Do rift cosmetics get locked away if you don't do any challenges?
I got all cosmetics from the first rift, although I did use some auric cells to get to max level. Right now I'm just not in the mood to do any challenges. I know I can still do challenges after the tome is closed but that's for bloodpoints and lore.
But what about the cosmetics. Are they gone for good? Can't I just wait until they appear in the store?

You can complete the entire Rift without doing any challenges, if you don't want to. It will just take you a lot longer.
After the Rift closes, you won't be able to unlock cosmetics on it anymore. However, most of the cosmetics from the Rift will arrive in the Store at some point, but that won't be for at least another 6-12 months after their respective Rift closes.

Ok well I will just go at my own pace then. I definitelty won't buy another rift pass.

Personally, I buy it just so I don't bother forgetting later on.
Of course if i'm putting a lot of time to level up in a Tier system... you'd think i'd remember to unlock the Premium Pass after I hit Tier 70 right? Well, it hasn't happened to me yet but life is unpredictable and you can sometimes forget if say... something important comes up or you just forget to do it.
