Who were the girls beneath the cherry blossom tree?
For anyone reading who hasn’t unlocked all currently available archives lore, this will contain mild spoilers for the Spirit’s story.
I’m sure most people know what I’m talking about, but for those who don’t know, they released a trailer for the new archives tome before it was released. Here is a link for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_93z7fpCaHI
In this trailer we saw still images of the Spirit, Jane, Doctor and David’s unlockable cinematics, but before that we had a brief scene of two young girls beneath a cherry blossom tree, a man approaching with a clenched fist before he grabs and presumably beats one of the girls. The first logical conclusion is that one of the girls is Rin Yamaoka and the man is her father, but the Spirit’s archives have no mention of Mr. Yamaoka being physically abusive towards Rin or her mother. The second is that this is a scene from the past and it is one of Rin’s ancestors, but the man is wearing jeans and a shirt, meaning that this is modern ruling that out as well. Some have speculated that one of the girls is actually Yui Kimura and the man is her father, but this theory doesn’t hold up either, Yui’s father is also never mentioned to be physically abusive in her lore and Yui isn’t even part of this tome, so her inclusion in the trailer would be odd to say the least.
So who are these people? Is it simply a part of Rin’s life that wasn’t included in the archives? But then why include it in the trailers?
Please comment with your theories, I’d love to hear what other people think!

Retcon maybe, or something they didn't have space for. It was probably going to be foreshadowing that her father had ancestral rage like Rin does

In one of the entries of the Spirit, she mentioned that his father is acting aggresive and cold towards her and her mom, and she finds that strange because he usually never acted that way before, so with that info, is very implied that scene is probably past her lore entries, where the father is already being affected by the stress and the corruption of the Entity and is starting to physically snap.
I don’t think that is retconing anything, as it doesn’t seem that the father was a bad person before slowly succumbing to madness, so the abuse is another unfortunate effect of the corruption and eventual snap.

It's not really a retcon, more that it seems they changed their mind about the story they wanted to tell with Rin.
