Maybe you were getting too many small queue times and they noticed and tried to compensate it somehow
No, but really, I don't know man, it's weird, it was around 12 GB for me yesterday

Didn't understand the first part

It was a joke saying you were having too much luck by getting to lobbys really fast and they sent you a bigger update to compensate for it.

No, I think it's just that dbd must be partially or fully uninstalled and installed from fresh with the update in it.
Happens on Xbox a lot too. It'll randomly have an update the size of the game.

It was around 9 GB for me on Xbox. Although I did notice that all my loadouts and cosmetics were off, so I had to put all my perks back on, along with dressing all my characters back up and putting all my charms back on.

Its all the extra lore they put in.

Consoles treat it as something that needs to uninstall chunks of the game to alter it. I know you didn't uninstall it's just an awkward download.

When your PS4 downloads a game update, it's only downloading the changes to the game.
But to install it.. The ps4 copies the original game data, and adds the patch in the process.
This process requires twice the space because the PS4 duplicates the original game install before replacing it.
The PS4 does this to prevent file corruption.

But it only did this time

PS4 Game updates are released Tuesday.. so it possible another game was updated or was downloading at the time securing the space needed for the dbd update.
Also if you have a bunch or game recordings they can take up a lot of hd space and are easily forgotten about.
You can check your hd storage in the system tab.
First party PlayStation titles don't have this issue but third party games such as cod/ dbd/ etc require twice the game space to update.
You can always pick up an external HD for your ps4.
Two terabytes costs around $100 Canadian and is more than enough space for all your games.
Games downloaded to the external HD can be used on multiple ps4's as long as the account that purchased the title is the account playing the game.
Anyways I hope this helped, the external hd is just a suggestion.
Catch you the fog my dude.

I'm on PS4 too, but my update was only around 15 gigabytes so that's a huge jump.

I was 6.5 gig on xbox.
Why the difference in file sizes? I have all dlc and a handful if cosmetics. That cant be the disparity can it?
