Tips for Survivor Beginners

Hello! I decided to make a list of things that had helped me improve my gameplay when I was in lower ranks. I think this would be beneficial for those who are newer to the game or have difficulty grasping it. I'm not by any means the best survivor, I'm purple ranks and this is just stuff that I felt helped me improve quickly. For higher ranks, a lot of this stuff seems very obvious.

1.) Consider your play style when choosing your load out. Try basing it around how you play; whether it be getting gens done, saving others, running the killer, etc. Also consider areas you are weak in. I consider myself bad at dodging hits, so I run dead hard.

2.) Another thing about load out: I highly recommend spine chill. It's always good to know when the killer is heading your way. This is especially useful against killers like Michael and Ghostface, who gain power by looking at you.

3.) Try to ALWAYS be doing something. You don't need to be immersed and sticking to the edges of the map when the killer is nowhere near you. Run and go look for a gen.

4.) Lockers are situational. Personally, it is very obvious to me when someone is hiding in a locker. (Like if a gen has obviously been worked on and nobodys around) I notice newer players tend to use them a lot, especially when it's completely unnecessary or the killer is so close they can hear it. If you feel like you really need to use lockers often, run Head On for extra security.

5.) Try playing killer for a bit, even if it's in a custom game. Just so you can see how things are from the killer's perspective, and how obvious certain things are to the killers.

6.) This one is a big one. ALWAYS try running the killer in a certain area. (You will get more used to this as you learn the maps more) Don't just wing it and run wherever. Bring them to a palette you can run them around, or a wall or something. Even if you know you'll get caught, waste as much of the killer's time as possible so your team can get things done.

7.) Try to avoid using palettes immediately. If the killer respects palettes, you can try looping them around that area before throwing it down on their noggin.

8.) Keep your eye on the killer while being chased, but don't constantly keep your camera angled behind you. Peep at them as much as you can but if you're looking behind you the entire time, you'll get stuck on something or just have no idea where you're going.

9.) As you start improving, be as bold as possible, it is high risk but high reward, and if you get good at it the risk goes down.

10.) This goes for most video games, don't worry about getting to a high rank immediately. Grow at your own pace! It took me a really long time to get a hang of things. Don't feel bad if you can't grasp everything at once, focus on improving one thing at a time if you have to!

Feel free to comment more things! I'm sure I've forgotten some, or there might be better advice. :) Don't be afraid to ask questions.
