Mori for rancor rampage?

If I have rancor equipped but kill the obsession with a mori, will it still count for the challenge?

I am asking because twice now i have downed the obsession after the last gen is done just for them to dc....

One of them even had an escape cake with bps also in play. He said he knew what I was doing and he didn't want me to complete that challenge.

    That's funny, I fooled around as wraith and did too well and killed someone at 3 gens and had everyone on death hook and so i hid as wraith while stalking my obsession and had him fooled i was being nice, downed him as soon as the gen got done and some how killed another one cause they went to the wrong gate. Solo survivor life i guess, just used nemesis, pwyf, stbfl, and bbq for some more bloodpoints. I may have got lucky.
