The Realization of Cross-Play: PC To Console.
So recently my son decided to download dbd to pc and has really enjoyed it a great deal more than console play. I am and will likely always play the game on my ps4.
In the past, I've vehemently been against cross-platforming pc to console, but lately I've reconsidered because my son and I would love to swf together.
I know that the devs have mentioned cross-play between pc and console to the extent of executing a survey that collected information from players about their opinions on cp.
I haven't heard a deal more on this idea recently, and I was just wondering how likely this may happen and if there is actually a timeframe on implementing this into the game.

It's quite likely, as it would solve a very important issue, matchmaking. Also dedicated servers are being implemented which are the framework for cross-platform.

I really hope it is implemented soon, because it would be a ton of fun to play with my son in matches.

So you mean like what call of duty and rocket league did with being able to add pc players as friends vice versa?

I agree but to be honest if BHVR did give the option to enable cross-play it wouldn't be too much of a big issue. Sometimes I just want to play a couple of games before work but due to queue times I find it difficult to play more than 1 without risking running late for work.
If people just want to have quick matches and they have the option to play against PC players then it would be cool if they had it. For the people who don't want it enabled due to the disadvantages, which there are 100%, then they can simply disable cross-play.
I know Call of Duty MW has the option for you to choose if you want to play against platform only people or against every other platform

I never considered the framerate angle. Thanks for the info.

It is not just framerate. Console has a sensitivity cap and it is immensely lower than pc. A pc survivor could 360 faster than any console killer can react too. That is also why 360s are easier to pull off on console.
Sadly that is not the only problem either. Pc players have sooooooo much more range with what they can customize, an example is widening up the view and changing brightness via game files and such. That alone gives pc an advantage over console.
If dbd ever does cross play it may only be done with ps4, xbox and switch. Unless dbd offers more settings and fixes the mentioned problems, dbd will not be able to do pc and console crossplay

Would require PC, M$ and Sony consoles, and Switch to run the same version of the game. Any patch delay on either platform means delay on the others.
Join your son, join the PC master race.

Lol. Perhaps I should.

"I'm against this feature people have been wanting, until it is now relevant to me the same way it was to them".

The games always run the same version. (Besides the ptb of course)

Thats one of the larger issues with the game. Steam doesn't care when you update the game or even if it works. Consoles do. It would be better after major updates to make several hotfixes for PC, test them out, then package what works for console review. But because BHVR wants cross-platform play this model can never be used. We are stuck with bug fixes every chapter and mid-chapter patches.

Survivors are not at a disadvantage. Using a controller is no different than mouse/keyboard as you said, but console killers would be affected.
It’s already not as easy on console killers because you can’t do everything as well on controller as you can on mouse/keyboard.
Framedrops as you said are also an issue. I’d love for crossplay to come to DBD but I don’t know if it is possible.

Until my son started playing dbd on pc, I was heavily against it because I know the type of killers on PC I would likely be facing. Now, knowing that through being able to play this with my son, our bond would grow as father and son through a game we love. Of course I'm going to be in favor of Cross-Play. That you can't see this makes me awfully sad.
