Please Devs: Gen Speeds Need To Be Addressed
To put it simply: The current generator speed is not healthy for the game!
Because matches are ending in 3-5 minutes, Killers frequently have a 'whatever it takes' mindset to secure kills.
2 gens popped in your first chase of the match? Of course you're going to camp the dude you got; you spent nearly half the match chasing him!
2 gens remaining, and only one person sacrificed? Time to slug & buy time to find the others!
Any 'toxic' builds Survivors complain about (Chains Freddy, for example) exist to slow down gen speeds. The same with any 'toxic' play styles (like Slugging).
I'm honestly fed up with being attacked and insulted and treated like garbage for trying to buy 1-2 extra minutes to win. I'm tired to see people on these very forums who claim 'I ONLY disconnect against' insert any playstyle/Killer that slows down the gen speeds.
It's the genrush meta that's killing this game. Matches are not meant to end in 3-5 minutes, and totems are not fixing it. Totems are a band-aid on a missing limb; Sure, it's doing something..but nowhere near enough to be useful.
Again; gen speed needs to be looked at. If Killers had more time to play, they could allow an unhook instead of camping. They could pick up that Survivor instead of slugging them because they're worried the final gen will pop 4 minutes into the match.
So please, Devs; please let us know you're looking into this. Because the currently 3-5 minute match time is leading to toxic playstyles, which leads to toxic players, who then take it out on the next person(s), who then get toxic, and on and on.
Thank You.

You do realise that the more gens get done, the more pressure you have right? I understand this complaint when the gens are as far from each other as possible but how often does that actually happen? Also why are you complaining about gens being done when you are camping someone. The go to counter to camping from killer players is "just do gens" but then there are people like you saying "I wouldn't camp if survivors didn't rush gens".
This community is so backwards sometimes it's ridiculous.

I repeat if you don't play strong killer don't win a rank 1.
Because?
Because the gens are made too fast and the perks to slow them down are useless, you can never win if you don't tunnel.
Now they will say you are the one who knows how to use killer, the gens are good ECCC ..
I wonder the killer must have a lot of skill but the surv? To do a gen how much skill does it take? Who can't even do a perfect skillcheck.

I'm pointing out that Killers would not feel the need to camp if they did not feel a time pressure from the start of the match. You kind of missed the point, dude.
Killers did not camp as much before the genrush meta because they did not feel like they had to secure THIS kill, because, back then, 2-3 gens did not pop in the first chase like they do now.

Killers who camp generally camp just to camp. Either way, you camping is causing your own downfall, not the survivors. :/

This is not a discussion on if camping is viable, dude. It's a discussion on how Killers would camp less if they were not pressured to get 1 kill in a 4 minute match because 2 gens popped in the first minute and a half.
You're completely missing the point or trying to railroad the discussion away from my point. I'm not sure which.

So you're telling me that when you're pressed on time in a match, that you'll get a hook and further take up your own time to let everyone do gens instead of maybe getting them off gens and slowing the game down? If just one person goes for the save, that's two people by the hook, two people *potentially* on gens. Maybe you find one of those other two, that's one person *potentially* on a gen. If you're camping, once they realize it that's three people on a gen and the game is over faster. If you're not putting pressure on the gens, you're just asking to be rushed. Asking survivors to not to gens is like asking killers to not kill you. It's their main objective..

I literally told you in my first post that the more gens get done, the more pressure on gens you have. Camping is a sure fire way to lose that pressure due to the fact that you're just standing next to a hook, looking salty because you didn't take the time to think "hey, maybe I shouldn't stick to this chase, this survivor has been running me about for a significant amount of time and I'll lose pressure if I don't go back to patrolling gens soon".

- “Again; gen speed needs to be looked at. If Killers had more time to play, they could allow an unhook instead of camping”
So your belief is if gens took longer, we should just assume killers will play by an honor system with this additional time and no longer camp, tunnel, use slow down builds, etc? Nah, killers who play like that now would STILL play like that regardless. Thats the problem. That’s why if you desire longer games, you have to do something to both sides. How is it fair to slow survivors down, but still allow a killer to tunnel or camp their way to a win any time they please? Nope. They’d have to add something to killer to actually stop that playstyle along with adding a second survivor objective or whatever. That’s why it’s a lot more complicated than just “make gens take longer”. There’s so much more to it. Yes games can go fast, but the thing is the game is actually balanced going by kills/escapes. So kills are keeping up with those gens. Adding to both sides for balance is required...no more “genrush”? Ok, no more “killrush”. That’s fair.

That depends on the map and gen placement.

I literally stated that in the post

Wait you expected me to read ALL of it?

The problem isn't generator speed. It is many killers lack of ability to pressure survivors. Killers like Trapper, Wraith, and every other M1 killer aren't able to produce enough pressure to get survivors off of gens and keep them off. This is why Nurse, Billy, Spirit, and to a lesser extent, Freddy and maybe even Demogorgon are top tier. They can effectively traverse the map, while downing survivors at a quick enough pace to keep the pressure on, and keep them off of gens. A killer like Trapper, who has to go around setting traps, and Clown, a basic 115% killer has no help in traversing the map. If you break chase because a survivor is really good at looping or is at an infinite, guess what? Another survivor will just run to those loops/infinite. A killer needs to be able to counter loops/pallets and traverse the map effectively, something a lot of the weaker killers simple cannot do. It isn't the gen speeds that are flawed, it is the map designs themselves that are problematic.

Gen speeds suck because there are no other objectives required for survivors to escape.
IF they had to do something else before gens were finished or after several things would happen...
Survivors wouldn't be stuck on M1 simulator for longer than is necessary
More time would be shifted from the survivor side to the killer side due to the extra objectives, lessening the gen rush and giving survivors a more entertaining experience.
It would open up an opportunity for early and late game builds to shine.
More killers would become more viable and the stronger gen stall killers could be adjusted to be more fun for everyone.
This however will take at least as much effort as creating the EGC instead of new DLC so it probably won't happen...
Money before everything else of course.
