Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

How to play Hag?

I recently bought Hag's DLC and just played some games with her only using Ruin and no addons. I don't understand how could I play her properly. She looks like the proximity camping queen. Why would I bother going too far if somebody WILL step in one of the traps and I will have an easy target also avoiding it from unhooking the other guy? Also, the only game I didn't get 4k, it was a 3k with one hatch scape. Is this the way devs intented us to play her? It looks like it is, but it isn't fun at all for both me and survivors. Any tips, please?

In case anyone interested, I'm currently rank 6 and survivors were mostly purple/red ranks.

    1) Catch a survivor

    2) Hook them in the basement

    3) Place at least 20 traps

    4) Wait at the top of the stairs

    5) Repeat

Learn how survivors path. All maps are different but there are routes most survivors will take, whether they're in a chase or otherwise. Choke points, pallets(sometimes), Windows, hills/stairs, dropdowns, and main buildings are good places for traps. Ruin is crazy strong early game and let's her set up traps relatively peacefully.

Use add ons that allow you to teleport from great distances.

Put a trap in your totem.

Then put a trap in places survivors tend to go through.

    Put traps in long loops.

Put a trap in front of the person who is hooked.

If you hook someone in the basement put a trap in front of the hook, on the stairs and on the killer shack entrances.

    Here's an educational video:

Don’t mind the silly comments and such. This is an older post of mine. Take a look and I hope it helps!

The mentality part of hags game has an absolute ASTRONOMICAL skill cap (a little bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point). Just take a look: !

    • Traps from loop to window, into another loop. Love when you exactly KNOW where a survivor is going to take a certain path. Other combos can also include unhooked savings into vaults/pallets, 2 traps loop into jungle gym (not an often occurrence, but very now and then you’ll get a loop that connects into the dreaded jungle gym -fast vault- WINDOW. It’s nice to get one closer to the window, one opposite side and directly inside. ETC.
    • Shack is NEVER a problem.
    • Flashlights don’t HAVE to be a problem. As long as your traps are connected and aren’t placed wrong, you will not have a problem! Flashlights are typically used at pallets and hooked survivors. (Again, typically! Some Experience survivors will take down different traps, but you can always adjust as long as you have your area controlled. Speaking of which..)
    • Area of control is absolutely astounding! Definitely one of the most important ones to remember! Goal is to protect at LEAST 4 gens IF possible. But 5 is preferable, if not 6. There is usually a gen you want to let go (I.e gen in barn).
    • She isn’t add on dependable!
    • Certain perks are INCREDIBLE on her! Especially Save The Best For Last! STBFL is definitely recommended! I also love Monitor & Abuse on her, Sloppy/Thana or Dying light combo, Dark devotion, Pop of course and really any Hex perks! - Surge is nice!
    • She can be hard to see at times! (Why M&A works well)
    • Shes gorgeous!
    • A lot of survivors aren’t imitated by her (allowing hag to wreck havoc).
    • Speed isn’t a hinderance FFS!!! Look at Spirit and Nurse 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
    • SWF isn’t any different going up against as a pose to another killer. If they are running through your traps purposely? GOOD! They are wasting time. And as you know, you have your area locked down and your perk synergy is ending careers!

tips For beginning hags with no map knowledge

    1. find the side of the map with the most and closest gens and stay on that part of the map and trap it, dont chase a survivor to an untraped part of the map unless you know you can get them before they get to a pallet.
    2. Make sure you have at least 6 traps placed before really committing to chases in your part of the map, if you teleport to a trap dont swing right away unless you know they are going to run through the trap because otherwise you might miss.
    3. place traps at loops meaning at long window vault locations and pallets such as the cow tree, the shack, and coal tower (The building that has the tank treads around it with boxs inside it at the top and a window at the bottom). You need to also place traps at pallets but you want the smoky circle you get after placing them to be just outside or at the pallet, the circle is the trigger radius for your traps.
    4. when placing traps at a hook only one is needed and you place it under the hook. for the basement you put one under the hook, one at the middle of the stairs if you want to, one outside of the shack by the pallet, and one inside or outside of the shack for the window.
    5. if you get to an untraped loop during a chase just put a trap, if you find a survivor early in the game with few traps placed, place traps as you chase them so they cant work on a gen and so you can have traps for later.
    6. get good at reacting to triggered traps, if you dont tp fast enough you might not get the hit. as a hag you should get a hit after someone triggers a trap nearly every time once you good.
    7. learn where survivors run to in the maps so you can place traps there, also during a match if survivors keep running away from a gen when you get there figure out where they are running to and place a trap along the path they would take, people often like taking the same path.

literally everything you said are things i point out when i see posts where people think shes weak. Glad to know someone has a similar mindset. "flashlights and swf wreak her!" No they don't you just have to adjust your play style depending on what they are doing and she still destroys them. Also I love stbfl on her, at full stacks its so satisfying hitting someone than immediately teleporting to a trap they activated for the down.

There’s not many people who realize her full potential and how powerful she is. I’m always writing how great she is and constructed a few posts talking about her. Anytime I see a tier list that has Hag below A (I believe she’s S) tier, I can’t help but comment on it. I personally believe she’s the best killer in the game after Nurses nerf. I’m also glad to see the points that you made! You definitely understand for sure.

I'm sure Lisa will be more popular after Spirits nerf. Then they will nerf Hag and we will forget this game ever existed.

If they nerfed hag in any way, I would/will quit this game and I’m not even kidding. Any one can quote this if they wish. But on a more positive note... ALL HAIL QUEEN LISA!
