their racism. It won't solve the issues of course, but it will definitively limit the experience for those who are victims.

Still I'm not 100% behind it how Behaviour deals with it. They are removing all masks, not just the problematic ones, and not calling it directly enough what's the issue. There is nothing wrong calling out racism. It's really not their fault that it happened.

And like others said, removing all of them is kinda unnecessary and really dishearting. The masks had kinda that unique thing to them. They allowed you to unlock something ingame more like in an oldschool-way. The game never told you how, it wasn't a big grind and just happened at some point. And I really like that.

But maybe the Devs might come up with something similar at some point. Wouldn't mind that.

Whilst it is a shame, I absolutely agree with the decision.

The faces themselves were never a problem. Bubba wears any face (which is oddly inclusive!), and the cosmetic itself was fun. However, when people start using them for intentionally racially-motivated forms of harrassment then it's clear it cannot stay, because of how people weaponised it.

On reading responses, it's refreshing to see more people supporting this, and also well done to BHVR for not only combating this, but also compensating the loss of masks in such a way as they have. It also shows they do work towards a non-harrassment policy.

But lorewise they ruined him now because he lived on other people's masks.

Thats what make him unique. But after that we have only 3 masks. (only buyable one)

And when they want remove racist in general...why the hell is claudette ingame black or Adam ?
