"Unnerving Encounter" Challenge
Prevent any exit gates from being opened with Unnerving Presence.
So if one survivor escapes through hatch I'm fine?

Yes.

Yep. I got a 3k with the last survivor getting hatch and I still completed the challenge.

I think some of the challenges are meant to encourage people to try builds with underused perks. They're not necessarily difficult to complete, but force you to switch up your buildout and potentially discover new interesting builds.

Yeah, you are absolutely right. They could definitely think of more creative challenges tied to these perks.. or if not creative, then at least something that's more related to their use. E.g. have survivors miss 5 skill checks in your terror radius with the perk unnerving presence, vault 5 windows with spine chill active or something like that.
I'm also a little concerned that in future tomes we might get more of the same challenges. Not that i didn't enjoy them this time around, but repeating them will become relatively boring pretty quick.

Unnerving Presence is one of The Trapper's perks, and this Tome is themed around him.

He gets a whole tome, but he can't carry two traps at the same time in his base kit? I feel he would appreciate that second trap more.

It could help by preventing survivors from finishing gens/healing as quickly...by like .5% throughout the entire match :P

well, I get what you're asking for and, in principle, you are right.
You have to consider though that not all perks effects are in your direct control, meaning that a challenge that exploits their ability could become unfair.
Unnerving Presence makes skill checks more difficult, meaning that in order to have a challenge that uses this perk you should have something like make survivor(s) fail X skill checks.
What if survivors don't fail skill checks? How can you change that? You can't - and for high rank killers this could be a real problem. In fact, the only somehow reliable build with this hypothetical challenge is a Doctor game with both Unnerving Presence and Overcharge, maybe even Distressing. Not really a Trapper Tome, as you see.
On the other hand, prevent Exit Gate(s) from being opened using Unnerving Presence translates to Play a very good game as a killer while using Unnerving Presence. Or, in other words, come up with a proper strategy/build that includes Unnerving Presence and enables you to play well throughout the whole trial.
Maybe not a very inspired challenge, but at least a fair one.

Apparently if everyone DCs and someone escapes through the hatch... than the challenge ALSO finishes.
That's how I finished it... SOMEHOW THAT WORKS! (And no, I didn't want them all to DC... they just did...)
That isn't intentional I hope. (The thing I said above for the OP).

I even got it when one of the gates got opened. I remember that I scared a survivor off the gate switch, but that gate was opened later. Either a bug or that moment already counted as success

Thank you for your help guys. Really appreciate it.

Hmmm that sounds wrong. Report it in the bug section of the forum! :)

So the mystery man in Dark Sense's icon is Evan confirmed? 😜
Also, this makes me wonder what challenges would apply to Wraith's Perks, since his are mostly QoL Perks that always work.
Like what, trigger an amount of chases with Shadowborn?
Be in a chase for X seconds with Predator?
Or will it be like Unnerving Presence: Prevent any Exit Gates from opening with Predator? 😂

I'm pretty sure that is intentional. The challenge has two conditions: use Unnerving Presence, and don't let any gates get opened. That's it. Otherwise it would say something like "Kill all 4 survivors before any Exit Gates are opened using Unnerving Presence" or "Prevent any survivors from escaping using Unnerving Presence". Given the way it's worded, it's a good thing that it does what it says on the tin, otherwise that would just be bad UI design.

Yes but still, the fact it still gave it to me in a like... 30-60 second match is amazing lmao...
Like its cool that it does what it says... but it should really be more specific. Something like "Don't let anyone open the Exit Gates once they're powered AND use Unnerving Presence."
Something like that... having 3 people DC in under 30 seconds and someone escaping through hatch shouldn't reward me with the challenge.

I'd argue that's pretty much exactly what it does say. If you can get the same message across with less words, that's always better, especially when you're doing UI design. But it doesn't really matter too much at this stage 🤷

I'm not denying that it does exactly what it says, I just find it funny that specifically DCing and a hatch escape works... despite it working within the challenges guidelines.
It would be better if the Exit Gates had to be powered for it to count In my opinion... but that's just me. I'm not a dev, nor am I working with the team on the challenges specific guidelines. So whatever it works with is what it works it, that's about it.
