Just a thought
For the past year or two, Killers have said Ruin is a required Perk. So now we have a group of Killers who have run Ruin from Rank 20 up to Rank 1. This is part of the problem with the Perk. They never learned basic Killer mechanics that they should have and are being propped up by a single Perk. Why would you bother to learn to pressure gens early when you have Ruin to do that for you?
I saw more Ruin from Ranks 16-11 than I did from Ranks 10-4 while I was leveling new Survivors for teachables the past month or so. That is utterly ridiculous. If you need Ruin to "win" at that level, the game isn't the problem, it's your game play. Now you can obviously play with any Perk you have available, but using a Perk that so heavily influences the game at low Ranks means you aren't learning anything but "Ruin is required".
Look at BBQ. I love this Perk, don't use it personally, but I think it's in a perfect position right now. The BP gain + aura read for anti-camping is one of the best ideas the Developers came up with. Rewards instead of nerfs. How many Killers do not know how to patrol gens though because all they do is hook, look, and move? I've played against many Killers in the red Ranks that I legitimately thought were yellows/greens because of how horrible they were. Yet, BBQ is another of those Perks that is said to be required, so you end up playing against BBQ/Ruin users at low ranks.
Survivor side is even worse. The red ranks are littered with useless people who have no clue what they are doing because they've been carried from Rank 20 to Rank 1 by Perks like Adrenaline (breaks the exhaustion rules which were reworked to stop abuse), Decisive Strike (60 seconds of immunity), Dead Hard (just enough time to get to the next pallet/loop), and others. They've never learned how to hide from a Killer, they just mimic their idol (really badly) and then DC when they get downed, because that's a win for them (literally. How many BP/emblems does a Killer lose because of this?).
I potato a good bit, which is why I hang around the high purples and low reds. I'm not great in a chase, but I prefer to try and break LoS to hide rather than loop. I also don't use the meta for the most part because I don't want to get propped up by Perks that really need tweaked. I want to learn how to be a good Survivor rather than a crutched Survivor with lots of freebies.
Both sides of the playerbase have caused these problems for themselves. I have 0 sympathy for anyone who is so dependant on a specific Perk that they can't imagine trying to play without it. There are multiple other reasons why genspeed is so fast right now, but you need to police yourself before you complain about them and decide if you are legitimately that good or if you are just being propped up by Perks because you couldn't be bothered to learn facets of the game that are required to be a good Survivor/Killer.

I don't think it's fair to say "they never learned gen pressure" when with certain killers, it's impossible to apply adequate gen pressure on large maps, because a gen or two can be completed before you even get to the other side of the map to "pressure" it.

That's the individual killer's problem.

If by individual killer, you mean the actual killer character implemented in the game. It's not a player issue when someone like Zubat can choose Trapper, Myers or Huntress, and 2 gens are done before the killer can even go in a straight line across the map.

Yes the first one

Then yes, I agree. The issue is, killers that fall in that category are...well, most of the killers in the game. Which is a big problem. I don't want to have to use Billy, or Freddy, all the time.

At red Ranks, I 100% agree with that. Certain Killers have 0 map pressure or presence, and are extremely difficult to play without a helper. Low ranks though, where people are supposed to learn the game, is a different story. If you're getting carried by a Perk, on either side (I think Survivors get carried more personally), then you learn nothing. You become mediocre at best.

I agree with this.
I play Michael and I can’t teleport nor run with a chainsaw on my back, but I do feel that I compensate for it with the added speed when in T3 which is his main power.
Do I think that I can’t apply as much pressure because I can’t get to the other side? No. I apply pressure differently though, usually I will try to keep two people hooked at a time to force the others off the gens. This is why I’m personally ok with new Ruin. Obviously people play different and some other people are more comfortable ruin giving them that little bit of pressure they get out of it.
