The ineffective report / ban system makes me think it's a very low priority concern.

The toxicity is one of the pillar of that game.
Either embrace it, endure it, or find your way on Civilization that is undoubtedly a better game (especially on the toxic part)4 -

He also showcased multiple exploits on his stream. Some of them were accidental, some of them on purpose.

Good question.
I was just told by a survivor to slit my wrists. Something tells me by his attitude that wasn't his first offense either.

They can however ban people. I love what Ubisoft did with Rainbow 6, ban people that used incredibly insensitive words in chat2 -
I mean overwatch has finally done something about their toxicity (thank god) and it’s been around for about the same amount of time. So if their reporting system doesn’t step up by the end of this year then I’m going to say no! And I know some people will say oh but blizzard is a huge company! Which is true but it’s like money or a well based community? I think we know what most companies choose *cough* EA *cough* Activision
But I mean he who I will not mention has been perma banned. So it should say something but on the other hand I still see people wall and speed hack (on pc) and lag switching is still a thing. Not to mention the constant DCs.
Don't even get me started with console! Although I do feel bad for Xbox one players1 -

One of the ban guys here, been at it since ~January 2017. Yes, we do care. I've issued loads of bans to toxic people, exploiters, cheaters, and the like. There were some hiccups with the report form and it had to be closed. Thankfully the in game report system is in the midst of getting some love that'll make it even easier to report toxic people, so if you see them, be sure to report them. I know the in game report system hasn't done much in the past, but it's actively being worked on.
There's always going to be toxic people, we can't snap our fingers and make everyone good sports. But we do get rid of the ones we see, and reporting them will help us find them.

Question: if I call someone an ######### (and for the record they deserved) does that warrant a ban?
Good question. What is and is not allowed?
Can I be an adult and say "fvck you buddy" without fear of a snowflake on a murder game being offended and reporting me for threatening his family and hurting his feelings?

Not_Queen gets streamed sniped by a known hack and she says they know who it is. But the guy is still not banned. I don't know why people think she does a good job. She is terrible community manager, only answers threads where there is positive news, when it's time to give updates on issues or deliver bad news she goes MIA.

The guy has most likely been banned multiple times - but it's so easy to avoid a ban and say he hasn't been banned to push his narrative the devs don't care so he continues - and it works because everyones getting pissy and his plan is working,2 -

It's very easy to circumvent bans, you can make new accounts and buy the game again, you can vpn to hide your ip. There's not really much anyone can do to stop someone that has a mission to get a community to hate the devs.

Someone getting mad in a video and insulting you should not make you feel bad. It should make you feel good. Mainly because someone is having a bad day and you made it worse for them. As humans, we see the delight in the misery of others. So why would you need to get offended by what some edgy self hater says on the internet? Damn, dad was right. The internet is filled with Bottom Feeders. smh0

Does BHVR even give a crap about a toxic community?
They are not giving me any reason to think they do, that is for sure. Unchecked rampant abuse to the point that nearly every killer has to turn chat off so they dont see or heear it in their heads while reading garbage.
My opinion is that they are with a playerbase as low as ours afraid to ban anybody in fear of missed sales. They pump out DLC after DLC and have known about the abuse since day one but what have they done? What have they done about it? Nothing!

There is a certain level of smacktalk that is anticipated, so we wouldn't ban for just that. But if you're just relentlessly going off on someone with stuff like that, then that's not okay. Insults, meh, excessive insults, not okay.

I doubt it. They're not the ones who actually face the toxicity themselves, they just watch from a distance and view the data. No point in getting your hands dirty.
Speaking of which, this is one of the main reason I want the devs to have a mandatory killer play session as part of their job, so they can experience the game themselves rather than sit and watch.
Made a thread about it: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/11734/lets-play-killer-day-for-the-developers0 -

Made a thread about it: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/11734/lets-play-killer-day-for-the-developersNope, this just plain isn't true. I'm definitely not sitting here looking at data, feeling completely disconnected and not understanding what it's like. I still find a lot of the stuff people say over a video game ridiculous and disgusting. As for playing killer, I probably put a good 6-8 hours in as killer this past weekend alone (hoping to get some more in today, long weekend). Though if you think that's a killer exclusive issue, I would suggest that you instead try playing some high rank survivor. The toxicity goes both ways.

@Peanits Thanks for replying to this thread! You mentioned the in-game reporting is broken, and I think we all know the issues there, but the question is this: What is the most effective way to report someone?Right now, just use the in game one. It's logging information, it'll all start to be used soon.

@Peanits said:
The toxicity goes both ways.Definitely does. There's some differences though.
Any killer will always face four survivors (in perfect circumstances) and therefore the chances for running into a toxic player is four times higher when playing killer. And in the modern Dead by Daylight, most popular survivor players on youtube and twitch are EXTREMELY toxic and only seek to do a single thing, making life as miserable for the killer as they possibly can.
And that's not to mention the natural toxicity that's created when friends see friends suffer in SWFs.
There's also a pretty big thing that sets the two sides apart. Survivors who get caught and angry commonly just disconnect and go unto the next game right away while the killer often suffer through the entirety of the game in order to not lose everything.

The toxicity goes both ways. Not if they're in SWF.The only reason the style of toxicity is different is because the different roles have different goals and methods of carrying it out.Survivor's best way to be toxic is to drag the game out. If a killer targets and "bullies" the exact same person match after match, by streamsnipe for example, that's called toxic then and is also considered as griefing.
