People gen tapping at Red ranks
I swear I see at least one person every other game, is this just me noticing for the first time? Or is it because of the new reset that more people are red rank and “don’t deserve it,” if you understand my meaning.

People self-caring in red ranks. The new rank reset throws more and more people into red ranks.

Heck im rank 4 and I most def dont belong there.
That said gen tapping... idk why people care so much about that.
5 -
Ranks don't mean anything these days.
I've seen a rank 3 survivor self care against noed

Red rank survivor is so easy to reach, especially after tier 2 tome and even reworked tier 3 tome. The sheer number of matches you had to do without throwing them makes it easy to pip up to that area. Add in that rank reset is only about half as 'deadly' and they will constantly get back up there after a week or so.

Since the new ranking system was implemented I have seen a influx of bad red/purple rank players. The game is a mess in this state. It's a huge gamble playing solo right now with the way the ranking/matchmaking works. I try as much as possible to play with SWF groups.

It's their emblem system. A few weeks ago I went through purple ranks to red ranks without touching a single gen, trying to do archives. I did totems, saved and healed people and was trying to activate mettle of man lol. And I piped most of the games. Ranks don't mean much.

Had a rank 3 last night not looking behind them in a chase and running along the sides of the map. You can't balance around red ranks properly because it is mixed with actual rank 1s and rank 10s

To be honest, that just show how little rank means in DBD, we'll be getting a rank rework in 2020 though, so hopefully we'll get an actual rank system !

- Since when rank means anything? as surv as long as youre not hard tunneled or afk you wont de-pip
- There is plenty of 130h players in red ranks
- At least they are doing gens (most of my "teammates" are looking for ruin for 5min)
- Just find ruin so they can stop tapping Kek

I think what sets the difference in the red rank survivors this season from good and bad is you’ll notice a huge skill gap between rank 4 to rank 1. You’ve still got lower tier purple ranks getting to level 4. But most lower quality red ranks from what I’ve seen have a hard time getting past level 3. They usually won’t make it out of or past three. I’ve got rank one through all the ranking updates and by far this update has made it the most obtainable. I’m playing level 2-3 killers and they aren’t that great.. hell even level one killers. Before this update it was a lot more grindy. A true purple rank player would never really get past 5 maybe reach 4 towards the end. And you’re higher tier “sweat” survivors were rank 1-2 half through season. They need to fix it though. I’m playing with bad red ranks now.

I’m already at rank 2 and I was on vacation the first Four days of reset, and I am not that good. Generally I would reach rank 1 by about three weeks into reset, now I’m there in a couple days.
grest point, tapping is better than running the map three times looking for ruin for 10 minutes

Self caring isn’t always a bad thing, I still occasionally bring self-care and it isn’t as big of a waste as people say.
2 -
I’ve de-pipped for escaping when the killer only got one hook
0 -
How? Did you hide in a locker or behind a tree all game?
I almost literally can’t Depip as survivor, the only time it happens is if I get tunneled right away or 2 teammates DC and the killer still plays sweaty

It may take a while for a gen to be completed by gen tapping but I still prefer gen tapping teammates over those that look for Ruin ALL GAME.
3 -
I did gens, got chased, cleansed bones and escape. Altruism is a very important category.

but when killer hooked 1 surv, hes semi afk (so bad he almost count as staying afk)

They were moving all game

I'm rank 2 and I have no idea how I got there. I am not very skilled and I just play for fun.
(I think the rank system... especially for survivor needs to be looked at).
I will admit... with shame in my heart... I tap gens from time to time.
I will de-pip to purple ranks now...

Not always, but against anti-heal stealth without distortion it's a bad thing for sure. xD
EDIT: And against legion of course.

If I see someone Gen-tapping I go to the Gen and start doing it with them. Its funny but after that Gen I stop doing it. Its not a big deal, things are going to get done soon enough. 🤷♀️
You can say that but I still have a hard time believing it.

Made it as high as rank 3 laat season even though im crap in a chase. I would say i belong in purple ranks so that's where i am and im happy.
Would like to get to rank 1 at some point, just to say i did

Ruin is never a problem with good survivors. How bad survivor's deal with Ruin is what makes it a powerful perk.
If everyone knew exactly how to deal with it, killers would never use it. (and I don't mean destroying the totem)

I do think in some matches it relies on luck heavily. An example, I spawn in to Coldwind right by a gen. I retreat behind the wall and wait a few moments. Sometimes another survivor will be downed and that lets me figure where the killer is. Approach the gen, start repairs, then suddenly my spinechill wobbles in and out and Wraith is right next me. I haven't missed any skill checks. I wasn't out in the open when the guy was whacked. (LOS), so I can only assume the killer got lucky by starting a patrol in the area I was in. He hears the sound of a gen being worked on, enters stealth and zap.

I gen tap when I get a gen to like 80% not risking it at all

I'm currently only rank 4 not because I'm a bad red rank survivor, but because I've only played survivor on one night since rank reset. Even that was for seven games.
Before the new rank reset it would only take me a few days to get back to rank 1 from rank 10, but I generally only play about 7 days of the season.

I hope you're not talking about gen tapping when there's ruin because that's an actual fair counter.

Bad players always adapt to metas like a year + after they change. Getting to red ranks doesn't require a player to actually be really good or knowledgeable about the game

People don't seem to notice that sometimes gen tapping if done right isn't that dumb of an idea in certain situations. The thing is you can hold on a generator for just under a second and not be hit with a skillcheck, and if you can get the delay between not working on the gen to working on it to sub 25ms, it saves more time than it wastes compared to missing even one ruin skillcheck. I've been able to get the delay to basically a single frame out of 144 (I run 144hz)
I'll say that most people probably don't know this and do it the dumb way, so bleh.

I saw something on reddit that is perfect for this thread

Sometimes people are too lazy to hit great skillchecks and don't want to bother with looking for totem. It takes like 20 more seconds anyway so no big deal.

Survivors should fight for generators (2 full gens done alone = pip, or 1 gen alone + no downs + escape = pip), but instead devs believe that suiciding in a fancy way is a norm, a skill. Here, you can have your low skill survivors at red ranks. Getting in a chase should downrank survivors or significantly decrease a chance to pip. Or swasting time and looking for the Ruin totem should put low skilled survivors at a disadvantage, but no. They can pip without doing generators.

Tbh if I really want a gen done, I do gen tap the last 10% and I consider myself decent.

The new reset is terrible
0 -
The worst is seeing some tapping AFTER ruin has been destroyed.
1 -
This isn't a product of the new rank reset. Rank has never meant much in this game, for both sides. Red ranks is ridiculously easy to achieve as either survivor or killer if you play enough hours.
This game has more of a matchmaking system than a ranking system, and that's ok. It's not a competitive game.

Honestly I don’t see the problem with gen tapping (I don’t personally gen tap, I hit great skillchecks on both pc and Xbox) if some people wanna help gen progress but can’t hit great skillchecks hey, they are doing their best :/

say sike right now

IIf they do it right, sometimes they do the literal Micro second taps
0 -
People with low hours at red ranks is more like it.

I wish I had people gen tapping, at least that's doing something.
The majority of my matches start out basically me being chased, only to find out everybody else is just running around looking for Ruin.
0 -
I wish. They were tapping before and must not have realized it was gone.
I couldnt believe it either.

IF I SEE SOMEONE GEN TAPPING I LEAVE THAT GEN

I didn’t think about that when making this topic, a couple of you have made me realize my error... watching 2 teammates urban evade around the map looking for ruin is UGH
0 -
Do you know that injured survivors scream kinda loud?
0 -
I don’t blame you, nothing worse than 90% and then hitting two normal skill checks and dropping back to like 80
