New Ruin Isn't Even Live Yet...
A lot of people are complaining about new Ruin, and honestly it's annoying.
Yes, the perk got nerfed.
Yes, it was needed.
Yes, you guys are mad, but suck it up. that's what happens in an online multiplayer game.
This might not how Ruin will be released, it's a test for a reason!
The new Ruin isn't even live yet but you guys are already crying. You haven't even tested it out. Just read the description.
In the meantime, stay quiet and wait for the PTB to come out.

why should that stop killers from complaining?

The perk is going to be #########.
You don't need to try it out to come to that conclusion.
6 -
yeah no thanks. we saw what happened with nurse and legion. devs dont care.
11 -
So... your fine with us complaining after the PTB is released?
1 -
please explain why it was needed .
3 -
Allow me to enlighten you, friend.
The main problem with this is how BEhavior put their update notes out. How everything had to be with the survivor's experience. How "frustrating" certain things were. Killers, including myself, saw this and immediately became enraged. This is no different than when a DS change was inbound, or balanced landing got changed. There was outrage, there was screaming, spamming, threats of leaving, blah blah blah. So yes, now it is our turn to vent our frustration. We paid the money, are paying customers, and are within our full rights to say what we please.
We have had bugged sounds for probably two months now, we've struggled with keeping up on gens and dealing with giant maps on killers that have ZERO ability to maneuver quickly. Spirit was "unfun" to play against, nurse was "frustrating", and... the doctor? THE DOCTOR. One of the WORST killers the game currently has, gets a nerf. Because it was "frustrating for survivors." Most survivors laugh hilariously when a doctor appears, as the loops are real with this one.
Sometimes, enough is enough.

Does it need to be? Anyone that's spent more than 100 hours in this game knows how this is going to play out. And anyone that's ever been involved in one of this game "PTBs" knows that no amount of negative feedback will have an impact. Why would anyone wait to complain when we already know whats going to happen is set in stone?
2 -
absolutely. Because the data and information would prove wether or not it needs further changes.
2 -
Newer players. A lot of newer players don't know how to hit great skill checks, much less good ones.
Heck, even some red ranks can't do it, but it's not about Rank 1s. It's about the newer players.
New players may not know about all totem spans either, making the entire match unfair and downright impossible for the poor new survivor players.

This is exactly the time to voice our opinions. They might make minor changes between now and when it goes live, but there is no way they will change their mind about it altogether without massive outrage. I'm not going to say that the sky is falling and the game is dead if they make this change.
But I honestly believe that it will be a very poor change in general. They never changed WHY killers use the perk so frequently. There is a fundamental flaw to this game. The early game matters way to much. For both sides really. Without ruin it is entirely too easy to lose multiple generators just getting the first survivor hooked.

so catering to them and making it easier is the solution?
it's called learning and improving. a lot of us have done it , they can too.
also catering to new players is how games die, look at call of duty and battlefield for example.

So what about new killers? They happen to pick ruin as a perk... they should be punished for their choice of a perk? Why aren't their hands getting held?
1 -
I've seen the "we payed" argument a lot and allow me to enlighten you.
Just because you paid for it, doesn't mean you can tell what the devs to add, do, so, etc.. it's not your game, it's theirs.
1 -
They need to balance this game around rank. Let these changes for yellow ranks and then progressively put ruin at its current state.

I don't need to taste a turd sandwich to know it tastes like #########.
1 -
What data are you looking for? "Yes the data does indeed show this is a nerf, mhmm exquisite."

Allow me to re-enlighten you, pal.
You're absolutely right. We can't tell them what to do, it is their game. However, paying customers can take their business elsewhere. Nerfing killers into the floor will eventually cause more issues than it will fix. Survivor lobbies will become even longer, and then they start complaining. Things start to crumble, and suddenly the dollars go away.
Am I saying that this exact issue will cause the doom of the world? No. I have been saying that this is a symptom of a far larger issue that people want to overlook.

The PTB is useless and bhvr never listens

My question to the Devs is:
If Ruin was so widely used, why not solve the underlying issue rather than nerfing Ruin?
1 -
You don't need to test it to realize that it's bad. Great idea, but horrible time to implement it.

Having balance and perk uses change over ranks is a bad idea. It's really confusing to new players who thought ruin did one thing but now it suddenly does something else. Maybe it'll be better than having new ruin at high ranks or old ruin at low, but it's not healthy for the game and there are other, better ways of doing that.

Why is that?
0 -
Yeah tell us why the nerf was needed, because skillchecks are hard? That's the point, they won't even address why everyone was running it, because it was needed at red ranks. Almost every survivor runs dead hard should we nerf that too?
Here's why we're making it known that nobody but incompetent people want this, because it's never getting changed again (not in the near future anyways). Even if it's as awful as everyone is making it out to be they won't do a damn thing about it because rank 15 survivors can't hit skillchecks and proceeded to balance the whole game around that. Not one sentence in that patch notes said anything about using it or playing with it, just against and it shows.

I really question why people seriously reply to people like this lol. Like this person really doesn't think that ruin needed to be nerf. Theyre a toxic survivor main rubbing it in your face that it was nerfed.
This post is meant as a "######### you" for a reaction nothing else, so I dont think anyone is getting "Enlightened" here 😂

Map design is currently horrid. Many chases require 0 skill, and it's just chain loop after chain loop on certain maps. Others are gigantic, and 65% of your match will be spent walking from point a to point b. Some killers absolutely need Ruin to have a good chance to win on certain maps. What is Clown going to do on Red Forest, what about Huntress?
If the maps were not garbage, this change would be entirely fine.
0 -
no, no. You're absolutely right. Map design, imo, is so and only because it is RNG. The amount of times I have gotten strong map tiles lined in a row is insane.
Not sure how Clown will suffer, since he's pretty fast. But other killers like Huntress, Trapper, Hag, etc are pretty screwed. But there are other perks killers can use. Pop, Corrupt, et... (don't know much good killer generator slow down perks)
0 -
Clown will suffer because he has no map pressure tools. On large maps he's extremely subpar. This change needed to happen, but they chose the worst time to implement it; when the actual problem of map design hasn't been addressed.

It's not crying it's the devs way assessing the rotting wound of this game with a little bandaid instead of reworking the way generator are done to make them a more interesting fun objective to do and make it easier for the killer so they actually have more than a 3 minute game the best the most used perk. Only a degenerate could justify these changes for real.
