I have actually requested this a few times myself and am glad to see the change. There was really nothing else it could be. While it is sad this change does not come with the crucial base game changes I also requested, getting this implemented asap is better than waiting. Maybe Ruin change is sign of future map changes. Seeing the devs fix a problem gives me hope for this game, how about you?

I think it’s a step in the right direction myself, I never really used ruin except on Hag. But I’m excited to see map changes moving forward.
