“What a sight to behold, the containment pods stacked one upon each other in great towers to the sky. Here indeed lay the hope for all humanity now lost forever.” 

When the Gene Bank was eventually investigated the true cost of what the cult members had done became apparent. Almost the entire gene bank had been contaminated, destroyed, or corrupted by the effluent, setting humanity on a course that it never recovered from. 

With the gene sequences of all plant life on earth gone, all hope was lost forever.

Now a rotten, toxic relic, Fort Hope serves as a timely reminder that mankind will always find a way to destroy itself.
