The whiniest forum I've ever seen
I joined the forum over a year ago to talk about new content, changes and bugs etc. It was nice to come back every now and then and read a few discussions and possibly participate in them as well. The 'us vs them' mentality did exist even back then but most people talked about things calmly and it felt like there was at least some understanding between the players.
Well jump back to this day and what do we have? People complaining about literally every change, bug and decision. People being attacked for having certain opinions. People saying the devs don't care about the players and all that kind of stuff.
I'm tired. I really am. I used to enjoy reading the forums but nowadays, it's just a huge ball of negativity.
I'm just asking everyone to think about things from different perspectives before posting negatively about something.

Complaining about bugs is alright imo, devs need to understand that bugs are really pissing us off. I'm more suprised about the winning from some people about the free cosmetics. Some people need slaps.

Exactly.
Only a few days ago people actually wanted to get free cosmetics because the halloween event was delayed. The devs didn't owe us anything for that. Now they are so kind and give cosmetics to us for free. And people are complaining...?!
I also already have the Lunar Feng cosmetic, but why would I care if someone else gets it, too? I feel happy for everyone. And I'm also happy and thankful to get other cosmetics for free, that I didn't own yet.

It's been like this for as long as I can remember. Not a single thing has changed.
Don't necessarily see the problem with complaining about changes when folks bring up legitimate reasons behind it. Sometimes it does indeed feel as though the community is brushed aside by the devs. Yes, there is a lot of good going on and big improvements have been made over time... but if folks don't complain when they know something is bad, how will they ever know to fix it? Sure, some are a bit overly dramatic about it, but folks are passionate about the game.
If it wasn't for over a year's worth of solid, extreme complaining, we would still be playing F-tier Freddy. If it wasn't for lots of complaining, we'd still be at the mercy of the killer's connection into the foreseeable future.
And the "Us vs. Them" mentality, well, that's the nature of the game. The game is literally "Us vs. Them." Some of us play both sides equally, some have a preferred side; neither is wrong. That leaks over into the forums from the game when one side sees a change as a win for their side while being a detriment to the other. Never going to change, because that's the nature of the game's base mechanics. You silence one side and the game becomes heavily favored to the other side, that other side will eventually just stop playing, and we'll be left with queues longer than a Taco Bell bathroom break.

All the whining over cosmetics is crazy. I also hate hearing the whining about the "predatorial" battle pass that is optional and even gives you free stuff.

So far all I've seen on the forum for the past week is people whining about nerfs or challenges, even the cosmetics.
Instead of being excited for a new chapter or for the game being healed from the state it was in, it's really saddening seeing how people can complain about anything. Usually the thing that ruins forums like these.

What I regret the most is the escalation of sarcasm. And the creation of a pile of identical topics because everyone feels that his opinion deserves a new topic... It becomes really painful.

I only half agree with you there.
The thing about Battle Passes is that it can be psychologically damaging to someone with addictive behaviours. And that's one of the reasons why many people oppose it. I am not someone with an addictive behaviour perse, but I do often times realize how much time I spent on DBD just from playing the game.

I visit the forums almost daily. I'm not saying complaining didn't outright exist a year ago but there definitely was way less of it. Right now the front page is nothing BUT complaining. Criticism is fine of course, but speaking of things in a negative manner is different.
Edit: Might've misunderstood the sentence but my point still stands. I used to visit the forums of League of Legends a lot and even that wasn't in such a bad state as this forum.

Welcome to the club, my friend, I couldn't agree more. Not a single day can go by without at least a dozen negative threads being posted, most of which in my honest opinion, are overly nitpicky about every tiny little detail of the game, even things that don't even matter. I have been on some forums in my time, and before coming here, I was on the F13 game forum. I thought that was a negative place, but it doesn't even begin to compare to the negativity of this forum. It's why I don't post very often, unless it's something that I'm legitimately interested in.
Unlike the negative nancys that flood the forums on a daily basis with these unnecessary, and frankly, whiny, threads...I have better things to be doing with my time. Sad that's how they seem to spend their day, day after day. Of all the legitimate things to be worried about in life, why must a video game be number 1 on the list? 😕

So what do you expect there to be on the forums? They're generally used for complaints or general discussion. That's...basically every forum ever. If you want fun and wacky go to reddit and read memes all day.
Muh quality forum discussion where. You don't even talk about what you'd like to see or anything like that, you're whining the same as everyone else, ironically.

It's validity is dependent on one's own opinion.
To me, the complaint is just as valid as EVERY other complaint that currently exists on the forums.
Which also means that it's hypocritical.

Actually, just last game, I was looking at a Ghostface in the middle of nowhere and he didn't get revealed.
This happens to me every... time. It's really aggravating but don't worry, I already have an idea to fix him and I'll be posting that soon. 😁

no, calling out the fellow forum members for their obnoxious whining is not quite the same as whining about petty little changes and decisions by the devs.
people on here take every little complaint to a whole new level, some making thread after thread after thread to repeat their tired aimless complaints ad neaseum...
OP is merely pointing that out. and those who are trying point out the "irony" of such are simply advocating for more of the obnoxious whining and trying to be condescending at the same time.

If you don't whin, devs will do nothing.
Look at solo buff and weaker killer buff, people asks devs nicely and in civilized way to buff them, but nothing is done by devs
Look at nurse and spirit, or instaheal and initial MoM, they proved that enough whining can force devs to do things. It's called "feedback"

its why i took a long break from here. That and the name/post count circlejerking that took place over the first few months. As is the case with all non-anon forums
The worst part is the relentless screeching balance/nerf/buff threads that are clearly written from the POV of a player with a surv/killer bias and cant possibly look at things objectively

if something is legitamately buggy people should complain (or better yet not buy the same game full price each year like suckers lol, looking at you literally any sports or cod game)
