The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

List of annyoing things in the game and solution ideass

1.      Ranking System (and rank reset)

There are two major issues with the current ranking system. First of all, frequent resets are bad for matches because they too often enable being matched vs. different ranks. Imagine in SCII if a Master player was too often matched against silver. The second issue is that ranking up as survivor is too easy. (Not necessarily surviving – just ranking up). With the current ranking system the only way I can derank as survivor is if I a) get found first b) get tunneled c) got nothing done and had a bad chase. In all other cases you will at least keep ur rank or pip up. This makes even higher/red ranks popluated by players of very different skill levels. I think it would be a lot healthier for the game if survivor rank somehow meant skill. Currently I feel that ranking up as killer is a lot harder (which I like).

Solution:

- change ranking up conditions for survivors

- less frequent rank resets

2.      The Archives

Some archive quests provoke unhealthy gameplay, especially if more people at once try to do them. Now this is not that big of an issue but certainly annoying. Also, if everybody has the same quests, it kind of makes the game less diverse (e.g. 90% of killer playing the trapper for 2 weeks).

Solution:

- let different people have some sort of random archive (or at least different options)

- watch out for quests that lead to toxic survivor behavior towards their teammates

3.      Survivors just hiding

Recently, it has frequently happened to me that survivors just hide. They will not attempt to do any objectives at all but just want to hold the game hostage as long as they can. They will move just enough to avoid having ravens put on them. Sure at some point in time you will find them – but if a survivor just hides without doing anything it takes a long time. For survivors, such behavior serves no purpose but to actively troll the killer; for killers it is just boring and frustrating.

Solution:

Easy fix. If a survivor does not do any objectives (healing/gens/totems etc.) within 2 minutes, an afk raven will mark them.

4.      Unsafe Unhooks

One of the things that infuriates me the most when playing survivor, is when teammates throw you under the bus by unhooking you next to the killer.

Solution:

  • add an ability to refuse unhooks and kick the person away
  • when you are on a hook and a person approaches you, you can see their perks (to make an informed decision whether or not to accept the unhook).

5.      Attack of the Clone Claudettes

This game has many interesting characters and many nice outfits. Yet, there is one which is – when tryharding – far superior to others: Claudette P3 (for obvious reasons). As a killer, I am tired of playing against the bloody clone warrior claudettes every second game. It is utmost boring.

Solution:

Change Claudette’s prestige outfits to something that does not offer an unfair advantage over other character outfits.

6.      Hex Ruin

There are two things which annoy me about Hex:Ruin. Firstly, it is more or less necessity. Without it, high ranked games end absurdly fast. Secondly, it is rng-based in a bad way. Depending on where it spawns it can be great for the whole game or useless and disabled within the first 20 seconds of the game. This feels bad for both sides.

Solution:

  • Option a) Change ruin from a hex to an ability that will slowly decrease in effectiveness over the first minutes of the game.
  • Option b) Let the killer place the hex on a totem of his choice. It becomes active once he does so. This will eliminate the possibility to instantly lose it and also add an element of skill by letting the killer choose but at the same time forcing him to choose quickly.

7.      The Killer House

The killers house is a badly designed spot. As long as the god-pallet is up, it is ultra safe and ultra boring. Any decent survivor will not ever get hit in the house as long as the pallet is up. It offers no viable mindgames for the killer and high ranked survivors could loop this thing with their eyes closed and their hands tied behind their backs (and have been doing so for years). Frustrating for killers, but also boring for survivors.

Solution:

  • Option a) make the god-pallet a random spawn
  • Option b) add another door to the house to make the loop shorter and mindgames possible
  • Make the house exciting again

8.      Keeping the Exit Gate 99% done

Currently it seems to be meta to keep the gate almost finished when there is something to do. This more or less nullifies the end game collapse mechanic and is basically risk-free. I suspect that this is more of an unexpected abuse of the mechanic than something that was intended to ever exist.

Solution:

  • Option a) the completion of the gate fastly decreases while noone is using the switch.-
  • Option b) if you abandon the switch, and it is above 80% done, you have to start at 80% again.

With my list I tried to mostly not interact with balance overall because that is an escpecially problematic topic in this game but to simply improve quality of life for everybody.

Would love to hear your opinions about my list and would love the hear what you think needs fixing.

I didn't read the whole thing I'm just going to address #4.

Kicking would be abused by some survivors that want to troll others. Imagine doing that on purpose to get someone else killed. That's what will happen.

As for revealing perks, I kinda like the idea you can see their perks, but I think it should only work for BT and We'll Make It because those are the two important ones. Show them as the blue icon if they will activate when you get saved (ie. you see the BT icon if BT will proc on your unhook). Showing their entire build is unnecessary and cumbersome though.

You have to be joking. The devs have answered all of these questions many times and your suggestions are not thought through at all. What I was hoping to see was the fact that all survivors are just skins but you're obviously a killer main that has no regard to the fact survivors (even ones in solo queue) are living humans with feelings.

I am not joking and find your accusations unfriendly and unwarranted. I do not see where any of those changes make me a person with no regard for other human beings feelings. That is an extremely unfriendly way to talk to another person who just made some suggestions. But that is sadly the way some people like to communicate online.

I'd really prefer if you could explain why you think so because I feel that my suggested changes would not really affect balance a big deal. Except maybe the killer house, but t that thing even bores me as survivor.

Also I find it annoying that all survivors are just skins and not unique - but I feel that special perks that are locked to survivors would require tons of balancing changes or a big survivor overhaul. If you just decicded to lock existing perks into certain survivors that would anger many people who would lose that perk on their favorite character and influence balance way more than the things i suggested.
