I don't know if it works also for Corrosive cubes, but from 2 patches before you can hear everything through an Holocube, revoming and ruining the surprise element.

Before it wasn't like that, you couldn't hear Guards and their sounds through holocubes, because they're solid blocks until you get the Genmat.
