Anyone else like the new Ruin?

So I was one of the original doubters about the incoming nerf for Hex: Ruin. As I didn't think Ruin needed to be nerfed, as it wasn't even that strong against good survivors. I even made a post about Ruin not needing to be nerfed.

However, since I saw new ruin on the PTB I started to like it and started to plan how I could implement it into my current killer builds. This might be because ruin before the ruin nerf announcements I had already stopped using ruin in my killer builds. For me new Ruin fits my killer playstyle better then current ruin.

Another thing I like about new ruin is that whilst new Ruin is up, it acts as a time saver as you don't have to waste time kicking generators. Futhermore, when combined with Surveillance new Ruin can be used to track survivors.

I still don't think Ruin needed to be nerfed, but I like the changes.

-----

I am a Hillbilly main so maybe it's because you don't need current ruin with Hillbilly, but I play a lot of Leatherface and I don't use current Ruin on him either.

No. Looks like it will be better mid game and do very little early game. With Hex perks normally being destroyed within the first minute or two you generally want them to do something as soon as possible. I don’t use Huntress Lullaby for this same reason.

Devour is the only one worth the risk because of it’s incredibly high reward.

Yeah, Hillbilly, Freddy, and Nurse "like" it, but guess what? It doesn't regress THAT quickly, and going around applying pressure to gens is not being in a chase, so you're delaying doesn't really have a big impact. If anything it'll make survivors pound gens and forgo saving to do the gen they're on.Top all of this off that it is STILL a Hex and can still be destroyed. The maps are so massive that killers that do not have a power that lets them get around them fast enough won't have ANY impact or the ability to take advantage of it.

It also does not do what is needed and why Ruin was used, and that is to delay gens enough at the start for you to apply pressure and hopefully get a hook before Ruin was destroyed, the benefit of it lasting beyond that being a bonus.

So that is why everyone who ran Ruin will now run Corrupt, maybe Corrupt/Pop, all while the devs scratch their heads going "Weird. Why would 80% of killers go from running Ruin to running Corrupt/Pop, Ruin/Surv? Could...could the games core design be a problem? No... no"

Also, if you're a Billy main you should be aware that against good survivors or survivors who play safe, he turns into an M1 killer and he won't even be as good as you believe.

Before the rank reset I was a red rank killer (I deranked so I could learn to use Doctor and Spirit for the next rift) and I agree with you sometimes have you to use your M1 against good survivors. If I'm a decent map I don't have issues with chases as Hillbilly.

I have the mindset if I get destroyed by good survivors, then they deserved the escape and I'll move on to the next game.

EDIT: How often do you actually go against actual good red rank survivors?

This might just be for me, but it's rare for me to go against four good survivors.

I think it's great and the only thing it's missing is point compensation.

I think the new ruin is deffinitivly a more fun perk

It combo's interresting with certain perks and it feels like you're activly doing something

Where with old ruin you just slapped it on and prayed it lasted

It is without a doubt a lot weaker though. I will still play it cause i like to mix my perks up once and a while but i think people that want to go optimally will have to resort to currupt or pop now

I like the changes for Legion, i'm staying positive by looking at the Ruin changes as a Legion buff.

I definitely like the new Ruin. I just think it happened a bit too early. If more maps were reworked, I feel like many more people would be fine with this nerf.

The sooner they fix it the sooner they bring in new players.

  • Yeah, it’s about time we got a good end game perk to really slow gens down when they only need one more completed.
