My experince - Trying to get better as a killer.
I don't have that much time during uni year to play.
When I first picked up DbD, I started playing killer and I almost never played survivor. Of course it seemed easy at first - everyone was at rank 20 and if you're new survivor, you'll usually end up sacrificed more often than not. I was having a lot of fun. Then I ranked up a bit and started getting my butt kicked, so I thought I would give survivor a chance.
Since then, I was playing 95% survivor and 5% killer. I'm a purple - red rank survivor.
With the archives arrival, I started playing killer again, which was sitting at rank 17. I started having fun again as the killer much to my surprise, but as I ranked up again - rank 12, I finally see all the problems that others have been pointing out:
Gens speed IS a problem - Even when I put on pressure and hook survivors quite fast, drop chases at strong loops, with some killers, it's really, really hard to prevent all the gens from popping - Playing with fun perks instead of slow down perks is not even fun anymore.
Autoaim screws you up more often than not. I was aiming at the survivor, not the tree that's right next to me, game, thank you.
It's a circle - Red rank games look almost the same perk/characters wise, because there is nothing better to run and play as.
Matchmaking, which is the reason I'll probably take a break from this game - I'm glad they made it so SWF killer rank is determined from the highest rank in the group, but otherwise, matchmaking is absolutely horrible for both sides. How come, I, as a rank 13 killer, get matched with rank 2,2,1,3? Of course I got my butt destroyed so hard, moreover, I got tbagged and flashlight clicked to oblivion by one of them (who I tried to ignore), which made up for a nice experience ( I didn't DC, because there is really no point, I just waited till they left, but I wanted to delete the game so hard). It wasn't just one match, it's almost every single match, the ranks make no sense and yes, there are lot of posts like this, because it's a serious problem happening often. It's no fun to go against a low rank killer either as a higher rank survivor.
To conclude my "post"
- Popular opinion (or is it?) - If you main one side, try putting some time into the other one as well to see the problems from different perspective.
- Both sides are toxic and face annoying perks/strategies/playstyles.
- Winning doesn't mean you have to shove it in the losing one's face, says a lot about you.
- Matchmaking is neither survivor's or killer's fault, but it certanily makes for a horrible experience.
- Stop attacking people who point out REASONABLE imperfections ( not NOED x Adrenaline battle etc.)
- Everyone should be allowed to play whatever and however they want, I'm by no means forcing anyone to drop their favorite build or whatever.
I just want to get better as a diversive player, but these things have been seriously discouraging - How do you cope with anger and the feeling of helplessness?
