Lunge hit range is insane

Every killer is like this. These hit ranges THROUGH WINDOWS are insane, please fix them. A killer should not be able to hit you through a window, after you have vaulted, when you are standing on the other side.

I know @Peanits has pointed out that the visual on the killer's side puts the survivor well within range, but it needs to at least have the appearance of being non-BS to the survivor, too. Otherwise, how do you expect us to be able to accurately gauge distance, and whether we can safely vault? Do you expect our brains to mind-read the server lag? Fractions of a second count in this game, sort it out.

In real life, my friend is not a magical demon who is trying to hang me on a meat hook while I mash a button to struggle. Unless it's a really specific type of game, realism is not a rationale for how a game mechanic works, or should work.

As a killer, I swing at someone who's just vaulted a window and miss every time, because they are cleanly on the other side, even though they are right there. As a survivor, I finish the vault animation and still get downed. It needs to be consistent across both viewpoints. I'm sick of feeling like "that was totally a clean vault and I still got hit."

Git gud. Windows are not supposed to be safe and if you're too close to one, you will get hit. It would be absurdly unbalanced if that weren't the case. Lag is lag though, and that's unfortunate but a separate issue entirely.

Oh, I'm definitely not saying windows should be absolutely safe. My criticism is that my visual perception of what is considered a "safe vault" as a killer does not line up with what I experience as a survivor.

    LOL, ok, you're right I can't be 100% sure. :D

BRB hitting my friend over the head with a massive shipping pallet just to check.

EDIT: My friend kicked the shipping pallet twice, and it LITERALLY F-ING EXPLODED into splinters. Props to DBD's realism!

My favorite thing other than ''I am standing on the ground on this side of this window and you are all the way over there." hit is when a killer's lunge magically makes them able to hit you before you can even drop the pallet down even though you have clearly hit the button to throw the pallet down because you are twitching on the floor like a maniac hits I've been running into lately.

It literally makes me imagine that the killer is one of those slow motion montages with this music playing:

    It's ridiculous.

after dedicated servers window hits are extremely worst

they don't wanna fix this issue I guess.

I vault, hit the ground, take a step forward.. still get hit even though the killer wasn't right behind me but he lunges from a 90 degree angle

I think hits when fast vaulting a pallet is much more stupid though!

I vault almost 99% of the pallet and I still get hit

Yeah its the dedicates servers in your screen you vault then you tell the server you vaulted and then the server tells the killer but if the killer hits in his screen then its a hit not a swing

Same here. Because you need to have trash internet. I guess they cater to old lag switchers that now limit they internet speed to get carried

The way I see it, the whole "it's a video game so IRL logic shouldn't necessarily apply" is generally used to argue why a thing in a video game that is not consistent with real life is still fine. It doesn't work really to explain why something in a game that already follows IRL logic should not.

That was one thing I really really hoped dedicated servers would fix, is a completed fast vault and NOT to get hit through a window, its so frustrating, easily one of if not THE most frustrating things. (Same for full pallet vault hits)

i 100% agree with you and i've been saying this for the longest time praying dedicated servers fixed this issue, but it didn't.

You can be hit through a window. It has been said many many many times.

You have to make sure that a) you are fast vaulting (not medium or slow) and b) are far enough away from the killer. If you meet those conditions you will not get hit through a window.

You're right. Playing survivor is difficult enough already.

The devs should just remove killer lunges all-together, which would be more fair for survivors.
