Gozen Mito

Born as a second daughter and child of esteemed feudal lord’s Gozen family, one trait captivated everyone present at her birth: beautiful silver eyes, a colour resembling a sheen of swords made by first class smiths from top quality tamagahane. Thus the girl was given a name of Mito (美刀), written with combination of characters for beauty and sword.

 

As Gozen Mito grew up, it became evident to her family that the name represented not only her beauty; Gozen Mito herself was enamored of warrior’s culture and had a dream of becoming onna-bugeisha, a female warrior that would fight alongside samurai. Her mother had other plans for her future however, intending to raise her as a proper lady that wouldn’t bring shame to Gozen family and to have her married to a son of some lord of neighbouring lands. As a matter of fact, Gozen Mito’s older sister was already engaged to the eldest son of a feudal lord whose lands were bordering Gozen family’s territories.

 

However, Gozen Mito wasn’t satisfied with such life. Disobeying her mother’s orders, she would often sneak out of their family’s mansion and observe warriors serving her father during their training. It was during one of these moments that she caught the eye of a visiting warrior hired by feudal lord to help train the younger pupils. The old warrior was the current head of famous Yamaoka family and upon noticing Mito’s presence and gazing into her eyes, he understood the huge potential she held within her. He requested an audience with the feudal lord and asked to be Gozen Mito’s instructor and teach her all the skills he possessed. Mito’s mother was firmly against this, however as she was currently pregnant at the time, Mito’s father, the feudal lord, made this proposal: if the newborn child turned out to be male, he would allow Mito to undergo warrior training; if not, she would give up on her dream and obey her mother’s instructions henceforth. Yamaoka and Mito agreed to these conditions.

 

Next summer, a healthy boy was born and Gozen family gained its long awaited successor. Feudal lord ordered to hold celebrations for the whole following week, and so whole land was filled with joy and laughter. Many guests came to congratulate the Gozen feudal lord, one of whom was the Yamaoka warrior. As his trained eyes swept over the crowd, he noticed one pair of eyes that expressed more joy and excitement that anyone else.  Gazing into these eyes again, Yamaoka couldn’t suppress a big smile himself. It was going to get really busy from now on.

 

As years went by, Gozen Mito became an adult. Under the tutelage of Yamaoka, she has mastered the use of naginata and bow and surpassed all the warriors serving her father. Her fame attracted many warriors from other lands to come and challenge her to duels; despite fighting in many of them she never suffered a defeat, instilling feelings of admiration in her opponents. Admiration for her strength was just half of it though; Mito was also gifted with exceptional beauty as she grew up, often making less experienced warriors just stop their movements during the duel to look at her. Needless to say they would be laughed at for this by their peers after the duel was finished. These were cheerful laughs of course, and a bit absentminded as they were too busy trying to catch a glimpse of Mito themselves.

 

One day troubling rumors reached Gozen family’s lands, speaking of a fearful warrior responsible for many cruel killings across the country. Rampaging like a demon, he slaughtered many skilled warriors that tried to stop him. Fearing that he may one day come to his lands, feudal lord asked Yamaoka to help him defend his territories. Yamaoka seemed to be troubled by the news and declined. Next day he suddenly disappeared without telling anyone.

 

As days filled with fear went by, finally the demonic warrior reached the feudal lord’s town. All warriors under lord’s command went to fight the demon, amongst them was Mito disguised as a man. Her father forbid her to fight and ordered her to hide with the rest of family, however Mito was very confident and proud of her skills. What’s more, her warrior upbringing would not allow her to flee from the enemy. Her opponent was a demon however, not someone a human can beat. Mito stood terrified as the demon was downing one warriors after another with just one swing of his Kanabo and soon she was the only one standing. As the menacing giant raised his Kanabo above his head for a finishing blow, Mito was suddenly filled with regret. All the years of training, all the praise she received from everyone she encountered, and here she was unable to make even a single step. Filled with desperation, she got into a defensive stance taught to her by her teacher, intending to at least trade her life for a single blow against the monster that appeared before her. Demon’s strike hit Mito’s hands and chest and blew her several metres away. Mito didn’t die though. For a brief moment before losing consciousness, Mito gazed into demon’s eyes. She could see traces of sadness and regret in them, but monster couldn’t have such human feelings so she must have imagined it due to her near-death state.

 

As a result of demon’s attack, feudal lord was killed and Mito’s younger brother was appointed new lord, with their eldest sister supporting him until he reaches adulthood. As for Mito, both her hands were crushed in the fight. They recovered enough so that they wouldn’t inconvenience her in everyday life, but she would never be able to wield weapon again. This and the trauma she suffered from encountering the demon lead Mito to withdraw from all social life and lock herself in her room. She would just stare at the sky all day without any emotion. Even when news of her teacher’s death reached her, she didn’t react at all and just kept staring at nothing. One day when servants brought her meal, Mito was nowhere to be found and only strange black fog was left behind.

Focused Breathing

Your training allows You to erase Your presence and elude the opponent.

By crouching still for 1 second, create fake Scratch Marks in the direction You’re facing reaching maximum distance of 10/15/20 metres. Fake Scratch Marks do not fade over time and disappear in 1 second after You move. If killer walks over the fake Scratch Marks You get an auditory warning; this effect can only be triggered once every 30/25/20 seconds.

Broken Blade

Your desperate attacks confuse the killer and allow You to survive a little bit longer.

After stunning Killer using a Pallet or a Locker, all Killer perks are disabled for 3/4/5 seconds. Broken Blade has a cool-down 30/25/20 seconds each time it activates.

 

Combat Roll

Risk is inseparable part of combat.

While in Healthy State, press the Active Ability button while running to transition into crawling. Pressing the Active Ability button while crawling will make You stand up. While crawling, Killer’s attacks will instantly put You in Dying State with 60/75/90% recovery progress.
