What If Demogorgon's Portals Could Not Be Broken?
I feel like the most annoying thing anyone could ever do to a Demogorgon is to seal a portal. Sure, there's some danger in sealing portals, but not much. Plus, sealing portals is so easy.
So, what if we got rid of that?
Well, that's what I'm here to ask you:
What if:
Demogorgon's portals could not be sealed?
I feel like Demogorgon would be a lot more fun that way because you don't have to worry about keeping your portals secure. Guarding generators is difficult enough as is. This change won't come without a few small consequences though, both good and bad:
- Once Demogorgon places down a portal, it is permanent. This means that those six portals you start with are very valuable and you must use them wisely. Placing them near generators is a viable option, but once that generator is completed, that portal might just go unused for the rest of the match.
- Portals are visible to all players as soon as they are placed. This isn't that detrimental to the power, but it gives Survivors additional awareness when they come into contact with them. Survivors will still be afflicted with Oblivious when standing on a portal.
- Survivors near portals won't be revealed by Killer Instinct. That means portals are solely used for travel. In my experience, I've rarely located Survivors by Channeling Abyss. Most of the time they sealed the portal before I could even get there, which shows me their location anyway, so this ability didn't seem that useful to begin with. Maybe with the use of add-ons, this ability could return.
- Interdimensional Travel has no cooldown. Hillbilly's Chainsaw has no cooldown, and it shouldn't. It offers insane mobility plus an insta-down. There's no reason why the portals should have a cooldown, especially since they can no longer be destroyed nor act as locator beacons.
- Shred stays. Period. It's a wonderful ability to have on the go. Though, I do feel that it should break pallets a bit faster.
And that's about all I've got to say. This is a discussion, so feel free to add on and point out any flaws if you find any. I'm also not trying to say that Demogorgon is a bad Killer. I really like'em actually, though I would like it even more if the devs considered these QoL changes.

He'd be kinda awful tbh since you wouldn't really know where survivors are across the map and not to mention like current demo if survivors don't get rid of it it just ends up being in a useless dead zone never to be used

I hate how people say major buffs are QoL changes. The cleanse mechanic and cooldown make him unique. I'd be fine if they just fixed his add ons, framerate, and slightly increased time taken to cleanse his portals by yourself.

I definitely think Demogorgon in general just lacks an identity. He's not really good in a chase due to how extremely linear shred is, and his portals get closed wayyyyyyyy too quickly. He's just kind of...there. I don't know that I'd make the portals permanent, but there should be a real downside to closing them, like Oblivious for 40 seconds, or something.

Btw, you sound like you're new to playing demogorgon. Survivors can't cleanse portals they can't see.

Agreed. I love Demogorgon but as a killer in general he's just lacking. I can get kills, but the survivors always zone in on portals so fast you barely get a chance to realise they're closing it until it's way too late. The oblivious effect should be a thing to give them more use than a quick A to B before a survivor closes it

He should be able to remove his portals by himself and the camera should not be locked in place after missing the shred. That's all he really needs.

Tracking is your own job using your senses and perks such as Discordance, BBQ, etc.
Also, I don’t get what you’re saying for the last part. You worded it strangely. This post is about what it would be like if the portals couldn’t be closed. Survivors can’t close them, so you don’t have to worry about them.

I like the idea but as a Demo main, being able of just going through portals forever in front of the two exit gates feel very bad.
Same with removing the ability of tracking, it's actually a very powerful way to use the portals, like using the portals during the chase (it's like teleporting during chases with Freddy, it's confusing, but it works !)
So I'm against it, it would make Demogorgon uncounterable in endgame, and really bad during the match.

No you think of a possitive as a negative.
Cleancing portals means no gens being done means you win some time.
Cleancing portals means you know where some survivors are.
Cleancing portals allows you to put new portals down, its actually a survivor strat to leave now useless portals (because everything of interest in that area is done) laying there as it limits what the killer can do.
And for survivors, its just about the only reason why Demo is still fun to play against unlike...Freddy.

Portals are sealed way too fast in my opinion. It only takes about ten seconds for one person to seal it, and even less with up to FOUR people being able to seal it at once. If we’re talking current Demogorgon, that’s one of the issues I have. The related add-ons don’t help much either.

Well yeah, you gotta be quick if you want to teleport through, but again, even if they seal it quick, Especially when its 4 people, you now have a good idea of where they are so you can go there and get them.

You want survivors to do portals as it means they aren't on gens.
It would be a nerf as the interaction is gone and not to mention the portals being perma with a max of six means as other have said dead zones will appear after a while so they are useless portals. Not seeing survivors also means its luck where you go unless you are notified someone if there by doing a gen but even then they could be gone before you get there
Then he has no cooldown so players could just make it an easy 3 gen scenario just prolonging the game. They could place a portal around 3 gens close to each other and just keep patrolling those areas and also place them around the doors just in case.

Probably. It's not anything drastic, it's just you can't get away with turning around the corner to dodge him.
