Why did The Wraith continue?

I guess he snapped and went crazy. The old lore is pretty weak.

One of the developers said lore wise that if a killer has more torturous features, like the burns and scarring all over the Wraith, or the metal threaded in and out of the Trapper, then it’s more likely the entity did it to them to make them kill.
Whereas you have the Clown and the Huntress who enjoy the hunt or find it to be a normal process and don’t have those same tortured features.
