Constantly "fetching data" and hanging

Every time I do anything, the game wants to fetch data, and very, very often it hangs when doing so. Sometimes for minutes. Sometimes I have to close the game and restart it just to get it unstuck. I lose a ridiculous amount of time to these fetching data hangs. I tried to look at my daily challenges and it got stuck fetching data and I had to restart the game.
