Farming Bannable?

A guy in my game dced and I let the survivors farm with me because of it, today it said I'm banned for inteional gameplay abuse. Is letting survivors farm because of a dc bannable or was this bannable a mistake because I was playing normally the other times.

As far as I know, farming is not allowed, no matter the circumstances, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

If anyone can also answer this: what about just ignoring players to do an achievement? Like "chase a survivor with this killer for x seconds" just let them do whatever and just chase them without downing them for a while just to do the challenge. Is that also bannable?

If it was for doing a challenge or an objective then no you cannot be banned. But if you purposely let them gain bloodpoints and letting them all escape then yes it is bannable.

Tunneling isn't bannable because it's considered a "strategy" that Killers can do, what this rule is speaking of is insistent targeting of one player for a specific reason.

That specific reason being devious or nefarious. Yes you could argue that tunneling someone repeatedly off a hook is considered within that rule, but what they mean is if you're targeting one specific person because of who they're, because you don't like them, because the other Survivors said to do it, etc.

As killer, I presume? Sounds like you didn't do anything wrong. As I said, the devs frown on farming because it's not really playing the game properly, but what you did is not against the game rules.

This happened to me once, the killer message us all saying he wanted to farm, I didn't reply and he targeted me while the others watched him hook me, let them unhook me only to hook me again until he killed me, they all were around the hook watching.

I clipped it and reported him both in game and via ticket. It says it's been "resolved" but of course it doesn't say if that player got a ban or not.

If it was resolved than he was most likely punished for it, despite not being given an answer on if he was or not.

It's mostly likely not given to the reporter so they don't parade around their ban or something along those lines.

I had something similar happen as survivor, only from the other side. The killer sent me a message along the lines of "let me hook you twice and then you can do what you want." So, at the beginning of the match I let him hook me twice, and then I went around and did my own thing earning points. Turned out I was the only one who messaged him back saying okay, but I didn't know that. When it was down to me and one other survivor, I saved him off the hook and the killer put him right back on. I was super confused. I got him off again and tried to body block, but the killer wanted him dead. It probably looked like I was helping the killer, but I wasn't. I had no control or influence in the situation.

I was worried I was going to get banned, but I never did. Don't know if the guy decided not to report it or if he only reported the killer or what.

I play like this too, in that I go easy on the survivors. Sometimes I kill, sometimes I don't. We all have fun, but I don't intentionally farm. If a survivor is in the gate, and I set a trap down, it's up to them if they want to run into it or not. If I show up as Legion and get two DC's in the match, I finish it up and close the hatch. The last guy can go open a gate for all I care. I don't see this as doing anything wrong.

Please fill out a ticket and update us on the situation. That sounds like the dumbest thing ever unless there is something your not mentioning.

IDK how some people can get so bent out of shape about farming. Points are capped so its not like you can use a match to cheat and gain 500,000 or something. Even then add ons and items don't ever seem to be the difference between a win or a loss unless everyone was or wasn't using something etc.

A lot of time as killer if I am happy with my score or just because I feel like being chill. I will let people go and even let chases happen again. Why not if we are having fun? I love when the survivors end up letting me practice with the Huntress or something by seeing if I can hit them from crazy distances etc.

Banning because of farming is just straight up stupid...

As far as I know it is not bannable.

The stated in a stream once that they think "nice" killers are weird, but it is not bannable.

(I'm at work rn so I can't look up the link, but the video is on youtube still)

You are not holding the game hostage and the survivors are not even forced to farm with you. They can go anytime they want, so I don't think anything about it is bannable.

But what would be bannable is, if you'd prevent one specific survivor from participating in the farming and getting any bloodpoints. Like targeting that one survivor and keep them slugged while the others do gens or unhooks, etc. If you actively and on purpose hinder one person in getting points, it could be bannable as far as I know.

  • As long as you don't force survivors (who refuse to farm) farm , it's not bannable

Just play how you want to play, the emblem system actually requires you to farm etc if a game goes bad real quick with 5 gen, what you gonna do then? Just end the game asap with little to no points? What if a player disconnected? How are you going to rank up/gained bloodpoint without farming? If i'm up against last person and i chase him around the map for points(breaking pallets etc) is technically is still farming right since i did not down him when i had the chance?

The devs have confirmed that if the farming is concentual to both killer and survivor, then yes it is allowed. However, if the survivor doesnt want to farm and the killer forces this then the killer is liable to get banned.

I didn't say it was? I never implied i should've known? I'm acknowledging the fact that of course they wont tell me... Geez.

I mean look at all the archive challenges...

  • Honestly if they banned you for that; even if it is against their rules it's kinda silly and petty.

@Waffleyumboy Or maybe not but reading some comment here they say dev do not like so they could just start banning out of blue for it

Someone wanna post their proof saying that Farming is bannable? Because I am more than certain it is not bannable - well at least it's not one enforced, and I vaguely remember seeing in a Q&A them say that farming wasn't an offense.

    Aahahhahahaha

You can farm - I do it all the time, particularly with stuff like the 2x Discord Grab challenge.

Because tunneling isnt done with the intent of ruining someones game experience 🙄.

What the rules are talking about there is say 1 game a person tbags excessively, and then the next game you see that person again and you down them and let them bleed out. THAT would be against the rules. The intent here was to SPECIFICALLY ruin their gameplay experience, where as with hard tunneling youre trying to get rid of the 1 of 4 in order to slow the game down.

Ok gonna say this if it was that that got you banned I wonder which one of them was hurt in their past they reported you for helping them out since they lost a teammate like just take the free help and move on if you want out faster finish your gens and escape don’t report someone for being nice

I farm all the time and I’ve never gotten a ban or anything. I also won’t kill survivors unless they ask, if they don’t wanna participate i let them do gens.

Farming isn't bannable. Whoever said that is literally saying the opposite of what the devs did. COTE said in reference to the Halloween event that if killers and survivors want to work together and get more points, that's up to them. What's NOT allowed is working with the killer/survivor to spite another survivor. If you message them "hey they're hiding X y x over there", that's griefing/working with the killer.

If farming was getting people banned, youd only ser tryhards, potatoes, and a lot of pissed off people considering cote gave it the greenlight.

Also. ######### is up with these necros.

Honestly, how could it even be bannable?

The killer is under no obligation to play a certain way, or to even play well, for that matter.

Now, the survivors have some obligation to not work against their teammates, but that's about it.

If farming were bannable, is giving someone the hatch at the end also bannable? You just helped them get a chunk of BP, after all.

Farming is not gonna get anyone banned unless you're holding the game hostage or working with the killer to target and harass a specific survivor. As long as survivors can choose to play the game normally, fix gens, and leave, it's fine.

You play dbd to get chased by a killer so you should be banned for farming. You can play how ever you want but farming isn't even what people expect when they get into dbd
