Working Around the Ruin Nerf
Most complaints that I have seen with the new Ruin is that it makes "the game go too fast" or "makes survivors impossible to find before a generator or two is done".
With Ruin being gone, you'll have to manually patrol gens more often. If you have difficulty with patrolling generators, I recommend:
- Thrilling Tremors
- Discordance
- Pop Goes The Weasel
- Overcharge
- Huntress' Lullaby
I think people relied on Ruin way to much. After kicking a gen, Whispers could help you find survivors in the area. If you really can't find anyone, a lot of people walk around the border of the map in low ranks.
Blood Warden and NOED are excellent for cleaning up endgame, if you really need that.
I realize these suggestions seem obvious, but people seem to forget perks other than Ruin exist. Please feel free to reply with more helpful stuff if you can.

The core ploblem is there are maps that even if you run them correctly it still takes too long to get a down. Why play anyone but one-shot characters at red ranks. Otherwise Your chasing one and bam you hook em then Ding DING DING. 3 gen's gone for one hook. Completely balanced. Oh but I have to pressure more. I have to have map pressure get real man.

I heard a lot of people talk about how they should slow gen speed, which I think could help with that. Normal gen speed doesn't really bother me but I do agree that it can be overwhelming when there are multiple people on one gen, hence why I recommended Discordance. But I'm not trying to argue about the nerf itself, moreso just trying to give tips to newer killers who seem to rely on it.

I've always used Dying Light as a Ruin alternative since it was changed.
It's going to become meta since Gatekeeper won't punish the late game strategy like it used to.

One concern I've thought about is if the gens automatically regress, as if you kicked them, I'd hope it doesn't make kicking perks like pop or overcharge (or even something like brutal strength for that matter) useless. If they regress and can't be kicked, those other two perks aren't going to be useful with ruin. The perks would still work without ruin, but I just bring that up because I'm aware that some people try to use gen slow/regression as a build, and I've seen several builds that would combine both ruin and another slowing perk like pop or even dying light.

Pop and even Surge won't work with Ruin active, so the Gen regression build is useless which makes Ruin even worse.

Ohh that's a really good point! At least BHVR will see how things turn out in the PTB and hopefully are able to see what works and what doesn't.

We don't know that yet. Let's wait to test it on the PTB before we draw conclusions like that.

One of the devs on the board said pop would not work with ruin active on a regressing gen. So yes, the gen regression build is useless until ruin is gone, not like it last for 2 minutes anyway.

Thinking back on it, it wouldn't be completely useless (as ruin is still a hex and can be destroyed, so it would function as a backup slowdown) but it still wouldn't work in tandem.
