Is it possible to get banned for this? Devs Answer
so my dad recently got a new router and it makes my game laggier than it was before. This causes me to lag out so often and it says that I DC, making me lose 2 pips every time (obviously this is bound to happen). With the new DC penalty stuff happening I wanted to ask if I'll end up getting banned for me unpurposefully lagging out. I'm not exactly sure if the game can tell if I did it on purpose or not so I just need to know.

I think this applies to people leaving the match on purpose.
I personally think a join back feature would be worth looking into for the people that actually lag out

Think its time to maybe take over from dear old dad and set that router up properly.

I would definitely suggest fixing that router, because as far as I'm aware that will count towards your "DC count" and could get banned if it happens excessively, not only that but you are effectively spoiling other people's games as well.

This! Even if you couldn’t get banned, the fact that you’re ruining people’s games “every so often,” should be enough reason for you to want to get it fixed.
This isn’t a solo game.

Can you get permanently banned for DCing?

Temporary bans are on an escalating scale leading to a permanent ban yes.

My dad is the type that acts like a know it all and although I've mentioned this issue repeatedly he doesn't give a dang about it

I'm not trying to ruin anyone's game, nor do I want to and I try my best to make it fun for everyone whether I play killer or survivor. My dad will not fix the router and will not let me because he believes he knows it all, though I have mentioned this issue several times. He blames it on the PS4 itself although I know that's not the case. The DC penalty will probably screw me over and I would love the idea of a rejoin button or something but we know that will not be implemented for several reasons. 1. Unless they have a timer for it then people will just join back during endgame or those that can't get their internet back online before the timer is just out of luck and 2. The join back will probably break the game even more. I wish there was a way to be able to say what DCs are purposeful or not but this is life I guess until I can get my dad to actually listen to me. Although a dev hasn't answered this I am thankful for those of you who answered my question about this.

well, google the manual for the router online and see what you can find, maybe just opening some ports (port forwarding) could fix it

Not sure if mandytalk is a dev but she? Is definitely an official behavior employee and your question was answered

Typically BHVR employees use the logo so i didn't realize that a BHVR employee responded.

Its cool. Looking back my post sounded dickish. Wasnt trying to be that. Sorry if it was misconstrued.

The mods aren't BHVR employees, since they don't get paid, but they are affiliated with the company. They have direct lines of communication to the developers, and access to a degree of insider knowledge. So anything a mod tells you can generally be trusted as being official information.

The dc auto flags for dc. Period.
As I said when we spoke of dc punishment and people said "what if my net is bad?":
Dont play until it's fixed. Or you know exactly what you're risking.

I do YT and the one game I play 24/7 is DBD and I don't really have any other interesting games. I'd rather try and satisfy my small view count than continue my streak of not recording due to a bad net issue. If it gets really bad then I might stop but otherwise I'd rather not.

Makes sense, thank you for telling me this information! I don't usually use the forums so I am in the dark about certain things like the mods.

It's ok, emotion is hard to convey over the internet and I understand that you didn't mean it.
