Try Playing Both Sides and Expand Your Perspective
I think people could really benefit more from playing both killer and survivor. You should try playing both if you can, it will give you a decent perspective of the entirety of the game. I don't receive messages much when I play survivor. Here and there, but not much. I would say up until 2 weeks ago I played Survivor/Killer at a 80/20 ratio. Well recently I really got into killer more so now I am rank 4 survivor and rank 7 killer. Getting there. Hell yeah.
So I had made it rank 8 last week and didn't get around to playing killer again until yesterday. So yesterday were my first games as a purple rank killer, wooooo! So I played 6-8 games making it to rank 7, but I got messaged every game. A lot of the things said to me though were very odd. And when I thought about it, it seemed like the person didn't understand both sides of the story. I shall explain this interaction.
So a person messaged me and said I was a camper, a trash killer and go back to green ranks. Now the situation is that two people had been working on a generator to about 80%. I used my sweet ghost face stealth (my ghost face is clearly Matthew Lillard) to attack em and kick the gen and then downed someone. I hooked said person in the jungle gym with the kicked gen and the pallet had been used. Ok. So the other person came back and tapped the gen and got the person off the hook. I chased the hero a ways and downed him and put em on a hill hook. So I went back to the jungle gym and two Claudettes are working on the same gen. I knock the injured one down (the one that was hooked previously) and go after the other, injuring her. She runs towards the mechanic shop and I break off, as that loop is very powerful. So I head back and hook said person again at the same hook, kick the gen and hill hook guy gets unhooked. So I head back to him and injure them and the claudette is unhooked again. I go back and her, still injured, is working on a gen with another person. Down her again and injure other survivor, who heads towards the same powerful loop, and and I break off and eventually hook the Claudette for the final time.
Now, I get that as a survivor that feels bad, and I have been stalked to death within the first 3 minutes of the game by some very talented killers. It happens but generally I could have been more cautious or less obvious to mitigate that somewhat. But it dawned on me that this person wasn't thinking about the fact that to not do what I did, I would be ignoring two people that I know are working on a 70-80% finished generator. Thats quite silly, don't you think? It may have honestly cost me the game right then and there.
This isn't a post about survivor mains whining or anything, as I have had a killer message me and call me very distasteful things because I flashlighted him once or twice. I wasn't trolling him or thinking I was the #########. I was tense the whole game and it was really good. After he messaged me I explained that and that I was just using what I found in a chest and it was a rough chase for me as well. He apologised and said he mainly plays killer and this happens a lot. He also mentioned he is a rank 8 killer but a rank 19 survivor.
So I don't know about the rest of you but I think if you play both, you will have a better understanding of what the other side is dealing with and honestly a better understanding of the game as a whole. This is what I have been striving for when I get messaged and its gone fairly well. Most people have had some really good conversations with me after they realize I am not trying to terrorize them, I just understand what people are doing on both sides, and thats cool. Y'all have fun out there!
