Is this game dying?
I only ask as I've been streaming this game for about a year and I've never seen this game go so long with broken matchmaking. rank 10 killer getting red ranks CONSISTENTLY. this isn't a "one is red rank, the others are green" no, these are solid red rank teams i'm going against. I normally see this kind of neglect with games where they don't care to monitor it anymore which is a sign that the game is out the window.

No, the game is not dying. That is the short answer.

Everything is dying if you think about it
On a serious note the devs are on holiday break, this will probably get fixed after they get back, the game won't die because there is 2 weeks of bad matchmaking, no matter how bad it is

Hard to say. The devs are tight lipped about important statistics (and they love to give out the meaningless stats). Almost like they want the community to be confused. Wonder why.
Red rank killers are likely leaving in droves due to the recent nurse and spirit nerfs.

I imagine most killers are tired of dealing with spaces and loops that are "safe" for survivors, I know I am. I barely ever play killer anymore, even though I'm better with killer than survivor. However, survivors are already overpowered, their behavior determines the outcome of a match. It probably helps a bit that I have so much experience as playing killer, but I was able to loop red rank killers within 3-4 weeks of "tome I" being released. The game is too easy as a survivor, and there's no penalty for taking the ewasy way out. So people play survivor, dropping killer populations. Why stress out over killer for the same BP survivors can earn for cleansing a totem and repairing a generator?

Blame the new match making. Every potato and their grandmother is climbing red ranks and will be consistently be there as long as they play the game, Soon there would no survivors lower than that. Playing killer is the easiest experience I have with the game, Only thing to complain about SWF otherwise its win win win win.

Good, it should die. Maybe one day they'll stop nerfing their best killers.

Wow. you’re petty.

It's the new emblem system/rank reset working together to make too many survivors red ranks.

Not sure how you figure that. The game has had more players in the last four months, on average, than it's ever had before. The average number of players over the last month (22.89k) was only 0.91% lower than that of the previous month (which is the smallest month-to-month drop in player numbers that the game has ever had since release, by the way). And the number of concurrent players has never dropped below 16k in the last week, and has reached almost 35k at its peak.
All of this is according to the Steam charts you referenced. https://steamcharts.com/app/381210#7d
