Meet Your Maker - Sector 2 Recap Blog
Custodians, as we gear up to enter the acidic wasteland of Decayed Hope, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible adventures, new content, quality-of-life improvements, and our game-changing Raiding 2.0: Expeditions update that made Sector 2: Shattered Peak unforgettable.
We also wanted to shine some light on our recent Expeditions player survey, the Pantheon of Builders, and our community.
Without further ado, let’s dive into our Sector 2 recap!
New Content and Features:
- New Environment – Shattered Peak: In Sector 2, we ventured into the frozen heart of the arctic wasteland in the all-new Shattered Peak environment. This environment presented a stark and breathtaking contrast to the desolate and gloomy landscapes of Deadshore and the Red Sands.
- New Guard – Assassin: Among the new recruits into your deadly toolbox was the new Assassin guard, a hunter that relies on stealth to ambush its target. With a cloaking field based on Holocube tech, it remains nearly imperceptible until it unleashes a devastating dash attack.
- New Custodian – Overseer: The lineup of custodians expanded with the Overseer, a nimble suit capable of gliding in mid-air. Its invaluable Biolinks provide insights into the Harvester’s Path, Forsaken Tombs and nearby resources, aiding raiders in their quest.
- New Deco Pack – Ice: We also saw the expansion of our creative toolbox with the Ice Deco Pack which draws inspiration from the Arctic’s chilling aesthetics with blocks of ice, frozen metals, thermal heaters, fluttering tarp and a distinctive decal set bearing the markings of a Northern Shelter.
Raiding 2.0 Expeditions:
Our Mid-Sector update, featuring Raiding 2.0: Expeditions brought in a new era of Raiding which changes the way you engage with the game’s Raiding Experience. With a full overhaul of the Raid Map which now presents you with 3 difficulties of Expeditions to embark on, each with different levels of challenge.
Selecting an Expedition will bring you to the new node-based Expedition Map, containing a web of branching paths, filled with Outposts to Raid and rewards to collect. As you clear Outposts, you’ll earn in-game currency (Synthite, Parts and Cells), new game-changing Enhancements and progress through the brand-new free Seasonal Reward Track.
Completing Expedition Zones will reward you with Expedition points, a new currency used to unlock exciting rewards on the brand-new Seasonal Reward track, filled to the brim with exclusive cosmetics, decals and the new equippable Enhancements.
Raiding Enhancements:
With the release of the Expeditions update came the all-new Enhancements, a new type of equippable and depletable gameplay buff that you can add to your loadout. They greatly change the Raiding experience, providing buffs like increased grapple speed, extra jumps, exploding ranged ammo, and much more!
Enhancements are consumed by using charges. A charge is used upon leaving the Safe Zone and lasts until the Outpost has been completed. Enhancements can be swapped mid-Raid, although doing so will consume a charge on the newly equipped Enhancement the next time you exit the Safe Zone. You will still have lost the charge on the previously equipped Enhancement.
They come in 4 potential rarities, Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic, each with increasing levels of impact, and they can be earned from completing Outposts, through the Expeditions Map for reaching the end node of branches, as well as from the seasonal Rewards Track.
New Difficulty System
With the release of the Sector 2: Shattered Peak update, we introduced a new granular 10-point difficulty scale symbolized by skulls, meaning the more skulls you see, the deadlier the Outpost. This replaced the previous system which featured Normal, Dangerous and Brutal difficulties. This overhaul makes it easier for Raiders to better choose the difficulty that they want to tackle.
This new difficulty system is dynamic, and the difficulty rating of an Outpost will actively change based on how Raiders perform in the Outpost.
Sector 2 also saw the addition of multiple exciting new gameplay elements such as:
- 5 new Mods and Augments
- The Shattered Peak Cosmetic Collection featuring 2 blocks, 3 props, 8 decals, 1 Weapon skin and 1 Custodian skin.
That’s not all, we also released a slew of quality-of-life updates, balancing changes and more. For more information, check out our Sector 2 and mid-sector patch notes:

Expeditions Player Survey Recap:
Back in November, we held our 3rd Player Pulse survey to get your feedback on our mid-sector Raiding 2.0: Expeditions update. We wanted to get a feel for where we’re at, and where we’d like to be. While this survey was much shorter than previous ones, we wanted to share some of the results with you, and our next steps to address the key feedback points we received:
- Expedition Variety and Choice: You let us know that you’d like some more variety and choice in your expeditions.
- To address this, we’ll be adding more map variants with additional branching. We’ll continue to identify other potential ways to improve the raid flow.
- Expeditions First-Time User Experience: You let us know that the Expeditions update lacked clarity and tutorials on how Expeditions works and how to earn rewards.
- We’ll be addressing this by adding new tutorial events which will help newcomers and returning players better understand how Expeditions work and how to earn rewards. These tutorials will also be viewable via the in-game Settings.
- Spontaneous Mod: You let us know that the Spontaneous Mod was a little too strong, which made it difficult to navigate through certain Outpost layouts.
- We’ve addressed this by reducing the size of the mod’s acid puddles, and increased the attack cooldown. In tomorrow’s update, we’re also fixing a bug which caused the acid puddles to spawn in weird ways and angles which made it difficult to navigate through sloped areas.
Overall, this survey confirmed that we were on the right track with Expeditions which gave the Raiding Experience more purpose and results in a more fulfilling and rewarding gameplay loop.
What’s Next:
Tomorrow, December 12th will see the release of Sector 3: Decayed Hope, featuring an all-new Environment, Trap, Weapon, Deco Pack, and much more!
While we’re not ready to talk about what lies ahead for Meet Your Maker in 2024 just yet, we can’t wait to see your reactions and feedback to Sector 3: Decayed Hope!
See you in the wasteland, and happy holidays!
