Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The spirit change.. Im not sure if the devs know what her problem is

Soo, straight up the good changes: vaulting animation, collision box and prayer beads change are good on paper. It's going to me more fair for survivors without destroying spirit.

Now, the other changes... Its basically just making spirit weaker. But the problem with spirit wasn't that survivors couldn't beat her. No, the problem was a core design problem. The problem was that survivors had to guess everytime, the coin flip simulation is what survivors hate.

So instead of adressing this issue, spirit just got number tweaked and nerfed. Idk if that's going to satisfy survivors nor remains the power of spirit.

On paper it sounds just like a nerf without making it more enjoyable to verse. A lose-lose situation.

This is just my first impression, let's see how it will be ingame (but then it's probably to late since bhvr never does huge changes when feedback given. See nurse, tons if feedback -> nothing changed).

She’s fine now her power is a mind game power from base they just changed what gave her an edge over other killers

Yeah on paper it sounds good, but there where a few situations you could take advantage of the collision box as survivor. That's something we really to experience over time to be sure if it's a good change, but my old experience says it's for the better.

I feel like the Vault animation and collision changes are enough, If she gave indication of when/where she's phasing she'd be an outright terrible killer.

Spirit is slow and has a cooldown on her power, If they changed her so that you can easily counter her phase then she would have nothing going for her.

Her power is designed in a way that if you make it "Fun" then she'll end up becoming very weak. I'd rather a Rework over a nerf that hard.

I had fun versing nurses and she was the strongest killer. Survivors in general enjoyed versing Nurse over spirit and we all agree that old nurse was stronger.

I was wondering what my issues were and you put it into words. They fixed a lot of the bullshit edge cases but at the end of the day it's still just a boring ass guessing game.

    Let's think about it...

    • Spirit no longer has collision while using power
    • which means she no longer get free hit from bumping survivors while using power
    • which means survivors can scracth mark juke which can help to increased chance to make Spirit guess wrong position and no longer need to worry about accidently bumping Spirit while running anymore
    • which means survivors have more option to avoid from Spirit mindgame situation while her power is still strong.

These changes make both side can really play mindgame now. Spirit still can track the injured sound but survivors also has scracth mark juke as a last option to survive if they can't find pallets or windows around there.

I really love this chance tbh.

I think you don't know why survivors hate versing sprit

Or maybe they dont know. Maybe they hate versing her because they faced her too much, because other Killers arent as good as her leading to little variety.

Or they missed their nap time and need a diaper change.

Or just parroting at its finest.

I asked and discussed with many friends I play with which killer they hate and why. The response was 95% the same: spirit cuz guessing game aka coin flipping. And this is also what I see in the forums. People don't hate spirit because she's to string, many complain about her core design.

Probably one of the best plans for a Killer I've seen so far.

Could be wrong of course, but I got more optimism for this list than most previous ones.

    Like usual: Test time!

again we asked for consistent counterplay not a straight up nerf. (although the addons needed it) all they did was change the iceing and not the cake itself. the core issues are still the same and everyones gonna be complaining about the same thing

Yeah this my understanding. I can actually really picture it how survivors continue disconnecting or giving up on 1st hook. At least the most broken addon prayer beads got changed, it was really the number 1 reason of most rage quits.

The no collision change is great.

I never had a problem with Prayer Beads. It made the game scary and you had to always be on edge. That being said, I think universal phasing sounds will still be good since the survivors won't know if she is near them or not. However, there is a big problem with this. Unless the survivor she is in chase with can't hear her phasing while being chased, this change completely removes her ability to mind game her phasing during a chase.

I personally am not a big fan of the window vault change. But I'm not against it and while I liked how it was before, it will certainly make her more balanced.

I think the devs did a good job. But please make it so survivors in a chase with Spirit can't hear her phasing sounds with prayer beads otherwise it just completely removes her mind-game potential.

I'm not a fan of big nerfs or buffs. I don't think it will fix the biggest issues that survivors are complaining about either, but I'd rather start here and have BHVR adjust as they see fit. These changes may surprise us, so we'll see.

Like freakin' clockwork, "The nerfs aren't enough" threads were bound to pop up.

Idiot mockery aside, I personally think they did really well (at least on paper) with her changes. She got trimmed down to be the killer the playerbase ACTUALLY uses, and I can't see any other reason to add more nerfs or even buffs onto that.

I think the changes were pretty spot on, though time will tell.

Retracing your steps while she phases in a chase is now a legit strategy cause she won't bump into you, and vault animation because it needs to be consistent with every other killer.

I honestly don't think there's a way to make her have more counter-play without completely destroying her power. The devs backed themselves into a corner with her design because if she has a tell when activating her power she'd be pretty weak, if she doesn't she becomes a coinflip.
