Is there a bug with matchmaking?

I thought I was only supposed to get queued up against someone 6 ranks above or below me. SWF groups are supposed to be matched up with the highest rank in the group as well. I was playing solo queue and got placed against a Rank 17 Myers on Rotten Fields. His ping was also horrid considering I got hit once from almost 5 meters away.

    As a green rank killer I am getting red ranks in my matches.

    Also as survivor I keep getting an error messages that prevents me from loading into games.

    All around frustrating right now.

    Hit a wall at rank 7 because I keep getting high rank swf teams. I cannot progress any further right now.
