Increase shards you earn or maybe a extra way to earn them and here is why
When the store was intruduced to dbd with the clown chapter the amount of shards you were earning was fine because there wasnt much skins there to buy. But now we have for almost every character 2 skins that are purple for shards (21k) you kinda need 1 month to earn that many shards. And I play every day a few hours so you can kinda consider me as a sweaty nerd with no life. And I dont want to imagine how long casual players need to get that much shards...
So with these times where you can buy over 60 skins to for shards and every few weeks new upcoming skins. The amount of shards has to be increased or a new system to earn them would be really nice! My idea was to build a "scrapping" system from hearthstone into dbd. Where you can just destroy offerings or items/addons to make out of them shards.
Example:
Ultra rare=150 shards, Purple=100 shards, Green=75 shards. Brown= 50 shards
*Edit: To balance that out the original characters can cost more then 9k shards.
Opinion?

Although simple its uncommon to see such a positive reply around here

It did take a long ass time to get all the parts for my bloody valentine trapper. Which is the only skin I have besides rift stuff and susies sweater+mask

So you want to make it more grindy? As it is 9k is a pretty decent amount of game time

I just buy cosmetics with shards and get characters with real money..9k is pretty ridiculous

Here's a problem.
Due to Killer reworks, some Add-ons change rarities.
Nurse's Matchbook was Common and is now Ultra Rare.
Now imagine players who don't give a crap about that Ultra Rare.
They'll spam that scrap button.
And keep this in mind for Doctor rework and possible future Killer reworks.
In an extreme example, there was this dedicated Nurse player, who showed of they now own over 500 Matchbooks because it changed rarity.
That'd be 75k Iridescent Shards, or atleast 3 high-rarity outfits, just because their Add-on's rarity changed.
Don't get me wrong, I personally actually like the idea of being able to do something with the crap you collect.

Thank you ^^

9k Shards are easy to get and I assume the devs would not be happy to let ppl gain more shards to buy their DLCs with shards even faster. So we would be able to earn more shards, the DLCs should cost more aswell to balance it out, it is only about skins, the skins are to expensive.

I have a friend who has 300k shards, and umbra has 1k iridiscent head addons on her huntress. Also in hearthstone some big streamers have all golden cards and still remain with over thousands of dust without knowing what to do.
There are always some mad lads that go crazy with anything you cant prevent that or change that :D I mean on my second account I have 800 hours now and I just managed to buy 3 full outfits with shards. That is pretty dull honestly and annoying.
Edit: Also on my old accont my leatherface had 96 ebony moris just because of the old winter event.
Hope you understand what I mean

I would love to have more shards. Currently i have 400 in-game hours, but i still haven't unlocked all the killers, let alone survivors.
This "you either pay up or grind to hell" thing is not appealing to new players. That's one of the reason the playerbase is not growing
But i don't think it will happen. Because more shards = less people to pay their overpriced cosmetics = less income
Devs won't allow that

Yes, I know.
But every single one of those examples is earned.
If Hillbilly's Spark Plug were made Ultra Rare right now, I'd become able to buy at least 2 outfits, because I bought and never used a bunch of Common Add-ons.
The point of my comment was that people wouldn't have earned those Iridescent Shards.

Shards are a token gesture to entice people to go to the store, if / when they earn enough for a piece of cosmetic gear, in thew hope that they will get addicted and throw money at them.
They will NEVER increase it because they want you to cash out.

That's better. 👍

Sounds good, but the shards are already a free bonus. You don't really "earn" them, they are awarded for game time. You get them whether you play well or are afk the while time.
It would always be nice to get more, but you can't expect a company that is trying to make money to just keep giving away more free stuff.

You have a point, but it is not only just because of earning skins faster or free DLCs, I have 254 susie's mixtapes on my Legion and these addons are just a waste and really bad, I would like to "trade" them or scrap them somehow, they will stack up even more and more because I dont use these addons. I am sure that everyone has those specific addons that they NEVER use. And it is sad that those items will just "rot" in your loadout without any usage.

I hear you about the useless addons. Free shards for those would be awesome. I would even be happy with some bloodpoints.

Yep especially worse are those purple mist bottle offerings for killers... oof

I would love to get rid of every Haddonfield map offering that i have on my killers...
