Long term plan...maybe? Hopefully?
The ruin change came out of the blue and took us by surprise (at least a little). I understand the reasoning behind it, even though I think the implementation should have been different. I am, however, hoping that this is part of a bigger plan where gen speed/second objectives can be properly evaluated. This would be very hard to do with ruin being the meta it is. Now they can properly assess the game flow (as well as disparity between solo/swf)....I hope. What do you think is the long term plan?

Long term plan is to make as much money as they can off cosmetics before killing the game with changes so that their next release will pick up all the players who jump ship from dbd

IF Ruin was so important to the game balance, then they shouldn't be doing the nerf now, and wait until all balance changes involved with Ruin are ready.

If the devs lose players by killing their own game then those players will definitely not play any new games from BHVR because they would be wary of what happened in the past.
I understand having criticisms of the new changes but don't make up stupid conspiracies.

And this is exactly how it looks without the devs giving us anything to show otherwise.

You give BHVR far too much credit. Credit they aren't even in the realm of deserving.

Anyways I think the Ruin change will be better in the long run as the devs will hopefully see if killers have any problems will kill rate and don't have to worry about Ruin affecting the stats. You have to wonder how much of those stats that the devs released that showed kill rate were influenced by Ruin, all killers were above 60% in the red ranks.
Although I have to say I'm tired of nerfs, whether justified or not. Next patch should focus on buffing weak perks or items.

Problem is, the killer roster varies so much that many of them do need some kind of slow-down early game. A medium/low mobility killer can do little to stop a team that is focusing on gens. Survivors can easily complete 2 generators (40% of their collective objective) before the first hook (8% of the killer's objective) has been executed. PGTW and CI doesn't help killers like Hag and Trapper with their respective set-up time.

I think you framed this nicely -> I'm also very tired of the nerfs. Looking forward to some fun new builds when the buff-gun has been used.

Don't expect killer buffs/changes to the survivors' objective speed. If there were any, they would have been introduced together with the Ruin change.
This change is just an attempt to gain + keep survivor players - the playercount hasn't been growing for 1,5 years. An attempt that is going to backfire.

I don't think they're going to get a chance to implement any long term plan. The outrage is everywhere. Here, reddit, steam, youtube. It's all the same, 90% of the killers hate it. Most of them are saying they're quitting, the others are saying to camp/tunnel/slug/mori. You nerf individual killers, and you piss off those who main them, but the other killers don't mind. You nerf ruin and you piss off the vast majority of killers. This one change is going to change the landscape of the entire game, and not for the better.

Ruin made balancing the game really difficult. I think they do have a long term plan. The devs nerfed Balanced Landing so that they could create new maps without worry that BL would break them. I think it is the same here. Now everything they do will be balanced against not having Ruin.
Even if they do not have an actual plan, survivors are going to get easier games and killers are going to get harder games. Most survivors will easily get to red rank and most killers will struggle to get out of green. The devs will then be forced to fix the balance or lose money. I just hope they fix the core and don't do it with another mandatory perk that sucks the fun out of playing survivor.

I'm thinking long term plan is get the kill rate to about 25 percent. Having killers spend the game hooking and chasing survivors from gennys until the inevitable door opening and all leave.
They will rework killer emblems so we still rank up this way and not so kill reliant. It's what they have been trying to do for some time now.

So, make the killer basically a baby sitter to three obnoxious children?
Cause that sounds both stupid as hell and boring af.
#########, I was under the impression I was playing as a powerful beast made by an unknowable entity to slaughter and drain the hope from people.
NAh, just a glorified babysitter.

I hear you. It's just one man's opinion. But that is what I think their end goal will be.
It started when they changed emblems and emphasized hook actions but killed us with that gatekeeper emblem. Now they going change gatekeeper so we can still pip.
If they do this why not make it basekit for all killers. If you're not working on gennys than they are regressing. At least so we can still use pop and such to go with it.

Can't use pop or any other perks that rely on you kicking the gen.
Because if they aern't on the gen it's regressing which means by default PGTW is just better.

You put way too much faith in the devs

Yeah it would be nice if we could combine them. At least you would have more control over gen regressing. I guess we will have to see how fast they actually regress.
You think this will increase tunneling. At least to get that first guy out of the game?

I have enough Moris already plus I’ll stock up so I n can use them over and over and over

I can see that happening now. Rush to get a guy out asap to give you a shot at keeping survivors off gennys.
