Basement 2: Bug Boogaloo (and what to do)

Currently, there is a bug in the basement that negatively affects Survivors. Once hooked, a player will normally suffer from an effect (screen going white, constant falling, etc) that will prevent them from playing the rest of the match.

Several people have made posts about this but due to the negative tone I have decided to create a discussion on what to do whilst the bug remains in-game.

Survivors:

  • If possible, try to avoid the Basement. This may be an inconvenience and some situations require you to head nearby, but if you can plan ahead and avoid when possible, this will ensure you are less likely to be hooked there.
  • If you're saving a Survivor in the Basement, do an attempted unhook before committing to it. Several players have mentioned that this has prevented the bug, so following suit with this may help reduce the amount of times the bug is experienced.
  • Record/take photos of the bug if you experience it. Sending these to BHVR will help them isolate the cause of the bug and will speed up the process of them fixing it.
  • Post-match, don't shout accusations at the Killer. There are many Killers that still don't know about this bug and some Killers are trying to do Challenges that require use of the Basement. Instead, inform the Killer of the bug and hopefully they'll take what you said on board to be a good Samaritan.

Killers:

  • If you are aware of the bug, please try to avoid hooking the Survivors in the Basement. I know there will be situations where the Survivor is downed by the Basement and that several Challenges require you to use the Basement, but if you can avoid hooking a player, please do.
  • Do challenges that do require using the basement for now, I know this is very inconvenient but it will discourage you actively looking to hook Survivors in the Basement and lead to a better quality match.
  • Record the match/take photos of the bug/post-match chat if one of the Survivors says they experienced the bug. As mentioned earlier, sending these to BHVR will help them isolate the cause of the bug and will speed up the process of them fixing it.
  • Post-match, inform the Survivors of the bug. Hopefully they'll take what you said on board and attempt to avoid the Basement a bit more.
