Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Toolbox overhaul

So one of the biggest problems facing generators right now is toolboxes. They're big enemies in the game that shave off up too 50% (40 seconds) of time off one gen. So my idea is too completely overhaul them by tweaking numbers, tweaking certain effects, and changing some of the effects that add-ons provide. So here is my idea of how to overhaul toolboxes.

  1. Remove moderately, slightly etc etc. I dont understand why these where a thing in the first place can you please just tell the numbers? Plus removing them gives light to make it so you can switch up add-on numbers instead of keeping them consistent with toolbox values.
  2. Change all base toolboxes.

Worn Out Tools: A metal box containing out of condition tools that could break at any moment. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.

  • Increases the Generator Repair speed by 9% (Down from 15%)
  • Decreases the Skill Check success zones by 10% (Not Changed)
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action
  • 80 Charges

Toolbox: A metal box containing a set of basic tools. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.

  • Increases the Generator Repair speed by 12% (Down from 15%)
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
  • 100 Charges (Down from 130)

Mechanic's Toolbox: A metal box with specialized mechanics tools. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.

  • Increases the Generator Repair speed by 15% (Down from 20%)
  • (Removed Moderately reduces sabotage speed)
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
  • 130 Charges (Up from 80)
  • Increases chance to trigger a skill check by 3% (Added Effect)
  • Decreases skill check success zones by 10% (Added Effect)

Commodious Toolbox: A large metal box containing basic tool and extra mechanical parts. Even without training, can be used to repair or break various mechanical components.

  • Increases the Generator Repair speed by 10% (Down from 15%)
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action.
  • 180 Charges (Unchanged)
  • Failed Skill Checks regress generators an additional 3% when failed (Added effect)

Engineer's Toolbox: A metal box with highly specialised tools meant for engineering. Most of the tools can be used by neophytes to make quick repairs or break various mechanical components.

  • Increases the Generator Repair speed by 20% (Down from 25%)
  • Unlocks the Sabotage action
  • Great Skill Checks no longer appear (Added Effect)

Alex's Toolbox remains untouched

So these are the ideas for just the base toolbox changes. Now lets get onto add-on changes!

Spring Clamp: Useful tool to clamp hoses or hold wires in place and prevent damage or injury.

  • When hitting a Good Skill Check while using the toolbox, increases base repair speed by 0.5% (Added Effect)
  • Increases Skill Check Chances by 3% (Added effect)

Scraps remain unchanged

Clean Rag: A mundane rag. Suspiciously clean.

  • Increases Toolbox Repair speed by 7% (Down from 10%)

Wire Spool: A portable but heavy spool of copper wire.

  • Adds 25 Charges to the Toolbox. (Down from 30)
  • Adds 0.2% Additional repair speed for each consecutive second spent on a generator. Bonus resets when leaving the generator. (Added Effect)

Socket Swivels: Swivels provide bend and flexibility for bolts that are out of reach, deep within mechanical devices.

  • Increases the bonus earned by Great Skill Checks by 2%
  • Reduces repair skill check chances by 1%

Protective Gloves: Thick gloves, which reduce menial dexterity but protect hands from injury.

  • Increases Sabotage speed by 5%
  • Increases Sabotage Great Skill Check zone by 15%

Instructions remain unchanged

Grip Wrench: An adjustable wrench with a tough grip. Essential in any Toolbox.

  • When hitting a Good Skill Check while using the toolbox, increases base repair speed by 1% (Added Effect)
  • Increases Skill Check Chances by 4% (Added effect)

Cutting Wire: A rudimentary cutting tool made from a jagged metal wire and two wooden handles.

  • Increases Toolbox Sabotage speed by 17% (Up from 15%)

Hacksaw: A small hand saw mounted with a metal cutting blade.

  • Increases Toolbox Sabotage speed by 30% (Up from 20%

Brand New Part: This intricate mechanical part feels oddly out of place. It is clean and shiny as if straight out of the factory.

  • Toolbox Repair action is replaced with Install Brand New Part.
  • During the installation you will be faced with a Skill Check every 5 seconds.
  •  Each skill check you hit your Repair Speed will be increased by 5% up to a maximum of 40%
  • Leaving the generator will remove 10 Charges from the toolbox.

Soooo this is just my idea on how to fix the toolbox situation lemme know what yall think.

I personally think there should be more downsides to toolboxes. Something that should give you a risk or a downside where you should think about when to use a toolbox or not. It should not be a item that you bring and braindead hold even faster M1 than it is already without.

Why does medkits not need any downside? Because faster healing isn't that much of a problem.

I would prefer if toolboxes didn't affect the gen speed at all anymore

But made the great skillcheck zone bigger

They would still speed up gens but experienced players who can hit greats anyway won't gain that much of a benifit

It's a way to nerf them for the red ranks while not affecting lower ranks as much
