Counterplay against Spirit
Since I am struggling with her, I wanted to ask here what counterplay exactly do I have against a Spirit once I am injured? I could really need some help against her. Because no matter what I try, since I'm injured she can simply hear where I am.

take a coin and flip it when shes phasing, heads = go left tails = go right. literally all u can do.

It literally is a coin flip. Less 50/50 and more 75/25 on if she gets you or not, especially if you're injured.

Ignoring the coin flip people I would ask where you usually struggle against her ?

There are some window or pallet jukes you can do but it really is 50/50. Perks like spine chill make it a lot easier to keep track of when she's phasing, since most spirits don't stare at your location as they phase around. Iron Will pretty much forces her to predict your movment, but if she's running Stridor she'll hear you regardless. Just try your best to waste her time for as long as possible so your team has time to do gens.

"Spine Chill" is very good against her. "Iron Will" gets hardcountered by "Stridor". Try to extend the chase as long as you can by being unpredictable.

I mean it's a 50/50 when uninjured, but yeah my problem is when she is injured. But still some might have some tips that can help.

I mean I can't exactly say where. Whenever I am injured and when she is phasing. That's when it seems like I can't really do anything since she can hear me.

Yeah those perks can help. I'm more hoping for actual counterplay to exist and not picking a certain perk though, but I might start running Spine Chill more often again. But thx.

Yeah it's just really not fun to go against a killer whose counterplay is solely luck based. At least because when you are injured she does seem to have quite the advantage.
I'm also at green ranks right now, and the gens don't often go very fast.

bring iron will and spine chill. both are great perks against spirit and any stealth killer. it works wonder trust me.

At red ranks they can go very fast. Spirit is one of the few killers that can actually keep up with thay pace. Best advice I can give is be stealthy and work through gens. Her power is at its weakest when you're healthy, so if she finds you, loop her and don't fall for the stand still mindgame.

If you see her standing still all of sudden , she is phasing no questions asked.
If she already phased and stands still all of sudden, just run the power is on CD, you have 20 seconds to make distance. (or less depending on addons)
If you have a safe vault, go for it and keep running, even when she phases she still needs to catch up.
If you dont know if she is gonna vault pay attention to the red stain, that moves while vaulting. (Well this tip gonna get redundant in a few days)
Quick and quiet and dance with me are also good choices (goes for every killer not only spirit) if you have lithe too then you can easily put some distance and even escape (well depends on the map and if she has los on you)
Another thing that the coinflippers ignore, EVERYTHING MAKES A SOUND, GRASS MOVING , FOOTSTEPS those also give you away the location if a good spirit (or other killer in general) listens for those. (I gotten soo many downs because the claudette wouldn't stop moving in the bloody grass after i hooked someone)
Also genrush, its very, very effective on a spirit that fails to win chases fast.

Ignoring the 50/50 people, it's really about thinking like her, but she's gonna know you're trying to mislead her most times. I once met a p3 spirit who did not hit me once during an entire match because I kept thinking like her. I ran her to a pallet, ran slightly past it, walked back(fixated works well for this tactic), slammed it, fast vaulted it, waited 2 seconds, fast vaulted again, then slow vaulted, and by that time, her power ran out and she swung, hitting the wall.

Well make sure your bee lining fo err a pallet or window..that way she cant just run at you and has to guess where your going..using a system of baits and fakes force her to wait for her power again as long as you can..shes a chaser so you likely cant evade her forever..iron will is also God tier vs..everyone..especially her..spine choll let's you know when shes looking at you allowing you to juke around as well..dont loop her at pallets as you'll just allow her less phasing usage to reach you..use the pallet as a bait or barrier instead..you dont play her chases normally as you may of deduced but it's more than doable

There is no "do that and she's screwed" with spirit. That's why she's a good killer.

I have gotten to rank 1 with killer multiple times, I know how fast gens can go. I don't necessarily think she is op, but I am having a hard time when I'm injured. And it does seem very luck based going against her. But yeah, fast gens can counter pretty much any killer, or at least give you a fair chance to win.

Yeah, it's just I'm hoping for more counterplay without having to use certain perks.
1 -
Yes I know that, I'm just trying to find counterplay so it's not "she does that and I am screwed" while I am injured. I do get that you have fair counterplay while not inured, even though it's almost purely luck based.

I mean, 50/50 is something that should be with all killers. More or less at least, since that means there's a mindgame at play that both the killer and survivor can win with equal chances. Of course the occasional safe pallet is fine. The only problem I have with Spirit is for one her counterplay is almost entirely luck based, and two while you are injured it doesn't feel like a 50/50 anymore. At least in my experience, which is why I made this post.
Does your counterplay example work while injured as well? I guess a Spirit can't tell on which side of a pallet or vault you are even if she can hear your sounds of injury. But once she brakes the pallet and you can't reach another pallet before she catches up to you by phasing while you are injured, the only thing you can do is try and juke her, but if she can hear you, that's not possible.
1 -
Thx for the suggestions. I still feel like it's very hard to have any counterplay against her while she can hear you when you are injured though.

I'd say your best bet against her is to slow vault when she is phasing and pass by pallets when she is phasing towards you.
Also another good strategy is running around close by a window, and right when you think she is gonna come out of her phase run to the window and fast vault. The running will attract her to your side of the window.

like what? looping? try something new. your stuck in you mindset.

Posts like these don't help at all. At the very least suggest something to counter her as well.
Oh right, they are all unreliable anyway and requires the Spirit to be bad.
EDIT: excluding perks*

What? No not looping. I know you can't just loop her. I get that that's no counterplay to her. That's why I made this post. To find out what counterplay she might have that I am missing. At least when I am injured. That's pretty logical, or not?
So please, tell me the "something new" I should try. That's the entire point of this post.

I run iron will usually, no mither will make you not leave blood if that's a trade-off you're willing to make. I personally like running iron will and quick and quiet, it opens up alot of possibilities to outplay many killers

Iron Will is good no doubt. I was just hoping for counterplay that doesn't depend on picking certain perks.
I do really want to start and use Quick and Quiet, but I don't think I even have it unlocked at level 3 for any of my survivors.

The thing is that iron will has quite a few situations where it's good, so it's on my mainboard for sure. Quick and quiet at any level is worth taking in my opinion

@ad19970 Well, 50/50 is not really the goal. The game is 4 vs 1 and needs the killer to be in advantage, but with a possibility for the survivors to escape. Surely against the spirit you have the lowest chances to escape compared to other killers.
@ad19970 @Rinthespooki The first two points I would warn about. It is also common to just wait as spirit to see where the survivor is going when expecting a phase. If coming closer, it is an easy hit, if crouching left, easy catching up as you know the position even without scratchmarks. Also you can't specifically say if the Spirit used up all the power. You don't always know how long the Spirit was phasing, so the power might be back within 5 seconds. Just to keep in mind.
@All Everyone suggests Spinechill. But can you give precise examples how to use the information? Like Spirit is looking at me, so get away from the window or what? And walk away or run back over your scratchmark path? And what shall you try to do when spinechill is off within a chase?

Just give us our 4k and move on

No not in general. But I'm talking about one loop. If that loop is a 50/50 mindgame, that's good because it gives both players counterplay. This is not about the entire match.
If every loop was a 50/50 mindgame, that would mean you'd be able to down a survivor at the third or fourth loop in a chase at average. Which would be quite strong even with the current gen times.
