Who would the worst possible existing killer to add to DbD be?
It doesn't necessarily need to be something from movies, as long as it does already exist in fiction and is not a classification such as "werewolf" or "vampire." Be specific. They must be humanoid.
I vote Jeff the Killer. Worst fictional serial killer I have ever seen. Has nothing interesting he can do. Looks dumb. Etc.
If we're talking killers that are actually from horror icon material I would say probably The Creeper. Just because flying would not work well in DbD and throwing things has already been done. There's nothing that could be done with him.

Pennywise.
I just despise the idea of him coming to DBD.

I think a Slenderman or FNAF killer would be awful, I would really not want them to be in the game ever.
25 -
I think Slender could work if they based it more off the arrival game, have the player play as the chaser/proxy while Slender is a computer controlled entity moving around the map that harrasses survivors who look at him.
That said, I think the worst possible killers would be anything from FNAF, 95% because of the people that come with it, 5% because an entire franchise based on "It just fill your screen and REEEEEEs" isn't horror.
Close runner up to creepypastas and SCPs. I know this is contradictory cos of Slender, but that's really grown as an actual franchise more than any of the other... things.

Unpopular opinion, but same.

You know legion frank/Julie is debatable a spin-off of jeff/jane the killer right? Has the same characters always smiling, like to stab people and went full crazy when he is attacking similar to frenzy. I'm hoping for a jeff/jane the killer mask in the future for legion.
1 -
Chucky. You already know why.
31 -
I thought they were based off of home invasion movies like The Strangers or The Purge
3 -
For me, Pennywise.
I just don't think that we need 2 clowns in the game, even if one is a pop culture icon, and the other is Pennywise.
Although, I go by my moral: If it contributes something beneficial to the game, then I wouldn't mind it being added.
Also Jeepers Creepers.
7 -
They've said on stream Legion is based on the archtype of the psycho killer rushdown style of attacking. It's something that's existed for decades before that stuff.
5 -
Pennywise
We allready have 2 clowns in game we don't need more
5 -
Hate to say it but name other psycho killer who has similar rushdown style of attacking? Existed for decades? I don't recall any memorable killers tbh, and to have male/female version?
0 -
Mostly Ghostface, they came before we had him and are largely inspired by him. A memorable mask, the running style of attacking from the movies. (And the fact that it was designed by a dev team who was older than 12)
It's also something that's largely present in a lot of movies with more generic characters, like Rob Zombie ######### that's just filled with "murderer 1, 2 and 3," and tends to be more present in games with characters who chase more than jumpscare.
Hell you want multiple stabbings you can go all the way back to Psycho.
6 -
You're just naming killers who use knives now, and ghostface already has a dlc, so you telling me thats after releasing legion who from your view heavily inspired from ghostface, they released ghostface after? i'm asking you to evaluate legion(male/female) as a whole with his skills and then narrow down your list of potential adaptations

I'm obviously going to be biased, and hated for defending FNaF here, but I feel like people give it a lot less credit than it deserves sometimes.
I, as someone who's liked the games since day one, think that FNaF has become greatly oversaturated with all sorts of different games. It was originally only supposed to be FNaF 1, 2, and 3, but after 3 was received poorly, he made 4, and after that was received poorly... it sort of just spiraled out of control from there.
That being said, there's still a reason it's still alive today. FNaF has an extremely creative community, constantly producing many neat and original fan games that aren't that bad. The reason why people associate FNaF with a younger audience is because... well, that's what it is. FNaF has a T rating compared to DbD's M rating, so it only makes sense that it would attract a younger audience. Regardless of the community, the lore of the series goes pretty in depth, and I think that's where people begin to merge it with the idea of a FNaF character coming to DbD. It's why when someone brings up the idea, Springtrap (the main killer of the franchise) is mostly always the wanted killer, and NOT Freddy.
Here's the lore of the character. Obviously, I'm not going to make you read it if you don't want to (just skip the next paragraph then), but it sort of provides the argument for why many people think he should be included in DbD.
In a summary, Springtrap was an employee of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza that lured dozens of children into a backroom, trapping them and killing them. The trapped spirits of the children eventually are accidentally freed, corner him into a lethal animatronic suit, which killis him, but his spirit lived on. After several decades, the decaying suit (with his corpse inside) is brought over to a tourist attraction, which later burns down. He survives the fire, and manages to arrive at an unknown establishment, where he is lured inside alongside the last remaining trapped spirits. That place turns out to be a trap built by his former coworker, and the place is lit on fire, killing and releasing the spirits of everyone inside. Springtrap is then sent into an eternal purgatory, where he suffers against all of the abominations he made for all of eternity.
It's why I personally feel cheated everytime someone just says "FNaF is cringey jumpscare material! Of course it shouldn't be included as a killer" and call it a day. There is more to it than what meets the eye. However, if you were to read through the full lore, many arguements, and many concepts, and THEN decide that FNaF wouldn't be a good addition, that's perfectly fine. I personally think that Springtrap would be a pretty cool addition, but I understand that's not a popular opinion. I also understand that this game is sort of taboo when it comes to DbD, but I highly encourage people to give it a fair chance before deciding on a final verdict.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Scream, The Strangers. Basically any movie where the killer realistically sprints after their victim and stabs them to death.
There were tons of killers like that in B movies throughout the 70's and 80's.
7 -
You litereally said "name other killers" then complained "you're just naming killers"
7 -
It's not one given thing, that's why I clearly stated "Legion is based on the archetype," in the same sense that Spirit borrows elements from many Japanese ghost girls like Kayako, but isn't based on any given one. They're original characters.
If you're going to demand one, then yes, Legion is majorly based on Scream, which has had 6 male and 3 female portrayers (which for some reason seems to be your defining factor of them) that I can remember. Their relentless pursuing nature, vicious and often multiple, non-lethal stabbings are iconic to the movies, and are largely present even so far back as the first scene with Drew Decker.
If anything the nature of their power is more reflective of Ghostface than GHOSTFACE'S, which makes sense as they don't actually have the rights to Scream to make him the exact character. Ghostface was always in Sidney's face and wanted attention. He watched his victims but he always played with his food, where our GF stalks and moves in for one solid blow that downs people.
So yes, they borrow from a lot of killers, many less memorable ones because they are based on a concept more than any one example, but no, they aren't the DBD dev's adaptation of a crappy photoshop with a paragraph of story.

creature from the black lagoon. He's the cheesiest of the monsters to the point they made him cheesier in the Land of the Lost.

anything from space

But don't you want to see Cryptosporidium 137 as a killer in DbD? 😩

a Jeepers Creepers chapter.
no. just no.

Legion (Frank) does bare a striking resemblance to Jeff the Killer the more I compare how they both look side by side. The sinister creepy smiles, the eyes how they look lidless giving the feel that they are staring into your soul, the jacket despite being leather, it still looks similar to Jeff’s hoodie. I guess the devs did use Jeff as inspiration for Legion.
As for the actual discussion at hand, Slender Man. As much as I would like to see Slendy In the game and seems like a good fit, but as someone else stated, Slender man does not kill, he takes people and infects their minds. He can’t spread his influence if his victims are dead, nor would I see Slender man serve The Entity, seeing as Slender Man is perhaps a god itself of another world

Well, apart from the stigma surrounding FnaF, Springtrap brings his own design challenges.
What would his power be? How would you create a power that both fits the themes of FnaF, and fits into the gameplay of DbD?
The animatronics' methods of killing tend to be too straightforward to provide interesting gameplay. Usually they just sneak up on you, sometimes crawling through the vents, then either forcefully stuff you into an animatronic suit (Which doesn't sound like it would be fundamentally different from hooking survivors), or kill you offscreen somehow. Maybe they strangle/crush you with their bare hands or bite your head off? Either way, what would differentiate them from killers like Myers or Ghostface?
What would his animations look like? The animatronics have never had any 3D walking animations, much less all the animations you'd need for a full-fledged DBD killer. The FnaF games leave a lot to the imagination. It'd be difficult to create a killer that captures the same emotions one feels when playing a FnaF game when they're a fully visible and mobile creature, instead of a killer that briefly appears on a camera, or in a dark corner of your vision, before vanishing in the blink of an eye, then pouncing right in your face.
3 -
Why? He’s such a funny and unique killer compared to everyone else in the game. Obviously he was scrapped already because they couldn’t do the flying killer thing but he can still run fast and throw ninja stars and stuff

Cause Jeeper Creeper's director was a pedo and got jailed for it. BHVR has been quoted as they don't want anything to do with it.

Stupid: FNAF or anything creepypasta
Hard to balance: Leprechaun or Chuckie.

Speaking of Psycho... GIVE US A NORMAN BATES CHAPTER.

The Tina Tinkles doll.
Don't... think about it.

I want fnaf, not because I think it would be good, but because it would make everyone mad and I find that funny too watch.
For me, the killer I don't want is Pennywise. Ignoring the argument of 2 clown killers, he's a god, so I find it very hard too believe he could be controlled like a puppet by the entity.
4 -
Yeah, he's literally a cosmic force. Most things in King's books could eat Entity for breakfast.
1 -
Is it because you don't like the character or because you want to keep your shins?
1 -
I wouldn't be opposed too the idea of Springtrap in DBD, but it isn't something I'm holding my breath for. I'm more interested in the hate it would cause. Angry rants are cupcakes too me >:)

FNAF AR has Springtrap with fully fledged movement, and his power could be something like doctors where it creates the Phantoms from FNAF 3 too scare and distract survivors. The only problem for me would be his design and what survivor would be used. It's not like anyone you play as has a face.

Pennywise.
His character design in the remake is awful. Also, I'd be disappointed to find out Pennywise is willing to share his meals.
1 -
Pennywise is a god? How was a god defeated by a handful of mere mortals? Pennywise may be an ancient, eldritch being, but I'd hesitate to call him a god if he can taste defeat at the hands of normal humans.
The Entity could destroy all of its victims if it wanted to, and all efforts to challenge the Entity's power have ended in abject failure.
2 -
It's cause he let himself have that weakness. It's all very weird but if you read the book it explains it more.
3 -
I haven't read the books, so I may be off, but I do know Pennywise is essentially a god of pure Evil, while the turtle is a god of pure good. And the loosers club beat him in the books (again, may be wrong here.) because the turtle gave them cosmic powers too kill/banish Pennywise off of earth.
And of course those who challenged the Entity lost, they are all humans. Pennywise isn't. It's why he simply wouldn't fit. It doesn't make sense that an all powerful God of Evil could be controlled by another God of Evil.
3 -
Yeah you are right. The first time they beat Pennywise, it was cause of the Turtle.
2 -
Personally, I want Jack Torrence as a Killer for a Shining Chapter. he would fit much better then Pennywise IMO.
3 -
Surely you meant Slender Man?
0 -
Why not both?
1 -
Oooo agreed. But what would his power be? Perks?
0 -
Not every killer is "a puppet." Freddy is on a similar level of power to Pennywise, I'd say, and proves to be basically unkillable over and over, yet chooses to be in the fog.
Clown has basically come in completely by choice to kill people. It's not as black and white.
1 -
Hate to break it to you, those characters are way too cartoonish and would never be added do to that reason. I could never see Bhvr putting it into the game. They aren't dumb enough to do so lol
1 -
Freddy Fazbear is a robot possessed by a dead child, Pennywise is a god. They are def not on equal power.
Ignoring that, A better killer from FNAF would be Springtrap since he was the original killer. I could see Springtrap joining willingly, but I can't see Pennywise doing so since he's so powerful already he doesn't need another gods help too kill people.

No, Freddy, the iconic killer known by generations from A Nightmare on Elm Street, not some crap toy.
1 -
Have you seen Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and onward? That series turned more cartoony then FNAF did IMO. Freddy never wipped out a Power Glove and killed someone in a video game.
yes, FNAF is cartoony, but there is always a very serious undertone when it comes too the lore once you dig a little. Elm Street after the third Movie simply got way too goofy and silly too be scary, and the director of 4 said he wanted Freddy to be like James Bond.
Leatherface got REALLY, REALLY cartoony there for a while. With every movie pretty much making a new timeline, and most of them went more comedy then horror, it got out of hand fast.
Ashe from Evil dead comes from a horror comedy, and If you watch Ashe Vs. Evil dead, that show get's cartoony pretty fast.
Simply put, just because there is a cartoony element in a movie/game doesn't mean it won't fit DBD. Most of the big names in DBD atm got really goofy, cartoony, and out of hand at some point in their careers. I think Demogorgon is the only licensed killer that was brought in and it still is a very serious show.

probably should of specified that when there's 2 freddies mate. Even still, Freddy Krueger is still just a Spirit/Demon, he isn't a god. He def isn't stronger then the Entity power wise. My point still stands that Pennywise wouldn't join the Entity willingly, and I highly doubt the Entity is stronger then Pennywise.
0 -
I'm saying the looks.. no one would ever take going against a cartoony looking furry seriously. It would be a bad image for the game. Not only that but your argument makes no sense, the reason they acted cartoony is because they were self conscious about what they were doing, and the characters would still be taken seriously even with the jokes at times. Apparently you don't watch much of the movies it seems.
