What Happened To Disconnect Punishments?
I play a decent amount of killer and survivor, and every day in both my killer or survivor days I can play an average of 10 games due to the que times. In nearly EVERY match a person will DC, and it’s annoying. But do they care? No, because they only lose 2 pips. Both sides suffer, and there’s nothing being done about it. But hey, at least we get new cosmetics every few weeks right?

Cosmetics are what keeps this game alive.
Cosmetics are the only thing that really matters. You have to look really cool when you get sacrificed on that hook. And only the cool people disconnect because it means that you can show off your crazy cosmetics to more people per hour.
They probably also know that they would've won anyways if the killer wouldn't play like a needy [EXTREMELY BAD WORD].

The plan for disconnects is addressed in the most recent developer update, in the section "Dedicated Servers": https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/103996/developer-update-november-2019
The plan is in this announcement as well: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/73858/

And the plan will only punish those who "disconnect excessively" so nothing will change.

It's a continual carrot on a stick. Dedicated Servers have been on for months now, it's not that hard to work out who DCs a lot, and yet this is like the 4th "dev update" in a row that's said "disconnect penalties are gonna be soon!"

Yea. It has to be "excessive".
Apparently one of the links above talks about the same system Identity V uses, with timers and locking people from playing... so that would be a good change. Hopefully that gets implemented soon.
Edit : Also note, that the link posted talking about this method of punishments is 6months~ old.

Why are you putting the blame on just killers? I’ve been in both killer and survivor matches where people DC after getting down quickly after the match starts. I’ve seen killers be sweaty all game, and run the meta only to DC once the last gen is popped. This isn’t a killer vs survivor issue, it affects both sides.

The problem is, survivors in your games probably won’t disconnect “excessively” so if a person with no disconnects that day happens to be in your game then it’s unlucky you.

What games are you playing? In both my survivor and killer games it's common for someone to DC the second they go down, which ruins the game.
Probably half my games someone DC's before death-hook, completely screwing over the survivors. At least if the killer DCs the game is instantly over and I don't have to wait to lose.

The keyword you said was, “someone” what i was saying was, the SAME PERSON that disconnected in a game you played most likely won’t encounter you again. But 10 strangers who plan to DC could.

Survivor mains have their bias i guess.
